More EVE. I want all of the EVE.

I want an EVE video series after this weeks Bombcast.

that intro sounds like sigur ros or maybe mum

I'm really glad Patrick has went and explored all this stuff about EVE. Although I'm not particularly inclined to play it, it does have a really crazy community that's actually a great example of how a natural distributed system can work.

This EVE talk really brings me back to a lot of the early days of FFXI. While not as complex, there was still a hell of a lot of politics and rivalries between various "guilds". Some of them had cutthroat admission processes and it became a mark of privilege to be a part of some of the stronger ones. Eve sounds like it's exactly that tenfold, while that part of FFXI has long since died out.

That was great, can wait for more EVE talk :)

I can't find this feed on my podcast app DoubleTwist.

I tried EVE a couple of years back and while it looked beautiful I was really confused most of the time. The annoying thing is that I know if a couple of pieces of the game had dropped into place then...

If anyone in the UK fancies showing a total noob the ropes then gimme a shout!

Bells are the most pretentious music instrument I think.

Nonsense, I sacrificed them when attacking Sovereign.

Yeah I think it's time to try my hand at eve again. And with the gb community giving a helping hand I feel better about jumping in

Is there an actually podcast I can search for on iTunes? I'd like to be able to DL this to my iPod.

Just drag the RSS feed button to your podcast list, it'll add it.

Found it...I was searching for "Review Dumptruck" on my iPod. Derp.

EVE is interesting, but not as something I'd want to play myself. Something like Freelancer is the extent of what I can take space-wise, EVE is a bit too... passive for me.

Edited by Elwoodan

"welcome to the interview dumptruck, i'm your host, Patrick Klepek, as always we have a theme, and will bring you stories based on this theme. This week: Eve Online."

EDIT: hold up, they FLY the council out to iceland twice a year to confer face-to-face? that's both awesome and crazy.

Edited by zakn

@arx724: Eve is what you make of it. If you play passive, it's passive. If you are active, it's active. Somedays i'll just sit on my computer watching Jabber for pings. Other times I'll roam lowsec in a Blarpy or a Cynabal looking to engage.

Even Stellar Management has middle managers.

Love the interview, but to be honest I hate the new jingle.

great interview series patrick. you keep doing right by giant bomb.

As a veteran eve player ive been wondering for long why this fantastic game doesn't get any love from the bombardiers. Finally! GG Patrick!

Posted by Quantical

@valle: yeah, it's a great game if you have the time to learn the ropes, it also has a great community, especially for new players.

Posted by Valle

@quantical: Exactly, but the steep learning curve is also very much based on the mind-boggling amount of content and the variation of it, which in the long run is one of the biggest strengths with the game. I've been playing on and off for like 7 years or so and i learn new stuff all the time, not to mention huge chunks of content ive not even glanced at (yet).

@zakn: I'm generally fine with slower (turn based, etc) games, but space combat just doesn't excite me at all if I can't get into dogfights not based on stats.

(It changes every time. Until the theme is done.)

Posted by StriderNo9

Patrick, you've totally sold me on this game. I going to get a PC just to play this thing.

Edited by kristov_romanov

EVE's craziness is both what makes me so interested in hearing stories about it and also ensures I will never ever play it.

Bulletpoints and talk don't just read something you wrote. Hate when people sound like fucking robots.

Liking the audio production on these interviews they sound much more professional than previous ones.

Edited by Garviell

@bendz: Try Eve Uni

They are pretty terrible but they do an alright job at teaching people the ropes..

Eve isn't nearly as hard as people like to make it out to be.

ok downloaded the client, here we go...

We filmed all the interviews, so we had proper microphones. I'm hoping to increase the quality of regular dumptruck interviews as we go along...

I maybe don't really see the point of a 2 or 3 minute intro to a ~20 minute interview.
