Just curious which name is the more popular amongst fellow duders. I'd have to go with the original Princess Toadstool.

Yup. Can't say I really care.
Though she definitely was more brunette at one point. Even a little reddish in the first game.
@viking_funeral: Isn't that Daisy?

Toadstool had red/brown hair in Super Mario Bros. Daisy has brown hair now and was the princess in Super Mario Land
It made more sense that she was Princess Toadstool as she was royalty in the Mushroom Kingdom where her subjects were little toads and they lived in Mushroom houses.
Where's the peach?
Also Robotnik was a way better name than Eggman. Eggman is such an insult to that genius of a failed inventor.
And when did they change King Koopa to Bowser? Was that Super Mario World? Koops is way better.
@rebel_scum: I feel like it kinda makes sense that Sonic would come up with some dumb insulting nickname for Robotnik, but I don't like how they've all but replaced the name Robotnik entirely at this point. You would think he would at least make a point of trying to make it clear that he's really Robotnik.

He did refer to himself as Dr. Ivo Robotnik in Sonic Adventure 2 until he went full supervillain and blew up the moon.
I'm completely fine with the Eggman name because it created the best non-Generations song in the entire series.
He's got the master plan~
@rebel_scum: Bowser's actually secretly been Bowser since Super Mario Bros., according to the game's manual. He was just more commonly referred to as King Koopa or whatever until the SNES era. (Of course, in Japan, he's Koopa to this day.)
Speaking of Japan, Peach was Peach from the get-go over there (the get-go being, again, Super Mario Bros.). They changed her name to Toadstool for the western release because they thought it'd fit the mushroomy theme better. But I guess at some point they decided to go for parity between versions, so they casually switched it back.
Though really you can still call her whatever you want, since in Mario 64's opening she signs her letter as both Princess Toadstool and Peach. Guess her full name's Peach Toadstool?
Anyway, I think I prefer saying Peach, if only because Toadstool is kind of an annoying word to say.
@superkenon: I like that Bowser is supposed to be a sorceror.
My option isn't on there which is to say "I have no preference."
I always assumed they were different people anyway even though people keep telling me they are not.
*waits for people to tell me they are not different people and the reasons because it's really important that I be told that every time even though I prefer to not care one way or the other and wallow in my enjoyment of assuming they are different people because it doesn't actually matter*
I always kind of figured her full name was Peach Toadstool, but maybe not.
same here, even if it wasn't I figured this would be an easy way for Nintendo to retcon the situation effectively.
Alliteration is hard to beat, though P. Toadstool does have a ring to it. Canonically Toadstool does make more sense, considering the Kingdom and all them mushroom folk.
Princess Peach Toadstool makes a world of sense to me, though it sounds inane.
Peach solely because of Dan's Face/Off reference in the newest bombcast.
Yup. I was dying when I heard that. Dan's the best.
@superkenon: I like that Bowser is supposed to be a sorceror.
Well he's certainly not a wizard. Dude has never opened a book in his life.

If I were to let you suck my tongue, would that be Koopalingus?

It took me the better part of my childhood to figure out that Daisy and Peach were two different characters and they didn't just rename her at some point.
A bigger question I have is why she's apparently the only human in the entire Mushroom Kingdom. Is she adopted? Is she going to have to marry a mushroom person to accede to the throne?

Not sure if this is a reference to Dan and Drew's discussion of Dan's lost spelling bee. Also, Peach. Referring to someone by their last name is weird once you get to know them better.
Peach. Because it's a word.
Toadstool is also a word.
Peach. Because it's a word.
Toadstool is also a word.
Yeah but it's not a word to me
Kind of forgot they changed it.
They didn't actually change it. Here first name ( or possibly nickname) is Peach, but her full title is still Princess Toadstool.
In the wide world of Mario I'm non committal and can accept both. But I'd sooner tell people that I main Peach, as in Princess Peach, in Smash Bros.

Now we're going to find out what's in Papa's bag, Peaches!
@gvalo: So i never knew Daisy was a princess as well, i figured they just swapped the color pallette of peach to get another female character in their spin off games.
So mario is bouncing between ttwo princesses? what an italian plumber!
@onemanarmyy: Daisy is Princess of Sarasaland. Mariowiki says that in Melee her trophy says "some gossips started portraying her as Luigi's answer to Mario's Peach" and that the Mario Party 4 guide says that Luigi has a crush on her. So she went from being saved by Mario to Luigi.
@onemanarmyy: Daisy is Luigi's girl.
I prefer Peach because of the Rule 34 stuff. Toadstool would lead to a darker region of the cybersphere.
I always thought that princess peach was a name in reference to the japanese folktale Momohime ( peach princess)...which is why I like it better. Also the original name apparently.
I suppose it's one of those weird marketing renames that happened around that time. ( that or a mistranslation)
I thought the reddish hair on 2 was due to technical limitations tho. It was a re-skin of Doki doki panic as everyone knows, so why give any credence to it...At least we got birdo and the shy guys out of it.
More importantly, she's Peach now and that's not going to change.
I don't really care about the name change, but I really wish she had stayed a redhead/brunette.
Same. Link too.
