This is Pinwheel. It basically WAS Nickelodeon for a couple of years. Man, Brad Shoemaker put his finger right on my childhood with this one.

I could see why Sony hired @johndrake. So that he could appear in Bombcast more often!

John Drake is the hero we deserve.

I hope all future ads are Brad and Drew discussing their plans to overthrow Jeff. A worthy successor to Small Businessman.

Usurpermen Exist.

No matter how many weird crazy stupid stories Dan tells, I keep wanting more. I hope this doesn't become an addiction.

That microburst story was fucking hilarious. Having been born and raised in the Midwest, I can tell you that it's pretty fucking hard to miss storms like that, but it happens to the best of us.

Just in case anybody wondered about that "reconstructing sound from video" thing that Drake talked about. Good to know that Drake is hanging out at same odd places of the Internet like I do :D

@theanticitizen: FWIW, I said menko (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menko) not that other word

My ultimate dream is to live one day in the life of Dan.

Drake.. you know what isn't fun to listening to? mean spirited poking fun at Dan.

No, it was both hilarious and cathartic.

Ghost don't eat, but Kessler eats ghost.

Drake needs to leave Sony and becomes Dan's life manager to stop him from doing ill-advised stuff like wearing prescription strength glasses he doesn't need.

Posted by DallyDoll

Every week I think the Bombcast can't get any better, but then it does.

I think Dan learned his lesson on that one.

@stryker1121: sorry my presence bummed you out, dude. If I'm being "PR-y," it's usually a joke. I didn't come on the show to shill for any particular thing...I was just playing it up. Hate thinking that me being there made it less fun to listen to.

When is Drake going to reveal that he went to Sony to work on Vib Ribbon, which is a rumor I am starting right now that is not based on reality.

I heard from a reliable source that that is 100% correct.

I feel like Brad and Drake should know that Barkerville is at least a 22 hour drive north of San Fransico. By all means go for it boys.

John Drake's Vib Ribbon confirmed

@johntdrake: I found it refreshing and you were very aggro for a shill when it came to Dan. So what´s not to like.

Even Mother Theresa would get ***t on this forum for not being "real" enough! It´s a good thing she doesn´t have to deal with that anymore...

Posted by oppai2

@johntdrake: Back in the nineties when I lived in Japan a Japanese friend told me that the only German sentence he remembered from university was "Das ist mein Manko" (that is my weak spot). Make of that what you will...he was rather saucy for a surgeon!

Drake calling out Dan's madness was cathartic as fuck.

I know, right? Thank you John Drake.

Mother Teresa denied painkillers to thousands of fatally ill patients in her hospices, causing them to die in agony because she believed in the redemptive power of human suffering.

How the hell did i not know Dan in college? That Micro-burst morning in Lawrence, Kansas was freaking WILD! Had an entire tree down behind my car for over three day, and i couldnt get out of the driveway or go to class. So i watched star wars.......weird......

I'm not one of those weird internet people who don't like someone they've never met IRL, it's just that glib PR-speak does my head in. Cool that you bothered to respond to my post. going to give the rest of the podcast a listen tonight, so no worries.

@johntdrake: I think most people understood that it was a joke, no worries dude! For the record, it seems like most people thought it was a great episode!

Hidden after credits Dan story. Hidden after credits Dan story!

Thank you for being the voice of reason, John Drake.

Dan Ryckert lives life the way Vinny Caravella plays video games. Both are actively trying to break things.

This is the best bombcast in recent memory.

Don't worry, you did great. Most people got that you were obviously joking with Dan and the PR stuff ... hope you can join the bombcast more often.

@johntdrake This episode was amazing thanks in part to you. Thank you for saying the things we've all wanted to say to Dan!

Don't worry about pronunciation in Japanese Jon, it's an absolute cakewalk. There are only 5 vowel sounds, they are 100% consistent (only variation is length), all consonant sounds a familiar to all natives of Germanic languages and the language itself is pretty much structured with nothing but consonant+vowel structured rhythmic syllables which makes is extremely easy to pronounce. Pretty much anyone over the age of 3 can learn to pronounce Japanese in less than 10 minutes... It's a cakewalk... Chinese is the impossible one...

So yeah, pronouncing Japanese is Easy. Learning to understand the language and read it however, that's tough as nails though. A total mindfuck really...

Best Bombcast since the recent employment changes. Great all the way around.

It's a fantastic time to be a space sim fan :D! I am excited about Star Citizen and No Man's Sky, and particularly excited about Elite Dangerous (day 1 Kickstarter backer). I was one of three backers chosen to be ambassadors for the game at E3, and even bumped into Brad and Alex which was very cool!

I was really bummed out by the Star Citizen dogfight module, but I still think that game has potential to be stunning, and am particularly looking forward to story mode. I am loving Elite at the moment, though that has severe balance issues that need to be fixed before release (planned for the end of this year). I am very excited to see Drew's quick looks of these games!

Shame all these people I like keep going to work for a company who's console I don't own. Good luck at Sony Mr. Drake!

So, after reading the Foreword to Air Force Gator II on Amazon, I think I've got to side with Canseco on the "Who was being a dick?" question. Granted, I have never seen Jose's Twitter feed, but Dan talked about sending hundreds of insulting, unsolicited tweets at Jose.... I don't see why that makes Jose Canseco the bad guy?

Posted by MonkfishEsq

As funny as Dan is I literally don't know how he survived to adulthood.

Edited by gablekevin

@johntdrake: You are definitely lots of fun 99% of the time and on this Bombcast, but i will agree there are times when you cross a line from being funny to being mean and it can be really jarring almost like hearing your parents fight or something. Im sure you dont ever mean it im just saying....oh and cool to see you at Sony big timing it

Every word is true.

You know how they say every person is a special and unique snowflake? Well I think that's mostly hippy bullshit, but you, you are a snowflake.

Posted by Ghost_Cat

I remember having a similar experience to Dan's microburst story, except it was a tornado, and I was standing in front of a gallery of windows just watching the trees being uprooted from my backyard. I also didn't realize the tornado jumped over my house.

Posted by Patman99

I'm not convinced Dan is not some multi-dimensional being that exists continually in both the 1990s and present time. I have not thought about pogs for years.

Edited by Mortified_Penguin

So @brad. Now that we've witnessed the madness of Drake and Ryckert in the same room, how excited are you for the inevitable meeting of Dan and Dave Lang?

Seriously though, this was a great podcast. You were great @johntdrake, hope you are around more often!

Posted by Nadril

Dan is a special individual, and I mean that in the most sincere, nicest way possible.

Posted by melting_window

This was an awesome podcast. A lot of great energy. I hope, Drake can be on it more often.

Posted by csl316

Seems like I say this every week now. But holy shit, this one had me laughing out loud for minutes at a time.

Edited by mshaw006

Drake: You're obviously a cool dude who doesn't mean badly, but I agree that some of the Ryckert criticism was jarring. I wouldn't want anyone on the podcast to have to defend against repeated, personal criticisms of who they are, but that's what Dan was having to do at points. It got a little uncomfortable, mainly because it was uncalled for. No one was repeatedly attacking you.

There's a reason Philly GameStops would fingerprint. According to Gizmodo, back in'09 a Philly postal worker in the Germantown area stole 2,200 GameFly discs and traded them into GameStops. I'll refrain from spamming links, but just look for the story.

Still creepy, though.
