Prince of Persia is an action adventure series created by Jordan Mechner in the late eighties. The original was a beloved 2D platformer, while the series' later incarnation in The Sands of Time set the bar for modern platforming and continues to influence games a decade later.
The games for the ps2 era were great, then these last two, what happened, why do they suck, I know I am not the only one feeling these thoughts, but does anyone have an answer?
If the newest Prince of Persia was released when you had a PS2 you would have said it was a great game. It's exactly the same as the old POP's, just your expectation from games have increased for this generation.
I think Prince of Persia (2008) was a great game. I was skeptical at first, but I loved it. As for the newest one, it doesn't look too bad, not worth full price though.
Obviously sales declined dramatically from the first game in the Sands of Time series to the last game so they went ahead and tried something new. That didn't work out as well as they had hoped so they tried it again, this time with some help from the movie. If this revamp doesn't work then ten years from now we will get another noscon of Prince of Persia and the cycle will repeat. Of course, if that game doesn't sell enough copies then the series will probably be too toxic from then on and the series will die.
