I wasn't a fan of Patrick on the Bombcast, but Patrick + Alex = awesome. Keep up the great work. I don't know what it is, but this is a magical combination.

Wait a minute, what!? I need to ask someone a question about this 3DS / 2DS issue and the "health warning".

  • When they say the 2DS doesn't do 3D, is it stereoscopic 3D or polygonal 3D?
  • What is this thing about health warning for 3D games? I've seen the "epilepsy" warning with flashing lights, but I suspect this is different, or is it?

When Patrick's dog started barking, I got the sudden fear that we were about to hear Patrick get murdered on the show. Don't answer the door!

Liked the show!

Still, once again disagree completely with everything you think and feel about Mike Krahulik or his beliefs.

But it's probably impossible to agree all the time, with anyone.

The problem is he can't claim PAX is inclusionary to everyone, when he so often lashes out and bullies people.

Gotta say, I'm pretty bummed out by the response to Krahulic's latest gaff. I understand that any outrage on a show ostensibly covering the man's event is going to ring false and Alex's attempt to distance himself does just that, but Patrick's "the story is still developing" stance is troubling as well. It implies that you think either there's still some chance Krahulic's views are not hurtful and exclusionary (I don't think that's your viewpoint given what you've said on the matter before but maybe I am mischaracterizing you) or that you still need to gauge the severity of the gaff, exhibit the amount of outrage you think it necessitates, then... continue to cover and attend his event? Or perhaps this will be a breaking point. To me Krahulic's comments sound like more of the same upsetting and frankly exhausting speech from someone I want to support as little as possible while pursuing this hobby I love.

Nothing can be inclusionary to absolutely everyone. The medium isn't even inclusive itself, there's a barrier to entry monetarily, and of course if you're blind, have a mental handicap or some other example, it becomes even less accessible.

The problem here is that the people upset by him are excluding themselves on their own, by their own misconstrued feelings.

@noizy: They mean the glasses-free 3D. Playing on a 2DS should be the same as playing on a 3DS with the slider in the off position.
The health warning is partly the usual Nintendo warning about taking regular breaks during play, combined with a warning that the stereoscopic 3D effect may not be good for younger kids. I'm not sure of the science behind it but I think it is because you're holding focus at a (relatively) constant distance for extended periods, which probably causes more eye strain than even a typical handheld and could lead to things like nearsightedness. It reminds me of the old remonstration to avoid watching TV from too close (I don't know if that's based in fact either).
