I  came across this story while doing some research into young children and their access to mature content:

Mom Finds Porn on New
PSP

MyFox National Reports:

TAMPA, Fla. - Like most kids, Eliso Tovar loves video games. So his mom, Tamatha, bought him a PlayStation Portable for a late Christmas present at a Wal-Mart in Manatee County, Fla. What happened next would shock the entire family.

Saturday, when the 6-year-old boy turned on the PSP for the first time, he said a naked woman appeared on the screen saver. Afraid he would be grounded, Eliso ran to his mom crying.

Tamatha said she found a memory card inside the PSP containing hundreds of pornographic pictures. She claimed it's not hers and it was in the PSP before she opened the box.

She then called the store wanting to speak with a manager about the problem. "I explained the situation and his response was, 'well, bring the machine down and we'll let your son pick out a new game,'" she said. "And I was like, no I don't think you heard what I said."

A spokesperson for Wal-Mart said they're concerned about the situation and are looking into what happened. Tamatha says she wants a new PSP and an apology.

once touched by porn, forever a sin-spreading device.
of course she needs a new and untouched (by evil) PSP!

#3 Posted by Weltal (2272 posts) -

Huh, so their letting Wal-Mart employees 'rent' merchandise now?

#4 Posted by Endogene (4741 posts) -

Love how they are blurring out pictures with no direct nudity, at least show a blurred out spread eagle or something if you are going to blur stuff. Not sure why she would want a new PSP though, the porn was on the memory card not on the PSP.

I'm more shocked by the incredibly annoying voice of the reporter.

Because it was in the PSP when they bought it, according to the article. Meaning the chances are the person useing the PSP before was using it one handed.

I was in shock of that myself.

Why is it that most American reporters speak in this ridiculous manner?

#8 Posted by Alexander (1721 posts) -

Bullshit? The memory card and porn were not in there to start with.

#9 Posted by Oriental_Jams (3063 posts) -

Why does she want a new PSP? If they replace the memory card the images would be gone. And man that reporter was irritating.

My theory: A store assistant using the PSP to view porn from his memory stick during lunch breaks, From what  I can make out from my US friends, most Gamestop employees are wankers.

Man, Gamestop can't catch a break. They weren't even involve in this and they get blamed.

Stupid kid. I would have loved some pictures of naked ladies on my gameboy.

#13 Posted by Red (5994 posts) -

I think everyone involved in this situation is an idiot. The mom, for wanting a new PSP, the reporter for being so friggin' incorrect, the video producer, for blurring out everything on the screen, Wal-Mart for somehow obtaining this memory stick, and the kid for not knowing he could've gotten a free game outta this.

#14 Posted by Aurelito (721 posts) -

How that kid was concerned about "naked" woman? if he was, he wouldn't return it to his mom, if he didn't know, so why the hell he thought that they are mature content and should be shown to her mom? I'm totally confused.

Wal-mart consistantly and all ways has taken broken, and or returned merchandise and put it back on the shelf as new.

I recently purchased a Major Jackal Halo 3 series 3 Mcfarlane action figure, out of all the figures i've purchased all from wal-mart 3 have broken in the way this one has, for some reason it will have stuck joints and no matter how gentle you are it will break, this one happend to have its leg broke *and the shield wouldn't attach* so i took it back as defective, the way i open my packages it by cutting a square along the back just beneat the plastic shell so as to damage the packaging as little as possible, I went back a few days ago to see if they had got a new major jackal in and low and behold my major jackal was on the rack with no tape or any thing, so i grabbed it and took it too a employee explaining it was the exact same product i had returned 2 days earlier showed her how it was open with no tape and that the leg had been broken off.

Its ALL the mom. Headline should be "Fat ugly, lesbien finds her womb decaying buys son PSP and puts porn on it to get a private porn viewing PSP one for her and a normal one for her son".................

Abit long though

How come this never happens to me?  In all my years of buying stuff from Wal-Mart, not a single item came packed with some porn.  Doesn't Wal-Mart think some of use might like some bonus material?  "Let's ring you up, sir...a box of Twinkies...some Cool Ranch Doritos...Hot Pockets...Would you like some free porn with your purchase?"

Well, yes!  Yes, Wal-Mart, I'd like some free porn with my Hot Pockets.

This is for when you're older, son
#23 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -

That kid didn't know what he had. A small memory stick is easy to stow away, and he can just change the wallpaper and screensaver and nothing bad would have ever happened for the child. Come on, kid! Maybe he isn't "into" that yet....

And, yeah, that reporter's voice was extremely grating.

It sounds like he's holding his nose and yelling, I nearly stopped the video.

So... She's asking for a new PSP, because their current one had a couple-hundred pictures on the removable memory stick? This is retarded.

Agreed. And this woman has no tech savvy at all. A new PSP would do nothing, I think she meant a new memory card. Besides, I think this kid got ripped off. Should have gotten a DS. :D

I take issue with the headline, clearly it was well used.

Well the wallaper image is saved to the PSP, not the memory card.

Also considering the fact the person who put them there was using it with only one hand.

It would be, if it had anything to do with Gamestop, and not Walmart  :)

Yeah...that alone made me want to beat the shit of the guy. As if this is any kind of big deal though whatsoever. If anyone, a story like this will get the PSP more sales...just like complaining that GTA kills people gets it more.
#42 Posted by Verdugo (2001 posts) -

Heh, imagine the notice on the box:

"PSP Bundle contents:
Sony PSP, memory card, headphones, Daxter, complementary porn.

#43 Posted by CL60 (16906 posts) -

The blurred out pictures were clearly not even of nude woman anyway.

#44 Posted by Black_Rose (7785 posts) -

I wish all my consoles had porn when I bought them, that would've made me twice as happy.
