    Can PSPs just die?

    Hello Giantechsupportbomb.

I was in the mood for some Peace Walker so I literally blew the dust off my psp and turned it on but nothing happened. I figured I'd just charge it so I set it up charging while I went to work. Got home, took it off the charger and still no signs of life. I tried with two batteries (one proper sony, the other a cheap Chinese one I was duped into buying on ebay ages ago) but neither seemed to make a difference. Even trying to start it plugged in has no life. The charging indicator comes on but fades the second you pull the plug.

Any idea whats up? Are psps likely to just die or might it be the batteries?

It's a PSP 2000 I think. The first "slim" model.

It might be the charger. Try wiggling the cable while its plugged in to see if the light comes back. If it does its probably the charger.

The same thing happened with my original slim PSP. I got it to turn on by not putting the battery in, and just running it off the AC adapter. After that, I just put the battery back in and let it charge and then it was good to go.

Yeah, sometimes the charger gets a slight layer of oxidation on it. Where teh ac plug goes into the charger block, plug it in and out like 20 times and turn it 180 too a couple times. On the psp side, plug in in and out a bunch of times and rotate the plug in the around and around like 20 times. Make sure the battery contact pads are clean. Possibly use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol on them. Try the alcohol on the charger jack and plug too.

I had this happen to my PSP. I wanted to play some pinball and found the psp, got it all turned on and updated then couldn't find the umd :(
