It's the famous "Bought a console, what are the good games for it?" thread again, guys... So, i bought a PSP. It's a pretty cool system, and it's full of hidden gems, specially when it comes to JRPG's. I only have some games:
    Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble
    Hammerin' Hero
ZHP: Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman
And i'm looking for strategy RPG's and beat'em ups... So, like the title says, what games do you recommend?

Daxter is a PSP must-have in my opinion.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep if you have any interest in the series. There's also Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, another FF7 side story.

I haven't played it but Tactics Ogre seems to be a well-thought of strategy RPG that was given a PSP rerelease.

Actually, I haven't played any RPG's for the PSP. What might you mean by "beat 'em ups"? God of War-ish action games or fighting games or something along those lines?

@MikeGosot: Lumines, Ridge Racer, Metal Gear Solid; Peace Walker, both God of War games, Valkyria Chronicles, Dexter and I guess that's it?

Those games ended it up being the only remaining games on my shelf.

Tactics Ogre is really good, Persona 1and 3 were great, and I was a big fan of the Syphon Filter games.

Pretty much the ones that are listed above but I'll reiterate to make sure you get the good ones.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions

    Half Minute Hero

And both of the God of War PSP games are pretty great.

That's the highlights. There are obviously tons more, but those have been my favorites + ZHP which you already have.

MGS PW, Monster Hunter (Portable 3rd w/ translation patch if you can import it or get it otherwise) and Persona 3 Portable are my favorites.

All I remember playing or wanting to play on a PSP, was FF7:Crisis Core, FF tactics, FF:Dissidia, Loco Roco, Lumines, Valkyria Chronicles and P3P.

Absolutely this. The only other worthwhile game I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned is Lumines 2, and you should only get that if you've played the first one to death and don't mind the mostly-aweful licensed music.

Isn't it a little late to get a PSP? I guess they are pretty cheap at this point.

One of my favorite games on PSP is Jeanne D'arc. IMO it's better than FF Tactics or Disgea.

It may not be the kind of strategy game you're looking for but you should check out Field Commander, it's similar to Advance Wars and I found it really fun & addictive when I owned a PSP.

    Lumines II

    Persona 3 Portable

    DJMAX Portable 3

That's all I recommend from my PSP collection.

The only other games I own for it are The Third Birthday (which was okay) and Ratchet & Clank (a shell of what that series once was).

Burnout Dominator, perhaps the best Burnout game ever made, combines the best parts of Burnout 2 and Burnout 3.

Tekken 6, looks great for a PSP game and the game controls superb on a PSP.

Undead Knights, perhaps my favorite PSP game, its a bit janky, but its really fun to play, think of it as a Dynasty Warriors game where you can ressurect your fallen foes as zombies to join your side.

Also don't forget you can get PS1 games from PSN, you can get Final Fantasy VII-IX, Abe's Oddysey and Exodus, Resident Evil and much more.

Patapon is a great unique game, has bits of RPG elements. You can't go wrong with any of the Final Fantasy games, Crisis Core or remakes. More of the "Strategy RPGs" would be Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics, both of which are great. As far as beat'em ups, both God of War games are extremely good. As well as Final Fantasy Dassidia. A game you might actually really enjoy is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It is a RPG with hack and slash combat, but the strategy is involved in learning the monsters patterns and attacking correctly. Most people in the west dislike the Monster Hunter games, but it is the main reason I own a PSP and why my PSP got so much play.

In that case, the two God of War PSP games should get the job done, though if you have a PS3 around the Origins collection would be better.

Twisted Metal: Head On is also fun as a car combat game.

And, finally, this list might help you a bit.

@MikeGosot: I really think the best strategy RPG is Jeanne D'Arc. It's made by Level-5, who brought you such gems as Dragon Quest VIII and Professor Layton. I don't know how hard it is to find now, but I'm sure Amazon could be of use.

Well good news: Acid has a reasonably straightforward story and is a collectable-card turn-based strategy game! Although if you want something a little more action-ey, Portable Ops is pretty good too. It's a more traditional MGS game and direct continuation of the MGS3 story, with you playing as Big Boss.

    @MikeGosot:

    • SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3(2 is pretty good to)
    • Killzone Liberation decent enough
    • Fat Princess Fistful of cake is pretty good fun for awhile
    • Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles definetly the best one on the list
