Poverty

Overview

Poverty is often due to a lack of money. Said lack of money can be a result of job loss, bankruptcy or just pure bad luck. People who are poor suffer from poverty. They usually live in a shack or slum, with insufficient resources to live a normal life. They're trapped in a vicious cycle as the slums are far away from any sort of career opportunity (meaning far away from any possible revenue), they are stuck in their poverty.

In video games, poverty may be depicted in different forms. Poverty may lead to a life of crime as the character sees no other alternative to survive. Poor people can also be used as guinea pigs for diabolical experiments, as seen in Resident Evil 5.
