          Buzz about the fifth generation of Pokemon games is starting to pick up. We already know that the upcoming issue of CoroCoro will feature the next round of titles. Today we’ve also learned that next week’s episode of Pokemon Sunday will reveal the games in the form of a “shock announcement.” So the next few days should be very exciting for Pokemon fans, as we’ll soon receive a bunch of information about the new RPG.

    Hmmm....  Since it's supposed to be a "shock announcement", maybe it will be some info on new gameplay elements for the 5th gen games or maybe we will get some info on the new region.  Either or, I will be looking forward to whatever it is.

    Am I the only one who figures "shocking" will not be shocking at all? We're used to Nintendo pretending its new mechanics are amazing and innovative (i.e. Zelda) by now, aren't we? It's probably just got some new minigame element we're not going to use after they teach it to us (the Underground, Poffins, etc.) 
     
    That said, new Pokémon is still new Pokémon. Just hope it's better than D/P/Plat, 'cause that generation was a mess.

    I don't think Nintendo is touting shocking, just the internet/media/whatever.  And you are not alone.  I am figuring I will like go, "mmm, meh, whatever", when it is revealed.  Same for all hype.

    As for this news, it's almost certainly inregards to the upcoming Generation V games for the DS.  Like the article said, we're getting info on them later this week anyway, so it's most likely more..  and even more likely to be shadows of new Pokemon that won't be shown fully for another few weeks.  That's always what these announcements are.  I'd love to see some actual shots of the game and get some details, but I doubt it.  But just to go on record..  My bets on it being a prequel/reboot.

    The only thing I can think it would be is a full pokemon RPG on the wii. They aren't going to do a new DS pokemon RPG game with the 3DS release around the corner. They aren't going to announce a 3DS pokemon game when the 3DS hasn't been fully revealed yet. So that only leaves one option - a wii game.

    Not to let the air out of this to much, but I'm pretty sure the "shock" announcement is that they will be shown off first on Pokémon Sunday, rather than corocoro, rather than some epic change of gaming styles. This is still Pokémon after all.

    Probably something similar to Colosseum. And most likely on the Wii. As stated before, I too would really like to see a pokemon game made for the older generation that grew up with Blue, Red, and Yellow. Maybe throw a couple of clever references in there during gameplay. Whatever they do, I hope it has something for us.

    I genuinely hope so, as long as we finally get a BIG home console version.  We deserve it for all the money we spend on Pokemon.  It needs to be 2 dual layer discs and at least 50 hours on the main storyline.  I can dream can't I?

    I think there is no way in hell Ninty would let Game Freak put a pokemon game on a non-nintendo syste, but I have a wii so a quality pokemon rpg on the wii would be alright with me.

    That's cause they made it as a JRPG. That's like Gamefreak or Squaresoft making a CRPG. I would have zero expectations that it would work.
     
    The thought of a Pokemon filled Infinity engine styled CRPG, however, is much a more mind-bendingly awesome idea.

    There's a wide berth between being better than Sonic Team and being good enough to make a Pokemon game with the Pokemons. Just sayin. Not to weabo out but the only gringos I'd trust with Pokemon are people who've proven they know how to handle online infrastructure. And even then, I'd be a little afraid of how Blizzard would render a lot of them Pokemons. On the bright side, a bunch of trainers would have ridiculous looking armor.

    Perhaps they'll announce it as a launch title for Nintendo's next handheld? I have not been keeping up with this game so I don't know if they specificly said that this was going to be on the DS or not.
