Popuri last edited by suzukagongen on 02/21/21 02:49PM View full history

    Description:

Popuri is cheerful and open in her personality. Her and her mother, Lillia, are the most distinctive with their bright pink hair and red eyes (most of the humans in HM64 and HM: Back to Nature have more realistic shades).

    Game Appearances:

    • Harvest Moon 64 - During work hours, Popuri is watering the plants or helping out inside at her parent's (Basil and Lillia) flower shop. On her free time, she visits the Goddess pond in the mountains to view the local flora. If the protagonist befriends her along with her family and the local entomologist, a side quest for a rare blue flower storyline can be explored. She is one of the easiest marriage candidates to woo since her favorite gifts are flowers. Her friendly and open nature also attracts Gray, however, and he will propose to her should the player not pursue her. The protagonist can also gain affection points by planting flowers on their farm and conversely when Gray is getting closer to proposing, flowers will appear around the Green Ranch.
    • Harvest Moon: Back to Nature - The younger child of the ailing chicken shop owner (Lillia), Popuri had not been given duties from her parents before her father left in search for a cure for Lillia's condition. As a result, she is more carefree than her responsible, put-upon brother (Rick) and dreams of leaving Mineral Town. To Rick's chagrin, she is interested in the world traveler, Kai, and will marry him should the protagonist not pursue her. If she does, she will only appear in Mineral Town every summer and leave with her husband when Fall 1 arrives. Though she is blessed with more free time, she has dialogue expressing insecurity over being more of a childish nuisance than a help whenever she attempts to assist Rick with the chicken duties or that neither Rick nor her father trusted her to take over when they were younger. Still, she's a cheerful presence for her sick mother and though she fights with Rick over their personality differences, their bond is strong.
    • Harvest Moon: Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town - Same role as "Back to Nature." She has added cutscenes showing her playing with the local town's children, Stu and May, as well as a scene where she helps Kai get more customers to his summer beach shack. Along with Stu and May, Popuri will show up to the Protagonist's house during the Pumpkin Festival to collect some confections (similar to Halloween). After all, why should only children be able to get in on the fun?
    • Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness - Popuri and her sister-in-law, Karen, will temporarily arrive as tourists on the island periodically. While she is no longer a potential marriage candidate, she still has a friendship gauge and can receive gifts from the player.
    • Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands - Same role as "Island of Happiness."
    • Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town - Same as "Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town." Now a potential marriage candidate for the female protagonist. Her special gift (displayable in the player's house) is a mud ball on a leaf that she makes in the cutscene where her and the protagonist are babysitting Yu and Mei. The item is a common item children make while playing outside in Japanese media, akin to mud pies in American culture.
