Concepts

2D

Sure, these days have almost every game sporting the newfangled 3D, but way back when, everyone had to live with plain old 2D. 2D, or two dimensions, limit the game to scrolling backgrounds, but some games even now make use of this basic concept.
Abra

Abra is a psychic-type pokemon from the original Pokemon Red/Blue. With spoon-bending powers, he attacks using his mind.
Accented Title

When a game inclüdes an accènt in its title.
Aerodactyl

Aerodactyl is a rock/flying-type pokemon first found in the original Pokemon Red/Blue. Aerodactyl is formed from old amber, blood from the creature trapped inside the amber allowing scientists to revive Aerodactyl to full health.
Aipom

A Johto native, Aipom is a small normal type pokemon that has resembles a small monkey and has a large hand on the end of it's tail.
Air Manipulation

An innate ability to control the behavior and direction of the air. This ability can also be used to create and control bursts of wind.
Alakazam

Alakazam is a psychic-type pokemon from the original Pokemon Red/Blue. As the evolution of Kadabra, Alakazam is the third in a line of powerful spoon-bending psychics.
Ampharos

Ampharos is an electric-type pokemon from Pokemon Silver/Gold. As the evolution of Flaaffy, Ampharos is the third in this line of sheep-looking electric pokemon.
Animal Cruelty

In many games the player is given the power to harm and or kill creatures. Many games have been brought to spotlight by groups like the rather militant PETA.

Arbok is a poison type Pokémon that evolves from Ekans.
Arcanine

A majestic and fierce fire pokemon, Arcanine is the evolved form of Growlithe.
Ariados

A Pokémon first found in Johto. It evolves from Spinarak.
Articuno

Articuno is a ice/flying-type legendary pokemon. Using its great wings, Articuno blasts powerful Arctic-cold air toward its opponents.
Attributes

Attributes are a numerical representation of a character's abilities who have their roots in RPGs. Today, attributes have spilled over to a wide range of game genres.
Azumarill

Azumarill is a water-type pokemon first seen in Pokemon Gold/Silver. This pokémon evolves from Marill starting at level 18, and is the second evolution of Azurill.
Battle Screen

A mechanic used mainly in Japanese RPGs of both the action and turn-based variety.
Bayleef

Bayleef is a grass-type pokemon first found in Pokemon Gold/Silver. As an evolution to the grass-type starter Chikorita, Bayleef is stronger and more ferocious.
Beauty

Beauty is a Pokémon trainer in the Pokémon franchise. She appears to be very glamorous and uses Pokémon that reflect this such as glameow and furret.
Beedrill

Bedrill is a Bug/Poison type Pokémon that evolves from Kakuna. They totally look like bees.
Been Here Before

When the player character (re)visits a certain area or location that was also present in a previous game, or visited later on in the same game, with some alterations.
Bellossom

Bellossom is a grass-type pokemon first found in Pokemon Gold/Silver. The third evolution of Oddish/Gloom, Bellossom is a surprisingly cute yet effective fighter.
Bellsprout

A small Grass pokemon. It it very thin and flexible.
Bird

Winged, flying creatures that often perch on branches, and defecate on unfortunate victims below.
Black Belt

Black Belt is a trainer within the Pokémon universe that is devoted to martial arts. They use fighting Pokémon exclusively, which includes machoke, poliwrath, and mankey among others.
Blastoise

Blastoise is a Water-type Pokémon that evolves from Wartortle. It is the mascot of Pokémon Version Blue, appearing on the cover of the game.
Blissey

Blissey is a normal-type pokemon first seen in Pokemon Gold/Silver. Blissey is the evolved form of Chansey and, like Chansey, Blissey carries around a lucky egg.
