So I'm a little miffed at the fact that both Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat were given 5 star reviews. How do I know which one to buy now? I mean I could buy both but then I'd have two games to take up all of my time instead of one and I should be drawing or cleaning my room instead. Couldn't one have been just alright and then the choice would have been obvious? Gosh darn it!

Buy them both. Play Portal 2 first. Then play MK. Done.

I had a similar problem. I went with MK in the end.

Do you prefer brutal fighting games or hilarious puzzle shooters?  Valve will probably make Portal 2 a dollar in a couple of weeks though.

I got MK and it's fucking awesome. i'm sure Portal 2 is just as awesome but I wanted something different than a First Person game.

Get Portal 2 I guess. You got The Free Man as your avatar, you clearly are a fan of Valve's work. That game will probably be more important for you than MK if I take a wild guess.

I have lots of love for Portal but something about the brutality involved in Mortal Kombat just gets me going. Maybe I could brutalize some turrets with some portals. This is a big decision guys.

If you are going to eventually end up with both then maybe MK is better to get first as its a fighting game and you will want to play while there is still a lot of buzz and everyone online isn't crazy. Then you can pick portal up cheaper and enjoy the story.

I pre-ordered Portal 2 for release day delivery. Then after watching the livestream, went out and bought Mortal Kombat.

Jeff and Ryan don't throw around 5 star reviews all willy-nilly!

If money were your issue, I'd probably tell you to get Portal 2 because it WILL be spoiled for you by the end of May if you haven't played it by then.

But if it's just time, then get both! You'll need something to take a break from some of the more mind-bending puzzles in Portal 2, and MK is excellent for that. Plus, they're both just really, really good games.

Thanks guys! Decided to get Portal 2 first and play that and then pick up Mortal Kombat when I'm done. I'm expecting to make one run through Portal 2 whereas with MK I will be playing that for a while I'm sure.

I've mulled over that very same question for the last few days and half-heartedly settled on Portal 2. Reports about the brevity of Portal and the ridiculous amount of single-player content in MK has made this a much more difficult decision than I ever anticipated. I'm sure Portal 2 is great but money is an issue and I shouldn't buy either but I'm an irresponsible man-child. Based upon your avatar, I'm inclined to agree with most of the folks in this thread: get Portal 2.

Bought both, hell even GB said that during their Shrink Wrap videos, but I had already ordered by then. Portal 2 is now out of the way ready for tomorrow's (thursday) UK release of MK.
