My friend sent me this the other day and it literally blew my mind, its crazy that someone would think about Pokemon so in depth and honestly a lot of what this guy says is very true/plausible.

Its a very long read but I encourage everyone to read it. Wait what you still think its too long...SHUT UP AND READ IT FFS.

I must admit that since I heard the Ferris Bueller's Fight Club theory, I haven't been able to watch that the same way.

For as great as this kind of painstaking overanalysis truly is, let's not fool ourselves; Pokemon is a dumb, dumb anime that has been going on for about 10 years too long. It's a great read for sure, because people are finding depth that doesn't exist, and I assume the article was written with that kind of tongue-in-cheek tone in mind, but if we want to overanalyze anime there are plenty of other avenues for that.

@Jeffsekai: Of course it was great when I was 6. Because it's a show directed at 6 year olds. But I'm not hatin'. I'm just pointing out that this kind of stuff comes out of an overactive imagination and not out of any basis in reality. It's still hilarious though.

Oh, man. This is priceless ^_^:

Moving on to the characters closer to him, Ash’s traveling partners are aspects of himself that he can enjoy, but doesn’t like to associate with himself. Brock is Ash’s repressed sexuality. Ash fell into the coma a virgin and needed an outlet for his growing sexual frustrations — since he can never experience sex, Brock must never succeed. But Brock isn’t just a projection of Ash’s sexuality, he is also a projection of Ash’s fatherly instincts. Brock leaves his siblings to journey with Ash because Ash can’t cope with having that much responsibility at his age. Brock’s stay with professor Ivy was an attempt to outright suppress his sexuality. You may notice that James got much more dialogue in this part of the series, as well as getting more touchy-feely with his Pokemon and exposing most of his backstory. Ash didn’t enjoy this much, which is why Brock comes back horrified and refuses to speak about it (Ash’s subconscious was repressing him at the time, so other than a general feeling of dread, he has no idea of what happened). Further evidence of Brock being Ash’s sexuality is that he keeps returning to the series after Ash meets a new girl aspect of himself.

I would sell my soul if the final episode of Pokemon was made such that it's basically this, explained through the narrator's voice while showing a montage of the pertaining events in the series.

I cannot accept that Pokemon is really this deep, but it actually explains a lot about the games also.

The FF8 and Calvin/Hobbes Fight Club ones were entertaining to read because they actually broke it down and gave specific examples.

The Pokemon one sounds like some 4chan retard just finished a couple psych classes and had too much time on his hands.
