For the people claiming that fans are reading too much into Bioshock you do realize that people worked on this game for like 6 years right? They had a lot of time to think about these things. Just like Kubrick.

Anyone else really tried/confused about them crapping on Metal Gear when they all loved MGS4? I don't get it.

the exception of patrick as he said he didnt really like it and jeff says he only likes the even number mgs games.

yea its really confusing at least in relation to brad, considering he gave the game 5 starts and fought for it hard for goty.

Edited by mrfluke

@dr_mantas: yes..... not spoilers, but they say stuff to where you can start to infer.

Chronological consistency with MGS1 is essential to me.

Monster Hunter: Cool People Game.

I'm probably completely alone on this but I really, really liked Poker Night at the Inventory. I couldn't even tell you why I liked it so much but it was just a really simple, fun game that I found myself going back to a lot.

I'm retired from Metal Gear.

Same here.

Some parts of the game were unquestionably frustrating at the time, but looking back, I have only fond memories of 1999 Mode. It was fun scraping through fights using literally every tool available to me.

Pretty much how I feel. I think 1999 mode enhances the combat in such a way that you can't just blast through everything, and so keeps you from getting bored with the shooting.

I just listened to that GOTY recently. Hearing that and then their recent MGS talks... just baffling.

You bring up Brad and that's the most drastic swing, to the point where it doesn't really make any sense. Jeff is a bit on board here, but Pat and Ryan not so much... I don't know.

To me it's just MGS4 is so up its own ass and absolutely crazy that if you like it, you should just be down with MGS period, case closed. I say that as a fan of it, btw.

The Ouya just sounds like a shitty Wii with the developer/creators enabling the hacking instead of making great games. Just make PC games at that point.

Also I beat Infinite and am starting a 1999 Mode playthrough and still don't know how to do executions.

To an extent yes, but more about everything surrounding it. (weird marketing, david hayter twitter drama) Although there doesnt seem to be much love for MGS in the GBC.

I personally thought it was the most interesting thing to come out of GDC. I know the event isnt aimed at consumers but I didnt really give a shit about any of the other stuff (i've seen so far) that was covered there.

yea figured you were a fan, wouldn't be repping big boss in your avatar if you weren't i bet.

im with you on what your saying as that's part of why i like mgs, cause its soo goddamm crazy and i love their commitment to being crazy and taking their core story seriously,

it s just for some reason jeff says he never was interested in the big boss games. (thats crazy to me as mgs 3 is my favorite) something about the big boss stuff being more grounded in vietnam era being tooo crazy (do not know the exact reasoning) he's a little bit on board here cause of the fire horse stuff.

Patrick has said before he really liked 1 and 3 and rising and not 2 and 4, but he does get why people like that series as a whole.

Ryan never played any mgs games except for 4 and i believe 4 was his number 1 game in 08.

brad's sudden swing........ i mean look at this

id have to guess its him more objectively looking at the game rather than subjectively reviewing it (this was year 1 of GB, probably didn't fully develop their style yet)

Did Brad spoil Bioshock Infinite with that nosebleed comment during the Vita discussion?

No. There are nosebleeds within the the early moments shown in the QL. Without context the nosebleeds make no sense.

Posted by kerse

Brad is right, the checkpoints in Bioshock Infinite are awful, as much fun as I'm having with it being sent back 30 minutes when I die makes me turn the game off, doesn't happen often but that doesn't make it less shitty. That is my one and only problem with the game so far.

Laugh if you must Bomb Crew, but Patrick's foray into Monster Hunter has been a big beard growing moment for him in my eyes.

Posted by ZAcKHINN

@dr_mantas: As someone who has completed the game, I would say no. But if you want to skip any Bioshock talk, it's the first thing they discuss and it ends at 20:40. You could skip ahead to there and not miss anything else non-bio relalted.

wow lots of food and what could be loosely constrained as food images on the site lately. is this slowly turning into bobbyflay.com?

cause i despise bobby flay. complete disrespect standing on his cutting board like that. he shames the title of "cook".

