one thing that would be awesome about the backward compatibility.. but it is also a complete pipe dream.. would be for them to enable you to "validate" your current and older gen games on your psn account... and "unlock" ps4 steaming or current purchases.
Of course this would mean them to not make as much money..... soooo no way...
Hey guys, I wouldn't expect anyone to know this, but the sprockets on the fake cassette are going in the wrong direction if it is supposed to look like it's playing while we're listening... Cassette tapes play from the left reel and spool up on the right reel...
Are people afraid to say they like something? It feels like so many podcast members feel they have to take the hipster route of only liking obscure "only we know" things.
Oh and favorite quote.. "I don't want to be too cynical." The whole podcast is cynical.
It's getting tougher and tougher hearing this guys talk about video games. Their japanese sensibilities are transforming into cringe fests. But whatever, I still enjoy what they have to say.
I still haven't figured out who these people are and why they are on Giant Bomb.
Ditto. Although I think it's worth having more Japanese games discussion on GB than there is now, this podcast is not at all cohesive with the rest of the site.

They do live in Japan and make a living translating games from (and occasionally to) Japanese. Every time I listen to this podcast I go in with the assumption that I'm going to zone out whenever they start talking about Monster Hunter or some other game that either hasn't come out in the west (The entirety of their discussion about Dragon Quest X a few months back was painful to be sure). It only really annoys me when they get into weird closeminded fanboy territory, which is balanced out by whenever the phrase "E3 HYPE TRAIN" is uttered.
Man that Square-Enix presentation angered me too. What arrogance and tone-deafness that they would come overseas just to waste our time with a tech demo we've all already seen over half a year ago. I have to wonder how they got that far without anyone internally questioning what they were doing. They can't just throw the Final Fantasy name at us and expect us to care anymore with how they've treated the name.
All they did with that conference segment was confirm my suspicions that they're still beyond help.
So I read 8-4 worked on the localization of Metal Gear Rising. If so, great work! I love the cutscenes and the codec conversations (which in my opinion are even better than in most actual MGS games). Cheers. Great episode as well, btw.

What are you talking about? I'm German and haven't noticed anything cringeworthy? Also, you don't know awkward and cringeworthy until you listen to Weekend Confirmed. :P

They're friends of people on the site (most notably Patrick, I believe) and were brought in to cover a niche that isn't covered on the rest of the site: Japanese games, and Japanese things. They are a group of translators who started out as Journalists/Critics here in the West, and made their way East for the translation gig.

They're the best japanese focused podcast around. Don't worry, they don't take any effort from CoD or Halo. They, like, do their own thing.
After Deep Down, I played a little bit of Dragon's Dogma. It looks terrible to me now, in comparison. The jump is huge.
I hope it isn't the Matrix or whatever - I want full on Dogma Souls, too. I don't want future Assassins Creed garbage. I don't even want a bunch of menus or much UI. I don't want quest logs or markers. I just want, 'You're in this dungeon. Go.'
The Kenji Eno section -- You guys seem like you really cared and weren't just doing lip service. That was nice to hear.
I still haven't figured out who these people are and why they are on Giant Bomb.
It is truly an unanswerable question. The kind of mystery surrounding these guys is unparalleled as far as I can tell. As we speak I'm in a darkened library scanning microfiche for a clue, a name, anything!

Naw man, you see, every podcast is a B-side, so it's all in order...

Actually there's a video feature of theirs on Giant Bomb (Brad visited them when GB was last in Japan), and they are on Giant Bomb because they needed a new host for their podcast.
Hey you guys are great but you need to remember to introduce yourselves every time. I don't know who you are. Listen to the GiantBomb.com podcast. They don't speak until they are introduced, usually. This is my first time listening I want to know who you are before I care about what you think!
"That just further shows that this isn't a huge jump that they can release a game for both the ps3 and ps4."
Uh, what? That was standard practice between the xbox/xbox360 and Ps2/Ps3 for the first few months, too. There's been precedent for cross-generation games in the beginning of a cycle.
