The only outrage here is how the crew hasn't received compensation for all of the other shit I bought because of them. (What am I going to do with this Zojirushi?)

my life is an empty void until the bombcast rolls around.

Just that one 15 seconds at the beginning of a 2 hour 45 minute FREE podcast? I really don't see how anyone could possibly justify complaining.

If it means some money for the crew from all the hours of entertainment then I'm all for it.

Looks like there are a couple of more but it's not a big deal imo. I'll still listen to this version.

That changes everything! Never listening again!

But seriously, every podcast I listen to has ads (mostly for square space it seems) and right now I can't afford a membership so them making additional revenue from the podcast makes me feel like less of a moocher.

I said it wasn't a big deal.

The ad takes up 0.2% of the episode. I do not think that is a big deal.

Posted by Sessh

Who the heck cares about the ads? It's not a big deal and the way Jeff's reading it, it sounds like satire anyways.

Edited by gbrading

I kind of find the ad hilarious because you can tell by the tone in Jeff's voice how totally dismissive he is of it. Kind of like "come on guys, I know this is stupid, just got to pay the bills".

So long as Jeff or the guys keep reading them I'm fine with it. When they start running pre-recorded stuff by external companies... then it gets irritating.

Advertising, in my bombcast? I am utterly shocked!

I'm just upset Zojirushi didn't fork over any money for ads.

As long as the ad isn't for Bank of America or Gillette razors or some shit like that, it's fine.

Edited by Phished0ne

Now, before i was a paid member i complained about the prospect of splitting the podcast into two pieces, but even if i wasnt paid now, i wouldnt complain about ads. The ads are fine. Every podcast i listen to has ads of some kind, and i'll probably still listen to the ad version of the podcast.

Some of my favorite podcasts advertise Squarespace, so whatever.

Posted by Rays_Gaming_Rants

Ads?! They have finally arrived.

Posted by leem101

another podcast i listen to has hilarious ads at the start that are just done on the fly, its pretty funny, hopefully jeff is gonna do these ads every week naturally also :)

Almost no one seems to mind very much. Who are you directing that towards?

I'm gonna listen to the Ad Bombcast so I can support the Duders .I don't care about ads and The guys make it good.

There should be an ad free version for subscribers.

Pays for membership. Too much work to change rss to premium. Jeff monetized my laziness. I'm proud you mah boy.

The increasingly fucked readings of sponsors' ads are my favorite part of the Comedy Button. I'd love to hear Jeff get more and more dismissive of the script each week, until he finally just goes "Squarespace or some shit. Buy one."

i know its a small thing to complain about, but some of us support them, and yes we don't own them by giving them money and we get a shit ton of subscriber stuff but still, i don't know how i feel about it.
ill still listen but if they are going to throw in ads in the middle as well thats something else.
its not the 15 sec ad spot in the beginning of the podcast thats the problem for me
its what it could become in worst case scenario

Ads make everything better

:/

Posted by FormulaDeuce

I think I might listen to this version first just to hear how the ads might play in with the rest of the podcast. Listening to the ad at the beginning definitely added context for the conversion that happened afterwards and I'd like to see if that's the case for the other times.

Posted by devotfeige

I thought I was going to be disappointed when I first heard about ads on the bombcast, but I'm only ten seconds in and already ALL THE WAY ON BOARD.

Edited by TheManWithNoPlan

Bombcast ads? No problem here. I loved the way Jeff, I mean "Radio Gerstmann", read it too.

Bombcast ads?

Fortunately we have a podcast for people who aren't able to get past ads. It's called no podcast. Deal with it.

I love this thing! Thanks, Giant Bomb!

At first I cared about the ads, and then I realized it was like 10 seconds and then I stopped giving a fuck. Also, I used to listen to the Instance podcast, so I'm immune to these things.

Edited by Mr. Kamikaze

As long as the ad doesn't interrupt the actual podcast and is just 30 seconds to a minute at the beginning, whatever. I'm okay with that. But if half way through it gets interrupted for an ad...that's just jarring.

Edited by cooljammer00

Are these ads pre-recorded, or do the guys just riff on the ads live? I'd have preferred that, but I guess this is fine too. Too much of a risk of insulting advertisers if they aren't pre-taped, I guess. It'd have been fun if like, they had advertised Gamefly back when Vinny still had it and he talked about what game he still had lying around each week. I like when it's obvious the people actually use the product they are advertising for.

Whoah! I have absolutely no problem with the ads. It was maybe 30 seconds in a two and a half hour podcast. The sentiment I was trying to get across with the Ryan gif, was " I have no problem with them".

Poor gif selection on my part, apparently.

@cooljammer00:

that's the best part they totally do riff on it. and act like they don't know what jeff is doing XD

Isn't Square Space Dave Snider's new job ?

Posted by yeah_write

The people upset about ads obviously haven't listened to ANY OTHER PODCAST EVER.

Seriously, hit up iTunes and grab a podcast (I recommend My Brother, My Brother, and Me) you'll hear ads from the usual suspects: SquareSpace, Hulu, Audible, GoDaddy, etc. I'm surprised it took this long. Doesn't bother me, one ad for these long ass podcasts is a still a fantastic value.
