PoP Achievement Discussion

#1 Posted by Vinchenzo (6192 posts) -

Just wanted to make a thread where we can discuss the achievements for this game. It's a possibility that what is discussed here can be added to LiquidPrince's achievement guide.

Some achievements I felt I should explain, that I have gotten...

  • Improviser (use the environment against an enemy): any "arena" that has a support beam or something similar can be used against the opponent. Get them to have their back against it, whether you have to position them by strafing, or use acrobatics to jump over. Then I usually call upon Elika (Y), followed by (X) and they should go through the beam.
  • Warrior Special (dodge 20 attacks from the Warrior in one battle): the real question here is what's considered to be a dodge. Simply press [direction + A] away from the Warrior. I got a couple off just by rolling around him. I don't think it counts sometimes, but just spend time dodging his swings until the achievement unlocks.
  • Ruined Citadel Runner (run from Sun Temple fertile grounds to Windmill fertile grounds in 5 minutes): the only question here might be what the fertile ground is. And somewhat obviously, it's where you "Heal" the location. Most of these runner achievements should be dealt with the same way. First, heal the entire set of locations that need to be run through. Then, teleport to [example: Sun Temple] and set a checkpoint for Windmill. Then start running, once you get to the Windmill fertile grounds, the achievement will unlock.

Not a massive amount of achievements in PoP are confusing, but maybe this thread will go to good use.

Are the 360 achievements the same as the PS3 trophies?  I don't recognize any of these from the trophy list I looked at.

They are named different, but still the same I believe. Except the PS3 gets a platinum trophy as it's 51st.

I got like 130 gamerscore in about an hour and a half. I think I'll have to do another playthrough for the one where I don't die 100 times and finish it in 12 hours though.

I only played it briefly today, but noticed that PoP  was handing out trophies like candy. Not complaining, but just thought I'd share that with those who are big on the achievement / gamerscore thing.

How to get Assassin's View  achievement / Trophy (10 points) :

First head to  the Martyr's Tower zone . once you've healed the area, drop back down inside underneath the fertile grounds. When you're in the room with the holes in the floor, and the yellow plate on the wall, run around to the side where it opens up to the outside. Turn left out there and follow the ramp down to some light seeds. Right there, there is a post sticking out. Stand on the post a the very edge and you will unlock the achievement.

For the most part, all of these are pretty darn easy, with the exception of that "Precious Time"; I have yet to see anyone get it and actually post their method online.

You can only unlock this Achievement/Trophy towards end of the game

after destroying Ahriman a cut-scene will be shown in which the Prince is holding Elika , when the cut-scene is finished  Stand still for one minute and the Achievement/ trophy  will be unlocked

How to get " Where 's Temple ? " and "Good Company "  achievement

These two achievements require you to talk to Elika using LT , LB .

“Where is the temple ? “ :  talk to her at the beginning of the game where the temple is unlocked.

“Good company “   for this achievement you’ll have to talk with Elika as much as you can , try to talk to her every now and then and each time keep on the conversation till Prince can move while talking (that means the Dialogs have finished ) . you will most likely get it half way through the game by doing so .

Complete Combo List
This is the OFFICIAL Moves needed, thanks to Jones23 for adding a few normal moves that should have been a no brainer on my part. Only do the ones on this post and ignore the ones further down as they are just possible variations, but not needed. Figured I'd leave them since I did do 500 of them. Also, I put in the button icons at one point but it was double the limit and someone posted after me, so no go. But I will put them further down this post if anyone really wants color printouts with fancy buttons. (Just click on the # in the top right corner of a post to open a page with just that post for easier printing, and it'll be 3 pages total in the end. In this case they are posts #17, 18 and 19 but I will link them since I'm nice like that )

Just do all these moves against the final boss, just make yourself horizontal to the wall and with your back to the edges of the arena when you start the combos (except moves starting in A as you usually flip over him so with these his back should be close to the edge) and make sure the edge or wall doesn't cut the combo short. If you clash and have to tap the X button fast or the animation shows him hitting the wall it might not have counted so do it again just in case. It is easiest to wait for him to come to you and then counter with RT and then start the combo. Also pay attention when the boss is covered in corruption whether your gauntlet, sword or Elika is glowing as that is the only move that can work on him at that specific time. Countering might deactivate it but I can't remember for sure. He will also block the X X X X move quite often but keep at it and you will get it eventually.
He also regenerates his health when it gets low, so when you see blue streaks around him back up to let him heal. At the very beginning when he pins you and you press the wrong button so Elika saves you his health also replenishes but it stops doing it eventually. After a while he never heals more than half his total health, and doesn't replenish it till he's got less than a quarter of health left. So just be patient and don't let him die and you can do all 63 moves in that one battle.

Doing the method above the Achievement will pop AFTER you defeat the final "person" boss, at least mine did while "it" was on the ground, before the screen turns black and white and the second part begins. (ALTHOUGH some have said it didn't pop until they finished the game's true ending but I didn't need to, popped after the battle ended)

Speak of the devil!

I need the "Combo Specialist" trophy to get the Platinum, I spent nearly 3 hours working on that and I didn't get it, my goodness.

"(ALTHOUGH some have said it didn't pop until they finished the game's true ending but I didn't need to, popped after the battle ended)"

Although this is off some concern, I'll be damned if I'm gonna let one fucking bronze trophy get in my way!

#21 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) -

Maybe i'm just stating the obvious, but I presume Combo Master can only be done right near the start of the game before the enemies start deflecting and blocking.

doesnt have to be, but it makes it alot easier.
