Dennis sounds like...a totally regular dude.

This guy is pretty painful to listen to. Mechanical and cold.

Edited by SDHero

I am SUPER interested to hear this!

Edited by Milkman

Just a warning, Dyack drops some Game of Thrones spoilers at around 3 minutes.

Posted by SnowyPliskin

Did Dyack basically just spoil the game by saying all the characters will die?

Posted by slowhanded

@snowypliskin: I think this was a given considering it's a 'spiritual sequel', and the baggage that comes with ED.

Edited by Blargonaut

I kinda want one of these portable audio recorders they are using. Pretty damn sweet!

THIS GUY IS INSANE

Posted by spidoman

They just refuse to be honest about the failure of their first crowdfunding attempt.

Posted by Milkman

Not gonna lie. I was kind of hoping this interview would be a little more crazy. But it seems like Dyack has calmed down a lot. I hope it results in a good game.

Yep. Damnit.

Please give me a million and a half dollars, I swear I'm a different person now

Edited by DexterKid

Haven't heard that guy's voice since that 1Up Yours episode. To be honest I always felt that he had some good points even back then, and good to see that he is back and doing something that he feels passionate about and is saying all the right things here.

Exactly:

Kickstarter goal: $1,350,000

Funding Period: May 13, 2013 - Jun 19, 2013

Cancelled on June 6 with pledges totalling $128,039

And we're told to believe that this was due to overwhelming support from their community?

Posted by Spitznock

Whew... I want to listen to this... but I don't want to listen to this...

Also, please give us your ideas about content for our game. We'll totally give you credit. Just like we gave Epic credit.

YO OUR GAME IS JUST LIKE GAME OF THRONES, EVERYBODY LIKES THAT SHOW RIGHT?

That's the vibe i got from this

Edited by Lifendz

I didn't know this was an interview until about three minutes in. Seemed like it was just Dyack talking into a mic.

Edited by rolanthas

I quite liked Eternal Darkness, and I missed all the brohuaha about Dyack and SK.

So I'm kinda sad their campaign didn't go anywhere. Oh well.

Posted by Luck702

God damn is it depressing to hear people try to spin their Kickstarter failiure as a success.

Posted by RonGalaxy

This guy sounds insane

Posted by ptys

Good interview, I when realised it was the Too Human guy I almost stopped the tape... but my browser missed the click, pleased I listened to the end. Think we can all relate to saying the wrong thing from time to time.

Wait main characters die? OK IM IN! #socurrent

anyone who's saying "I'M HAPPY, I'M HAPPY, I'M HAPPY" is someone in denial.

Man, I know we should be wary about this game, but god damn do I love me some Lovecraftian properties.

Posted by MeatSim

Let me know when you have a game to sell and not a game you want me to fund.

Another great interview, thanks Patrick & Alex

If I were them I'd stop letting Denis Dyack talk to anyone, the guy has too much baggage from the failure of Silicon Knights to be a reasonable spokeman for any game.

Posted by Sgt_Nasty

Dennis Dyack. Says he is a changed man, says he should no longer interact with his audience because it hurts the company. Then, helps found a company with the main goal being high audience - developer interaction...

Toss in the Silicon Knights drama and Kickstarter bullshit and you have a pretty skeptical crowd. I don't want to listen to another word from that guy. He needs to seriously put something of value out there before a single fuck will be given.

Remember guys, don't be dicks on the internet.

Edited by l3illyl3ob

With all of this misdirection, question evasion, and dishonesty, I'd think Patrick was interviewing a corporate spokesperson, not an indie developer. They refuse to acknowledge that the crowdfunding campaign wasn't successful. They refuse to talk to their fanbase in an honest and direct way. Instead they just give typical corporate PR speak and try to pretend everything is fine.

If these guys want to know why their campaign failed so hard (and it was a huge failure) they only need to look at their own speech. They aren't indie. They're independent, yes, but they're trying to pretend they're a big boy AAA studio and they put on the act, too, complete with stilted interaction with their fans. They claim that their community is so important to them, then walk that walk. Follow through, give them some realtalk for once. Stop pretending that you're talking at an E3 press conference. They completely fail to connect to any potential fans on any meaningful level, they do a really poor job of appearing human to their audience, and nobody wants to fund a kickstarter that's ran like that.

Except that part happened in the novel A Storm of Swords (which is what Season 3 of GoT is adapting) which was released before Eternal Darkness. So no, he did not do it first.

All 3 of those guys better be on one of these E3 bombcasts.

I don't trust Dyack and have not trusted Dyack for some time

BUT I will say that this is absolutely the right tack to take. He's contrite, he's apologizing.

He's very responsable for the death of SK, and the spiraling insanity that consumed the games from his studio along with his games (very lovecraftian actually now that I think about it)

But he does sound like he's trying to be sinceir, I'm willing to listen now, even if I'm not willing to open my wallet. I'll be very interested to see how his studio handles this crowdsourcing of the Precursor game. If it blows people's socks off I'll cheer for him again.

... Still, contrition only goes so far. Precursor games is still a bit weird as far as legal shell games go. Not illegal, but not necessarily totally legit either since it's basically SK's people making SK's game with SK's assets :V

Posted by Kingyo

@l3illyl3ob: lol yeah I wasn't saying he was right just that I felt it was more his attitude didn't sound like he was trying to get on board with them or bandwagon or whatever like others were saying.
