Let me know if there are any issues with playback here; we had a hiccup recording this about halfway through. Wish I was better at editing that stuff out, but I'm not!

Boom! Now I don't need to sleep.

And yeah, True Detective is fucking amazing. Great writing, acting and maybe the most beautifully shot tv show I've ever seen. The last shot of Sunday's episode was killer. Also really like the idea of a show like that having completely stand alone seasons.

edit: I'm 27 years old and I've never seen a check. Some people in the US still use those?

True Detective is so much fun.

Rorie! Don't go to the movies if you have tuberculosis!

Posted by planetfunksquad

@rorie: You wouldn't have recording problems on a Mac.

Posted by johnham

Matt Rorie, I do not understand you, or the way you pronounce certain words, but you are a remarkable treasure. Never change.

Posted by Rorie

@johnham: Sometimes I amaze even myself.

The Roriest of Rories.

Great episode! And I agree, I've been going less and less to the movies lately. My TV is big enough, and I can wait a few months with most movies.

the ending is probably the worst thing about american hustle, yeah, but i cant see how the script is flat, man. that movie was fucking fun. characters were nice and such

It's been too long!

I'll take this over more scoops specific content...I like Patricks content, seriously Worth Reading is one of my fav contributions...but since Ryan departed even a measly 5 bux a month seems like I'm getting taken at this point.

plus Rory is forever an intern...gimme more stoopid meaningless content rory

Edited by Elwoodan

while watching a trailer for Pompeii with a friend and his girlfriend she said 'it would suck if that actually happened'.

Posted by Familyguy1

@rorie: Still no Itunes yet?

Edited by bkbroiler

@familyguy1: It's premium, so it won't be on iTunes unless there is someway to password protect those. Use a podcast app like Downcast, add the RSS feed thing in manually, and then just put in your Giant Bomb user name and password into the app and it should work like iTunes does.

Try watching Bradley May Cry (tons of Rorie there), Vinny's Dark Souls stuff (more rorie), Unprofessional Fridays (MORE rorie), or the D&D stuff (jeez, enough of this Rorie guy already!). There's tons of premium stuff on this website, with or sans Rorie. Take a look around!

@rorie: Before I listen to this, any spoilers I should be aware of? I don't need time stamps, I just basically need to know if you guys get detailed about Her.

I don't care about much else!

"Its another episode of oh shit I think I fucked this up"

Neither of us have seen it, so I don't think we spoil anything about it I think?

Lone Ranger isn't even really that terrible. It's tonally inconsistent, the comedy falls flat, and the opening and final scenes are dumbfounding. At worst, I'd say half of the movie is bad, but half of it is fine.

Yeah, I'm kind of curious about it. I don't see how a $300 million movie could be as disastrous as everyone makes it out to be. (That's not to say that big-budget movies aren't routinely horrible; just that Disney has a relatively decent track record at not funding outright awful movies.) Guess I'll find out soonish. To Netflix!

@ttfd: there is an amazing exhibition on pompeji where I live and Brother, did the volcano outburst ever suck. They had the most incredible stuff already amd still were wiped off the face off the earth.

You can manually enter the RSS and download it through iTunes if you want. It will ask for your user name and password.

So when's the next one :)

Posted by bkbroiler

I loved Alex's long list of movies he watched on the plane. Now go see all the best picture movies and talk about those! C'mon, you old crotchety anti-theater people!

Posted by l4wd0g

Saying, "Chernobyl is cool," where near 1,000,000 people died might not be the most tactful thing to say. http://www.globalresearch.ca/new-book-concludes-chernobyl-death-toll-985-000-mostly-from-cancer/20908

Posted by ThatOneDudeNick

I managed to go all of last year without seeing a single movie. Not on purpose, just never got around to it. The last movie I watched in a theater was Avatar. I'm sooooo lost.

Edited by Y2Ken

I very rarely watch movies. I saw a few in 2013, probably about 4 or 5 total. Same goes for TV shows. But I still love listening to Alex and Rorie talk mess about them.

EDIT: Titanic was pretty popular, and people knew how that was going to end.

Posted by TheHT

I... I think Frozen is my favourite movie of 2013, followed by Inside Llewyn Davis.

Good to have you back guys!

Edited by StriderNo9

never listen to these, this one I'm going to give a try.

Posted by AmethystRush

God damned True Detective is so good.

ALSO! Rustin Cohle. That's his god damned named. RUSTIN COHLE. What?!

Posted by EddyNZ

Love me some Box Office Bomb, keep them coming!

I couldn't agree more with your opinions on Now You See Me and American Hustle. Hustle just plods along with nothing really happening for 3 hours while Now You See Me is truly god awful.

Haven't seen True Detective yet but definitely looking forward to it. Also need to catch up on Justified and Almost Human... Yay TV!

Edited by Nentisys

Liked the True Detectives talk, since I really like it.

@amyggen: Yeah, seems like a lot of older people. I still have some people use them. It does seem pretty antiquated. Especially when you can just track all the spending with online banking. The one positive is there's no fees on my side if people use a check vs a debit or credit card.
