Quick question about number of cartridges that come with the game

First pokemon game I've picked up for the DS so I grabbed white used, and it had two cartridges in the case. At a certain point will I be switching cartridges or something?

That is a really dumb question, is it just me? How can a DS game have you switched carts? Wow... I mean really. Troll or just stupid?
