I pre-ordered the Vita thinking I would be playing all those sweet games promised by Sony during the summer holiday; with Resistance being a crummy game, Uncharted not meeting the standards set by Naughty Dog and Persona 4 still very far away release wise

I find my self only playing handful of games Mortal Kombat, Stardust and Virtua Tennis and those only occupy a small amount of my time. Mostly I find myself using the vita as a tablet sort of device to watch netflix or youtube also i use the browser for gamefaqs when i play games on

my ps3 rather than turn on my pc when i get stuck on a game.

So giantbomb users what do you use your vita for and what games are you playing this summer?

for the past few months, it's been sitting on my shelf collecting dust. i'm starting school tomorrow and i have lots of time between breaks so i guess i'll play some P3P here and there since i haven't finished Persona 3 yet. i also still need to finish Disgaea 3 and get past the beginning of Gravity Rush.. so i'll probably be using it for a bit, but only for games. i don't want to torture myself with putting music and videos on that thing.

@Mistzero: I know its so simple, im pretty sure Vita has the power to play PS2 games. Just create a store for PS2 games at like 10 bucks a pop and I would buy one in a heartbeat.

They put out Resistance: Retribution on the PSN store without me finding out until recently, so I'm playing through that.

I still play mortal kombat, montezumas revenge, katamari, wipeout, and sometimes unit 13 and resistance(stuck at a place). I have modnation PvZ and monsters on it too but don't play them a ton. Have P4G preordered, and when ps1 classics come soon I'll have a bunch more games I haven't played. Most of the ps1 games look so awful I don't like them on a TV.

Yeah Sony could really vamp up their media app I mean the music app doesn't even have a playlist setting, come on Sony whats up with that?

@Mistzero: Don't know yet, haha. Kind of depends on them supporting all or only some. I really like RPGs and never played FF 8 or 9 though there were alot of good rpgs on ps1 that are available for download. Medievil, parasite eve games, twisted metal 2. tomb raiders, resident evils. Those are the games I would imagine would be good. Just the issue of them being available or not.

    Playing, actually.

I got myself Dynasty Warriors, Disgaea, Little Deviants, Dungeon Hunter, Rayman Origins, Shinobido 2 and Plants vs. Zombies and liked those games. Sure, I'm still waiting for a few RPG releases, but I still have a huge PS3 backlog, so I don't mind a little waiting :)

I don't know if the vita supports FF9 but if it does you should totally get that game. It's one of my favorite rpg of all time and last time i played it on psp it really held up really well.

How is Rayman origins does the touch control add anything to it or does it feel like a gimmick they shoehorned in?

To be honest I don't use the touch functions in Rayman Origins. The touch controls aren't a must-use, which is good in my opinion because I like playing handhelds old-school :)

@Mistzero: If it supports it I'll definitely play it. I'll probably replay alot of ps1 rpgs if they're available. working through grandia 2 again and skies of arcadia on dreamcast. Grandia, White knight chronicles 2, FF 10 10-2 and 12 on ps3. Probably end up buying dark souls on PC once the user patch is done, which it seems like it might be now. Have to finish some of those before I break into a bunch more but I'm looking forward to it.

Plenty of games on it if you never played PSP or anything. I just bought Manhunt 2 on it to play... just cause!

Still waiting on free time to play through Gravity Rush and the MGS Collection. Got sidetracked with Darksiders 2.

I bought monster hunter freedom unite originally for psp but never played it cause of the camera control, but now I play it occasionally that second analog stick is a God send.

So far its been my Persona machine, I've completed Persona 2: Inoocent Sin and I'm most of the way through P3P. After P3P I'll probably play either Gravity Rush or complete the hat trick with Persona.

I tried to play persona 3 after 4 but I couldn't just get into it. I think it was because the limited animation outside the tower it just felt weird not seeing the characters move around the town, but I may just be weird to get put off for such a reason

Yeah I can see that. It is a weaker version of the game in my opinion, and the game's slow start doesn't help. Its still worth playing as its a brilliant game, but I guess you have to get your head around the fact that its the visual novel version of Persona 3.

Playing games? Well in truth i use it to play any psp game that goes up on sale (got the biggest memory card)Finished gravity rush last week and played 20 or more hours of hot shots golf this week. Trying to get back into disgaea but mainly its a pretty nice PSP console that has WAY better sticks than the psp. Waiting for Persona 4 Golden and Ragnarok Odyssey to really kick into high use.

Is it still that bit of a pain in the ass to put videos on a vita? I remember going through all kinds of dumb hoops trying to convert stuff to .MP4 for my PSP and then just ultimately realizing it was a huge waste of time.

@Demoskinos: the interface for it is pretty gross and it makes me wonder if it was designed for use by human beings. you install a program on your computer, then you connect the vita to your computer and specify a folder for music, videos and all that. after that, you have to browse the folder through a content manager app on your vita and check off what you want copy through the app on the vita, then it copies.

it probably doesn't sound that bad on paper, but it's mind boggling and there are so many unnecessary steps and interfaces to use. i don't like it in the least.

Come October, I'll be playing Persona 4 and Assassin's Creed on it (I'm going to buy that white bundle, I think). How well do PSP games look on that thing? There's plenty of them I'd like to play, but I skipped that whole generation of handhelds, pretty much. I might play through the Persona 1 & 2 remakes on it (assuming they're available for digital download, which knowing how spotty those releases are, I'm not getting my hopes up).

Yeah I forgot about Assassin's Creed, definitely will watch out for that, and as for your question some psp games look slightly better but you might not even notice it. The biggest advantage is the second analog stick games like monster hunter is actually playable now.

I actually wasn't concerned that they wouldn't look better, I had assumed they'd look worse. Just like regular DS games look pretty terrible on the 3DS, I had assumed that the with the lower resolution of the PSP games that they wouldn't scale properly. I'll be glad if that's not the case, though.
