Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is an action-adventure game with a heavy focus on platforming. The story revolves around the wry Prince, a time-altering dagger, and a kingdom beset by a plague-like evil.
The movie was as watchable as the game that came out with it is playable. Nothing to write home about, not offensively bad at all. There is no POP "lore" to speak of or to get into a hissy fit over.
Letting the Princess falling to her doom and then rewinding time so that never happened
saving the Princess, then you and I have very different opinions on what the movie was all about.
As for the movie itself, I thought that the way Jordan went around writing the first draft (which after reading was really great - you can find it online and YES, it's legit. There are too many similarities to the movie from a script written in 2006 for it NOT to be legit.) was great - take the main elements of the game and mix it up a little.
I mean, let's be honest: When you play a game, you have GAMEPLAY, an element you can't have in a movie, so making it more story-oriented and changing the story completely was for the better in this movie.
Overall, it was a pretty cool movie, and I'm hoping for a sequel.
PoP was alright so long as you have someone to make fun of it with when you're watching it. Also, Gemma Arterton was arguably hotter in PoP than in Clash of the Titans, even though her role was exactly the same: talk about Destiny THE ENTIRE TIME while doing that breathy voice of hers. I think Clash of the Titans was the better movie, though.
