    Hey guys, Amazon has Portal 2 on sale for 34.99 for today only, but im not sure which version to get. I know a big selling feature of PS3 version is a free copy on PC, but I dont have a PC that can run it. So im not sure if that eliminates the whole reason to get it on PS3. If I dont own a gaming PC, should I still get it on PS3?

    It should get free updates and more frequent patches. And also look better than the 360 version.


    Assuming PSN ever comes back from the dead.

    I played Portal 2 on my two-year-old laptop. Plays perfectly fine. Source games are nice like that. Half-Life 2: Episode Two was and still is a pushover though.

    It's still the best console version with Steam Cloud support and cross-platform co-op. Also from what I hear it looks better than the 360 version

    Oh and the ps3 version has crossover play with pc players so that's another thing the 360 version doesn't have.

    PS3 version also gets the mods, DLC, etc from the PC version.  The PS3 version is the PC version...except it uses shitty controls.

    i doubt you get apply most user made mods especially if it changes cfg files.
    At most the console version will get some custom made maps.

    Well, what is your PC? As someone already said, you should be able to play this even on a mediocre computer. Maybe not on the highest settings, but still should be fine. Have a look here.

    Anyway, despite the issues with PSN, you probably are still better off going with the PS3 version, if not PC.

    I hope that this recent PSN outage thing dosent scare Valve off. I would like to see more games use this steamworks stuff. If SONY was smart they would maybe make it worth Valves while to have them look at their security stuff and help them out.

    If you can run the source engine, you can run Portal 2. It runs great on the 6 year old computer I gave my brothers.

    Apart from the fact that you can't play online at the moment, yeah it's fine (better than 360 apparently despite not having a sweet portal gun for your avatar

    I resorted to playing it on the PS3 (you know, what with PSN continuing to be fucking down and therefore unable to activate the PC copy) and I can confirm that there's nothing shitty about the controls with Portal 2. I don't know that it would have worked with the first Portal, but I had absolutely no complaints about the experience on PS3.

    PC version for free, MLAA and better motion blur than the 360 version (which seems to go off during some sequences of the game).
