@goranp: I think you forgot to change the date in number 9.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe when we debated the "sleep clause" we meant the rule that you may only put one of your opponent's pokemon to sleep at any given time [as defined here, here, and here], not the banning of sleep moves entirely.

That was a good match. I thought for sure you were going to lose (even though I already knew the outcome). I guess that Mega Venusaur is just too much of a tank.

@darthorange: yeah, Venusaur crushed it in the first battle but the introduction of Reuniclus for the second really changed things. We were kind of dancing around in circles until Reuniclus was gone, at which point I was fairly confident Venusaur could do the rest if I could get him in cleanly.

I got so lucky that first match. It was somewhat repaid in the second one with my own miss, but that wasn't nearly as bad for me. I feel like my head wasn't really in the game. I played like an idiot around Conkeldurr and used Fire Punch instead of Earthquake against Magnezone. Here's to hoping we get a fourth rematch!

I need to get myself someone with Stealth Rock. Also I noticed that in all four matches a Goodra was burned.

Sleepoverking might have actually picked up my penchant for letting Goodra take burns. I helped him get into the battling scene and I do like to let my Goodra receive status ailments.

Goodra's the only one on my team that doesn't really care about status! Especially burns. Although I probably could've put it onto Starmie and been more survivable because of natural cure. Ionno, I'm not too proud of my performances so far.

I have a question regarding items on my Pokemon during the tournament. I understand that we've got a unique item clause going but does that mean that the same item must stay on that Pokemon for the entirety of the tournament. The reason I'm asking is that I had the incorrect item on my Togekiss during my first round match and wanted to place the desired item for round 2.

I'm pretty much ok with any adjustments being made as long as they're announced. The reason we put the rule there was for people coming into a battle with incorrect expectations from watching previous matches. If the switch is mentioned, it sort of eliminates that uncertainty.

@fragor87: I've always submitted my items during registration. I know we did it for moves last season but I can't remember if everyone did items too. That way, if someone had an issue, we could ask goranp what they registered with. That wasn't really stressed this time though. I'm cool with the switch as long as you let everyone know.

So should I also declare myself winner of my match with tankintheair? Or give him a minute to reply since it's the loser's bracket?

@sleepoverking: That's probably reasonable as it seems like he's not around. Obviously we should let @goranp make the final decision on winning matches by default though.

Eh, not a great performance on my part. Watch if you want to see me get stalled out once I realized I couldn't win. Definitely should've at least brought a Taunt user or maybe a mixed attacker. I sure learned a lot from those matches though.

Probably the biggest error I ever made was using Protect in the first match. I lost so much momentum doing that. Though I'm not sure what else I could have done. Mega Lucario out-speeds Whimsicott, so I actually couldn't Encore him like I wanted to. Chandelure was also too low in HP by then.

I got really unlucky in the second battle, but that's kind of the score when you play with low hit percent moves. I've hit with Fire Blast so many times in the past, it had to fail me eventually. I also made a few silly mistakes. Like I forgot Defog would still Defog me if I Magic Bounced it, so I spent and extra turn switching Ferrothorn in. I also probably should have just KOed Mandibuzz, but I got greedy and wanted him to Defog to remove the Stealth Rock on my side. I should have accepted the rocks because they would have been way worse for the other team than mine.

Chandelure wouldn't have worked because, I believe, at that point in the battle, he was low enough that Bullet Punch could have taken him out, so it would have to be sacrifice Whimsicott to get Chandelure in, but that would rely on my opponent leaving Encored Lucario in against Chandelure. Maybe I would have been able to take it if I did that and managed a Dragon Dance on Dragonite.

Getting Scizor paralyzed was a pretty big misread from me. I actually didn't think he was going to use Thunderwave. If I did, I might have switched to Absol to reflect it, but Ferrothorn probably would have been the best move because Gyro Ball can threaten Togekiss. I definitely would have gone with Draco Meteor if I had remembered that Mamoswine got Thick Fat, so that's a research error from me. >_> Even without that knowledge there are a few times I should have used it anyway against Rotom in the endgame.
