So the PSVita TV is looking pretty cool. I'm sad about the lack of 1080p support (instead it offers 720p/1080i only, at least for this version of it) but aside from that the idea of playing some of my favourite PSV/PSP games on a TV sounds great to me.

BUT it is important to note that the PSVita TV does not support all Vita games,as games which require the cameras or the touch screens for core gameplay just wouldn't work on it.

This is like the Super Gameboy all over again! Maybe Nintendo will do something similar for the (3)DS games since now with the 2DS they established that you can play the games fine without 3D.

So weird. It's actually funny that Sony did this idea that nobody would have expected rather then just sell an HDMI out for the Vita.

Wii U and 3DS are basically the same idea. So there is no reason why they could not do it. They even could transfer the touch mechanics.

The real question is how does this fit in the GB wiki. It really is not a new console but yet it is really as much of a new console as the OUYA.

@endaround: It's a Vita. It plays Vita games, and not VITA TV specific ones. So it goes under the VITA and PSNV platforms. Just make a VITA TV compatibility concept to list which games work on it.

Why would anyone want to play FFX/X-2 on the Vita through this thing to get on the TV, instead of just getting it for the PS3 (and not having to buy the games separately, like they are on the Vita)? Other than that though, this seems pretty cool. Maybe we finally have a way of Quick Looking Vita Games.

It's game's like that which will make this thing worthwhile.

But in all seriousness, this is a helpful list. But I'd find it even more helpful if we eliminated games that are also available on the PS3/PS4, like FFX/X-2 and Dragon's Crown.

I live in a house with roommates and I'm getting a PS4, but I'm probably going to keep it in my bedroom most of the time, this would be great to be able to play stuff out on the living room TV or just to show my roomies a game or whatever... or multiplayer games. Whatever really. I can play Persona 4 Golden on a big tv! I want this thing now!

What are they doing with touch stuff? I guessing that's why there's a compatability list, but stuff like rayman legends or tearaway (clearly missing from the list) needs touch...

As someone who bought a Vita for the sole purpose of playing Persona 4 Golden, let me just say fuuuuuck. I mean, I don't necessarily regret it, because Persona 4 Golden is great, but it really would have been nice to have heard rumors about this or something a few months back, so I would know that holding off on a purchase would been a good idea.

Wait if you are going to play Final Fantasy X/X-2 why wouldn't you just play them on a PS3 at that point. Most of the good Vita games come out on PS3.

Great, now I feel like a sucker for buying a Vita in the first place - I only play it at home. Also fuck Sony for double-dipping on home consoles. This should just be a feature the PS4 has or perhaps gains when you connect a Vita to it.

I included Final Fantasy X/X-2 in my OP because a) they're some of the bigger releases coming to Vita and b) they aren't cross-buy titles so for guys like me who have to choose between the PS3 and Vita versions, I'll be getting the Vita version so I can play it on both my TV and on the go.

I have a vita so while this sounds super appealing (even to me) it was my first handheld (i got my XL later) so im not too fussed about this. I hope it has some decent upscaling on it

@webscud: there were those rubbing "mini games" I don't think you could do those with regular controls, everything else was touch optional though.

I only play at home as well, and I love that the Vita is mobile. All the best places in my home, suddendly they're equipped for gaming. Don't forget remote play either.

It's not double dipping, it's meant to be a companion device to PS4 in the first place. An apple TV-like WiFi dongle thingy, to hook up your PS4 remotely to any screen in your home in range of your WiFi network.

Would you like to pay 100$ more for PS4 because of Vita compatibility? Really? Because that's what it'd mean, if PS4 did Vita games too. Same difference, only this way you get to chose for yourself.

It's a great doohickey for those who want or even need it. For everybody else? It certainly doesn't hurt being there.

P.S. I think it's also targeted at the Chinese market, that's just opening up to consoles again. A 99$ online centric entry-level Playstation might do bonkers business over there. Especially once Gaikai comes into the mix. How's broadband coming along in places like Beijing and Shanghai?

@kikkomansa: They probably want to wait until the dust settles from the PS4 launch before starting to push another console. Right now they're apparently focusing on roiling it out in Japan and other Asian countries.
