It's the famous "Bought a console, what are the good games for it?" thread again, guys... So, i bought a PSP. It's a pretty cool system, and it's full of hidden gems, specially when it comes to JRPG's. I only have some games:
Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble
Hammerin' Hero
ZHP: Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman
And i'm looking for strategy RPG's and beat'em ups... So, like the title says, what games do you recommend?
PlayStation Portable
Platform »
PlayStation Portable (PSP) is Sony's first entry into the handheld gaming market. The PSP also sports multimedia features including music and video playback, a photo viewer, and an online store. Several model revisions have been released: the PSP-2000, 3000, PSPgo and the PSP-E1000.
I bought a PSP. What games do you recommend?
Daxter is a PSP must-have in my opinion.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep if you have any interest in the series. There's also Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, another FF7 side story.
I haven't played it but Tactics Ogre seems to be a well-thought of strategy RPG that was given a PSP rerelease.
Actually, I haven't played any RPG's for the PSP. What might you mean by "beat 'em ups"? God of War-ish action games or fighting games or something along those lines?
Gitaroo Man Lives! - If you can find it...
Half Minute Hero
Corpse Party
Resistance: Retribution
Adventures to Go - You will probably dig this one
Oh, and the Persona games, obviously.
I know I listed things that aren't strategy or JRPGs, but fuck it lol
Pretty much the ones that are listed above but I'll reiterate to make sure you get the good ones.
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
And both of the God of War PSP games are pretty great.
That's the highlights. There are obviously tons more, but those have been my favorites + ZHP which you already have.
Burnout Dominator, perhaps the best Burnout game ever made, combines the best parts of Burnout 2 and Burnout 3.
Tekken 6, looks great for a PSP game and the game controls superb on a PSP.
Undead Knights, perhaps my favorite PSP game, its a bit janky, but its really fun to play, think of it as a Dynasty Warriors game where you can ressurect your fallen foes as zombies to join your side.
Also don't forget you can get PS1 games from PSN, you can get Final Fantasy VII-IX, Abe's Oddysey and Exodus, Resident Evil and much more.
@Animasta: I would probably have said it but I haven't played it yet. *goes back to Valkyria Chronicles 3 import*
Something more Final Fight-ish would be good, but if i can walk, mash a button and see people die it's good.Daxter is a PSP must-have in my opinion.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep if you have any interest in the series. There's also Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, another FF7 side story.

The problem is... I don't like Metal Gear very much. I really liked Metal Gear Solid 3 because the storyline wasn't completely WTF so i could actually enjoy the thing, so if Ac!d doesn't have a convoluted storyline, i think i will get it.@cid798 said:
I liked the MGS Acid series.
Absolutely this. The only other worthwhile game I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned is Lumines 2, and you should only get that if you've played the first one to death and don't mind the mostly-aweful licensed music.
Patapon is a great unique game, has bits of RPG elements. You can't go wrong with any of the Final Fantasy games, Crisis Core or remakes. More of the "Strategy RPGs" would be Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics, both of which are great. As far as beat'em ups, both God of War games are extremely good. As well as Final Fantasy Dassidia. A game you might actually really enjoy is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It is a RPG with hack and slash combat, but the strategy is involved in learning the monsters patterns and attacking correctly. Most people in the west dislike the Monster Hunter games, but it is the main reason I own a PSP and why my PSP got so much play.

In that case, the two God of War PSP games should get the job done, though if you have a PS3 around the Origins collection would be better.
Twisted Metal: Head On is also fun as a car combat game.
And, finally, this list might help you a bit.

Well good news: Acid has a reasonably straightforward story and is a collectable-card turn-based strategy game! Although if you want something a little more action-ey, Portable Ops is pretty good too. It's a more traditional MGS game and direct continuation of the MGS3 story, with you playing as Big Boss.
WTF... Seriously? Sold.@MikeGosot said:
