Should we try to get this game to the Giant Bomb offices?

As in the title, do you think we should get this game for Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinny to review?

Community effort required. If everyone chipped in a dollar or two then it would be no problem! It would have to be a moderator who knew what they were doing with PayPal that handled it obviously (I know I'm not a crook but you don't), so who is willing to give this a shot?

eBay
Princess Debut used once, $19.90, free shipping (this is also in California)
Princess Debut new, $28.99, free shipping

Amazon
Princess Debut new, free "Super Saver" shipping

Im all for this. Im willing to donate a dollar or two.

What is the big deal about this game...can someone explain that to me.

#4 Posted by AkumaX (248 posts) -

Bumping for great justice.

I think it's just a case of whatever it is that caused Princess Debut to become the #1 visited game page on the site this month has snowballed.  To be honest, I bought the game two Sundays ago without realizing any of this until I got home visited the GB front page and saw the game's box art on the front of the site.
#7 Posted by AkumaX (248 posts) -

So is there anyone out there who could be trusted to collate all the donations, purchase it and get it delivered to Sausalito?

#8 Posted by jarryd (254 posts) -

the thing is they are all flat out with heaps of games to review so maybe we should discuss this after the holidays

#9 Posted by Axersia (1613 posts) -

I'd be willing to chip in a few bucks, but I don't feel like actually doing the ordering and having it shipped to them. It's too much of a responsibility.

Couldn't we just ask Natsume to send them a copy, though? Just look at all the free advertising they got. No seriously, people have actually bought the game because they found it on this site. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

#10 Posted by OmegaPirate (5523 posts) -

Ill chip in  - lets DO THIS!!!!

#11 Posted by AkumaX (248 posts) -

Good point Axersia.

If that doesn't work, I'll pay for it fully myself and anyone who wants to send me a few pounds when the game is received by GB then I wouldn't say no.

#12 Posted by GiantGUS (399 posts) -

I could do the ordering shipping and chip in a few bucks.

People could just donate the money for the person in charge's paypal and that person makes the purchase with paypal (probably the ebay one)

#13 Posted by OmegaPirate (5523 posts) -

Yeah just shout out once its been purchased and ill send the moneys :)

Are you in the US? I just realised it might be difficult for me because I'm in the UK.
#15 Posted by Axersia (1613 posts) -

Shouldn't we try the get it for free first?

The only contact information they list on their site is this for consumer and warranty service:

Natsume Inc.
1818 Gilbreth Road, Suite 229
Burlingame, CA 94010

1-650-692-1941

As well as this email for gameplay related questions:

4service@natsume.com

Those emails usually take a while to get answered and this email in particular isn't really meant for such requests, so I think it's best if someone actually called them. Is anyone willing?

#16 Posted by Pepsiman (2459 posts) -

Shouldn't the larger worry be about the actual shipping address to the Giant Bomb office? As far as I can tell, the only thing resembling an address belongs to a member of the legal team and while it's also in the same city as the rest of the crew, it's not exactly explicit confirmation that it's the address we want.

As for acquiring the game itself, I'll willingly buy it so long as it really is a community effort and that Paypal is involved. I'm a bit tight financially at the moment, so I can't make any guarantees that I could contribute anything besides being the liason between the community and seller, but if talking to Natsume directly doesn't work, I'll gladly step in in whatever capacity I can.

Ax's idea is a good one, though. Maybe someone can convince a representative there that Giant Bomb wants a copy for reviewing purposes or something?
#17 Posted by Axersia (1613 posts) -

Hey Giant Bomb, How Should I Hit You Up?

If you're a video-game publisher or developer and you wanna send us awesome games for review or preview purposes, or you've got some crazy beverages that need taste-testing, our mailing address is:

Send your mail to:
Giant Bomb
1001 Bridgeway, #226
Sausalito, CA 94965

So yeah, there's the address (and yes, it's different from the one you mentioned). Now we need someone to step up as a representative.

I'd call but I have this nasty Dutch accent and everything...
#18 Posted by AkumaX (248 posts) -

I'll try to get Natsume through their site, I'm not going to pone and waste loads of cash on an international call that will probably take me to a robot.

If anyone can fire them a letter, please do.

#19 Posted by Willy105 (4688 posts) -

Yes.

#20 Posted by Axersia (1613 posts) -

Well, if no one else wants to call, I will. It's only a few cents a minute for me to call the US.

Any idea on how I should go about doing this? Should I make up some story or just tell them the truth? (I'm not gonna pretend I'm actual GB staff, though.)

#21 Edited by AkumaX (248 posts) -

Tell them the truth, just say that their game has had a lot of free advertising on this site and we'd all certainly appreciate it (and it would doubtless increase sales) if GB got a copy to review.

Thanks for doing this :)

You could call yourself, "staff of the moderation team"?
#23 Posted by jakob187 (21642 posts) -

I will buy a copy of the game next week and send it to them.

I shit you not.
#24 Edited by Black_Rose (7785 posts) -

How about making a petition and sending it to Natsume?

#25 Posted by banned8921 (1246 posts) -

I want to see if they review this just because of there community thatd be awesome. even though i have no idea waht this game is.

#26 Posted by OGCartman (4354 posts) -

Il chip in a couple bucks if we cant get it for free.
Seriously, if 10 people chip in 2 bucks, its all goood

#27 Edited by Axersia (1613 posts) -

So I just called them and spoke with their Product Manager Vice President of Operations Graham Markay who gave me his email to send GB's contact information to. He also said they already sent out a whole bunch of review copies recently, but if GiantBomb.com didn't get any yet, they'd put them on the list and mail it out asap.

So guess we will have to organise a joint cookie baking event in your honour then.

New update:

Hi

My name is Mika and I am in charge of PR for Natsume.  Graham sent us your request and we are getting a copy of Princess Debut out to you today!

Best

Mika
#33 Posted by LordAndrew (14424 posts) -

Awesome. Now the Giant Bomb crew can fulfill their dreams of becoming a princess.

Yay!

Ax gets mad props for actually getting this stuff to happen.

Now I suppose the only thing left to do is to take bets on who will be playing the game the longest.

My guess?

Probably Ryan, but let's use Brad as a wildcard for the hell of it.

Yup, let's hope Brad does it.
#37 Posted by Disgaeamad (1342 posts) -

Oh..oh my god. You guys actually managed it! I swear, this is the best community ever. Great work Ax, you're a hero.

Now, let's see if they talk about it in the Bombcast.

#38 Posted by LordAndrew (14424 posts) -

Hell yes. When trying to decide who should play it, I too determined that Brad should be the one. :)

#39 Posted by Axersia (1613 posts) -

I'm hoping for Brad too. He's just perfect for the job.

Bad news guys, Jeff has spoken about this on the IRC, this is what he said:

"

You realize that we

And now you've convinced

They'll be even

WHY JEFF WHY?!?!!?

Jeff is disappointed in us. :(
#43 Posted by AkumaX (248 posts) -

I thought they were meant to cover games the community was interested in? Because we clearly are in Princess Debut, this page wouldn't be the most visited on the site if that wasn't the case. Come on Jeff, you could at least just play along with the "joke"...

Well if things go bad and they end up not reviewing the game we can always lame it on the person who sent them the copy. "your the ones that sent out the free copy of a game because some average guy told you to!"

This game has Brad all over it. If we are taking bets what are the odds? I say:
1:1 Brad
1:2 Vinnie
1:16 Jeff
1:4 Ryan

Maybe he's just annoyed that the sort of attention Princess Debut is getting on Giant Bomb isn't being lavished upon Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe?  (I kid, Jeff!  I kid.)

Ryan: I have a beard.
Karen: That's cool, I like guys with beards. LOL :)
Ryan: Do you want to see my beard?
Karen: I bet it's like a biker's beard. It's like a biker's beard isn't it?
Ryan: Leave my beard out of this you trollop.
