I was inspired by this NeoGAF threadto create our own on Giant Bomb as I'm pretty fond of cool looking wallpapers and I think it'd be fun to see what others decide to customize their Vitas with.

The resolution of the Vita's OLED screen is 960 x 544, so wallpapers posted should match this resolution to be properly used as Vita wallpapers.

How to change the Vita's wallpaper

Wallpapers that have caught my eye

Credit to those previous ones goes to NeoGAF users. I recommend people check out the thread over there as well as this one so that we can share some neat wallpapers amongst ourselves.

@FluxWaveZ: Is there an easy way to resize pictures for this besides photoshop? ( sorry if stupid question. Never done it before )

#3 Posted by FluxWaveZ (17873 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

@Redsox44: Well, you can use any image editing program to crop an image and resize it according to the resolution, if that's what you mean.

I won't have my Vita until Wednesday. What is the best way to get these wallpapers on the Vita? On the PS3 you can use the browser to go to theme websites and download the themes directly to the PS3. Can you do the same thing with the Vita?

On the Vita, you could navigate the browser and indeed download wallpapers onto it, but for that you need to navigate the Vita's browser: not a good experience. I think it's easier to save the wallpapers onto your PC and use the Content Manager (obtained by plugging your Vita into the PC with the included USB cable) to copy those wallpapers onto the Vita.

This is what I am currently using for my lock screen:

I generally like wallpapers that aren't too noisy. I like to be able to still see the icons clearly. Anyway, here's some I threw together.

Dragon Age
Heavenly Sword
inFamous
Mass Effect...Battlefield style.
Mass Effect at Afterlife
Mass Effect on Omega
Mirror's Edge
Mortal Kombat
Skyrim
The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

@RoboRobb You motherfucker! I wasn't going to get a Vita, but now that I've borne witness to this beauty, I suppose I'll have to! If you can generate a wallpaper with the Season 3 insignia, I'll be impelled to buy two.

I'm not getting a Vita yet but my favioite artist Orioto recently converted his 40+ video game artworks into Vita wallpapers. Check out more of his wallpapers (including for Desktop) at http://orioto.tumblr.com/tagged/wallpapers Download a .rar of the Vita wallpapers herehttp://orioto.tumblr.com/post/17604690663/everyone-of-my-46-wallz-at-vita-resolution-click

Looking at this makes me wish that I have my Vita right NOW!!!

Only one day left...

Here's the one I use. Not many people will get the point of this, but I'm a comic book artist and these are Wally Wood's "22 Panels that always work" I thought it would be a good constant reminder for me, and tried to jazz it up a bit.

#23 Posted by Rhaknar (5791 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

awesome thread (ive been checking the gaf one and got mah wallpapers from there), glad theres one here, and some of the early shit here is actually better than the stuff on gaf (yo those ME3 wallpapers), kinda feel like putting only 3-4 apps per page just to have a bunch of wallpapers

#24 Posted by Mendelson9 (305 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Can you set the Vita to rotate wallpapers automatically? I would not be able to choose only one.

#25 Posted by Marino (3465 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

@Mendelson9: No, but you can put separate wallpapers on each page of icons.

I made a blog post about my wallpapers, but I didn't want to make a separate thread in this forum for it. -

"...All of these were obtained from either freevitathemes.com or from the Vita wallpaper thread on NeoGAF. They are displayed in the order that they're seen on the system. All screens were taken using the Vita itself.

My lock screen. Mass Effect 3!

The first screen I see after unlocking the Vita. This section is for things I use the most. Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.

This section is also for things I use the most, but I didn't want to cover up Lightning's beautiful face. Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4.

For photos, videos, and music. Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet.

This last section is for things I will need to access the least. It's a design by NeoGAF member m0dus.

I guess as an excuse to try out the Vita's screen capture, I'll post mine:

Lock Screen - Wood panel
Vita games - Persona 4
PSP games - Gravity Rush
Non-game apps - Mass Effect 3
Media - Giant Bombcast
Non-game apps I will be using least - Assassin's Creed

Oh, and before anyone asks, I have "Michael Jackson: The Experience" just because, a few days before the First Edition Bundle was released, Sony (or whoever) messed up on PSN and anyone could download the game for free, which is what I did.

I don't know if you guys are aware or not, but turning off Bluetooth can save battery power.
Just noticed most of the screenshots still had that turned on.
If you're not using it that is.

Oh my god, I would love a normal sized version of that Gravity Daze wallpaper for my PS3.

There are so many good ones I don't know what to choose. I'm definitely bookmarking this page and coming back frequently to mix it up.

NeoGAF discovered using transparent PNG as your background works, so you can overly graphics on top of the animated backgrounds. It looks pretty slick!

Imagine doing a cracked glass transparency on a buddies Vita. Or just add lots of tiny dots to make it look like a bunch of his OLED pixels just died, mwahaha!

Could you please link me to a high-res version of this since GB compresses all images to hell.

It's not the resolution I'm worried about but the compression artifacts.
