Thanks for the link. I'll plow through the manual this week, so I'm ready next week when my vita arrives.

Shit, you remember the PSP? You had to name your videos in a specific manner (like UNP0001, UNPO0002, or some bullshit like that) and stick em in one of two folders that you also had to make (also named like MVN000C or something). Factor in having them converted to the right format and resolution and it was such a huge pain!

    Under the info for Near:

    > This application is not available for some models.

Anyone know if this means no Near for Wifi models?

@Keen314: As far as i can tell by reading the forums NEAR will work as long as you have enough WiFi hotspots in the area your in to triangulate your position.

You will need more than one for the console to pinpoint your location.

Below is a post from the PlayStation community forum from a guy who seems to know what he's talking about.

    Hope this helps.

"You can use the location based apps over wifi if there are hotspots nearby that are registered with the Skyhook Wireless database. If your mobile hotspot is the only signal that your PSVita can get a signal from then Skyhook does not know where you are, it can not triangulate your position and therefore not provide positional information for the near app or any other location based app. (as far as I know any other hotspots do not need to be open just broadcasting their ID.)

So to all the people saying they are just going to use their cellphone hotpot for access they must realise that they must also have other hotspot nearby to use the location based apps (if they want to do that). If you live way way out where there are not many wifi hotspots you need to know the limitations and not buy the device and then complain afterwards that it will not do what you expected it to.

If you are going to use your cellphone/mobile hotspot just for browsing/downloading/multiplayer then that should be just fine (the downloading will still have its costs/limits set by your provider)."
