Pokémon Gold/Silver

Pokémon Gold/Silver is a video game that consists of 2 releases

Players explore the regions of Johto and Kanto in their quest to catch all 251 pokemon.

Pokémon Gold and Silver are the sequals to the incredibly popular Pokémon Red/Blue and Yellow for the original Game Boy. Gold and Silver worked both on original monochrome Game Boy systems aswell as the newer Game Boy Color systems much like Pokémon Yellow did before it. It featured an entirely new region called Johto to explore plus the ability to revisit the Kanto region from the previous games giving it almost twice as much content as it's predecesors.

The aim of these games, as with most in the franchise, is to defeat the strongest Pokémon trainers and become the most powerful of them all (or a "Pokémon Master"). Players can also catch as many Pokémon as they can find in an effort to complete their Pokédex; a device that records data on the many different Pokémon. Players can link with other people to trade Pokémon with each other to help complete the Pokédex.

Pokémon Gold and Silver remake rumors

According to a Bulbapedia article, rumors have been circulating regarding a remake of Pokémon Gold and Silver. This rumor is based on images of a hacked Chikorita taken from Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. This Chikorita appears to originate from Johto; the main region of Pokémon Gold and Silver. It seems logical that the Johto marker was left in the game incase Nintendo were to release a game with Johto in it, most likely a remake of Gold and Silver.

This speculated remake, if finalised, is most likely to come out on the Nintendo DS and will probably run on the Diamond/Pearl engine. Another hint of a possible remake is the addition of day and night feature in Diamond/Pearl which was originally introduced in Gold and Silver. Fans of the Pokémon hand-held games should be very excited as it is a known fact that Gold and Silver packs a tremendous amount of content with 16 gyms spanning across 2 regions (Johto and Kanto).

Pokémon Gold and Silver are the first games to allow access to two regions; both Kanto and Johto, to compete with gym leaders in both regions and ultimately the character Red himself who is the trainer in the original Red and Blue games.