@mrfluke: Remember his praise of Diablo III? He completely forgot about it come GOTY time. This isn't exactly new and it also bugs me to hell, but that's how Brad works. He'll get excited for a "shiny" game and then completely forget about it. Sure, he's allowed to change his opinion over time, but that MGS4 example is just jarring.

Edited by LegendaryChopChop

I wouldn't say that David Hayter isn't publicly advocating for the spot as Snake in MGS5, considering he is posting links to online petitions on his Facebook feed (which I signed, by the way).

I don't know what to make of this, there probably is something going on here, because why wouldn't he be considered for the role considering he IS Solid Snake?

Hopefully all of this gets sorted out positively sooner rather than later as I'm really looking forward to the new MGS games coming out, and if Hayter wasn't involved it would feel sorely missing.

Edited by Kosayn

I disagree with Jeff and his disdain for voice actors 'making a stink.' Konami has a history - it was a different branch, but the controversy in Fall 2011 over the Silent Hill Collection also stemmed from fans valuing one of their English voice actors far more than the company did.

April 1, though... hmm... maybe Kojima actually is bored enough that he could orchestrate a similar controversy to promote his game.

Anyway, in just about every other venue of acting except say, found footage, the industry is only too happy to put their big actors' names right out front in their marketing. Voice actors should use whatever means they have to to make themselves known and relevant to the fans. That way, the Cream, rises to the top.

In this weeks I Love Mondays they said it's time for some spoiler-talk about Infinite. So why not in this podcast?

Edited by scaramoosh

Bioshock Infinite is another overrated game where people just overlook the major flaw of it, the gameplay.

THIS GAME SHOULDN'T BE A FUCKING SHOOTER!

They took the easy way out instead of coming up with a new compelling gameplay style that played towards what they wanted to actually do.

Brad Spoilermaker strikes again! I guess he gave a small warning before mentioning those thread titles for Bioshock 1, so whatevs (I normally don't care about someone spoiling a 7 years old game, but I'm guessing that quite a few are playing Bioshock 1 for the first time now before playing Infinite/after playing Infinite.)

It's so weird how easily he gives away spoilers when he's so adamant that no one spoil anything he's playing. I'll never get used to that.

Honestly, yeah. The fact that it's an FPS that involves "shooting a lot of dudes" is a little discouraging about this title, especially with how ingenious a lot of the game is. I was expecting something way different, but in the end, shooting dudes.

I'm glad I'm not the first one to post this. My first run through the game was on 1999 and it's the most fun I had with a shooter of recent memory. That last fight must have taken me eight tries to beat it but looking back at it now, I have only myself to blame. On that eighth try I switched up my tactics, used even more of what the game offered me and immediately beat it.

Most shooters just make you use cover more on the harder difficulties, Infinite forces you to get out there and wreck shit up.

The crazier MGS gets the more I like it. I want more insanity added to the canon story. Please Kojima, cut Big Boss' legs off and graft ray's legs onto him...and give him the title of..well that's going to be tough. You CAN make a "normal" mgs (3) but I say bring it on Kojima - you nut. I will accept a new Snake voice if it's Hayter done with the vocaloid program.

Edited by Berserker976

@euandewar: yeah, pretty much :(

God, I really can't stand the Giant Bomb guys talking about MGS.

They clearly aren't fans, which is fine, but when I'm not a fan of something or not interested in something, I tend to avoid talking about it at length.

Nails on a chalkboard for a metal gear series fan, seriously.

To your point, GB does seem to "objectively" review at times (look at how Ryan reviewed AC III then kind of trashed it after last year).

But that being said... at GOTY time all that "objective" stuff is off the table and they were loving MGS4. So that doesn't fly.

Jeff's reaction to the Double Dragon 2 news is maybe the funniest thing from any Bombcast. "Big Jeffrey" GerstMan, Double Dragon/Trackmania Enthusiast, knows that thing is a stinker.

Some Android emulator developer gave most of his works away after the Play store kicked his stuff out (I saved the .APKs somewhere), there's joypad support so that makes the Ouya a very cool unit for a lot of people here, me included.

(Come to think of it, that's the only reason I see to buy the Ouya. A cute little cheap unit to bring along "on location" and fill with old games.)
