Sup fools,
I was eating with my friends at the ESPN Zone in TImes Square today (DO NOT GO THERE, TOO MANY IMMIGRANTS AND TOURISTS IN NYC THIS TIME OF YEAR), and we were talking about the NGP.
Here's the dealio, I'm buying the NGP at launch, zero questions. Don't care how much it'll cost, don't care if they have a high-rate to break, nor do I care what security (or lack of security in Sony's case) it has. I will be buying the NGP 3g at launch because I will be legally allowed to jailbreak it without Sony or the government saying it's illegal.
Some people might say that "KAOS JAILBREAKING A CONSOLE IS ILLEGAL!" To that I say, "NOPE NOT IN THIS CASE!" You see, the DMCA protects devices that connect to a cellular network, and as the 3g is using a cellular service...it's safe to say that it is protected by the DMCA.
Well then some of the crazier people might say, "KAOS IF YOU JAILBREAK IT YOU WILL COMMIT PIRACY!". To that I say, "BRO-SKI, I WANT TO RUN CUSTOM APPS THAT PEOPLE MAKE PLUS I WANT TO RUN PROPER ANDROID ON IT!"
With all this talk about console hacking/jailbreaking, people seem to forget the rules that the DMCA set forth. These laws are set to protect the consumers...and by the lord, you can bet your ass that there is a large group of people who are waiting just to do that for the NGP. The best part is Sony has no control nor can they even try to sue for the 3g models, and if that's a case they sure as hell won't bother with suing people who have the WiFi versions.
Oh, did I mention, this is 100% legal...it's just like jailbreaking an Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone 7. :P
But then again, all of this is moot as the world will be ending in a few hours.
Cheers,
