i dont understand the fascination with this thing.

Same here. Never even heard of this until just now. It all seems kinda dumb. I guess it's my skeptic nature to hate idiotic myths like this that further the dumbing down of our already paranormal obsessed society. Fucking read a non-fiction book people. Truth is much more fascinating.

This whole reveal is fucked.

1. It's a smart PR move at this point. People's minds are simple, and this will quell some of the anger.

2. A woman writing the game doesn't change anything. It can still be sexist.

3. Look at that picture of Pratchett. There's your sexism right there. So many women (except Hennig) who are involved in games development are shown like this. If she was a man it'd be 100% casual.

What the hell are you talking about?? That's a photo from her own damn website a photo she probably paid for and approved and probably likes. Goddamnit could we not call sexism on every friggin thing?? Yeah you're totally right, any woman who has a picture of herself where she looks attractive has clearly fallen victim to the misogynist game culture.

Bloody hell.

An interesting argument. Geraltitude - I think points 1 & 2 are totally solid. But I think you're extrapolating point 3 a bit too far. My first thought was that the writer of this story was making a subtle remark about sexuality and representation of women in the industry by choosing that picture over a more normal one. But, it's also just the first image that comes up in a google search, so take your pick as far as this website's intent.

Consider though also that she put this picture on her website to represent herself, and in that way, she's using her sexuality to market her own image. I don't know that this is sexism. Unless she can be sexist against herself? I don't know, that sounds odd. If anything I see this as more troubling because that kind of personal representation casts some doubt one whether or not she really is capable or writing a Lara Croft that isn't tinged with weird sexuality as well.

YES!!!! Women should all wear burkas without make-up to avoid the impression of self-sexism. I feel like alot you guys haven't been around a girl in a very long time. Trust me, most are in fact VERY particular about photos. Especially when they are for public view. Now you know and knowing is half the battle.

Of course there were. But they were drowned out by the people who did nothing but complain about how the game wasn't made exactly the way they wanted it. It's unfair that the loudest always ruin things for everyone else but I think it's pretty understandable for the press, and anyone else, to get extremely weary and jaded about the whole thing.

You know, the irony is that at the time, I found that absolutely EVERYONE talking about the ending in any capacity, on every thread, in every forum I went to, were drowned out by the people who were complaining loudly about the people who were complaining. It was like a massive internet temper tantrum over people supposedly being childish. I only ever saw a tiny handful of isolated incidents where people were actually saying dumb things like "sue Bioware" etc. On the other hand, there sure were a lot of "what a bunch of whining babies" posts. Pages and pages of them. It got tiresome.

I wouldn't call myself a huge Mass Effect fan, having only truly enjoyed ME2, but I found the concept for the game fascinating and often think of the impact it may have on games as a whole with regards to plot decisions and their affect on the world we inhabit as these characters. Within that context I found the ending to ME3 to be nearly shameful with regards to the fundamental design and premise of the Mass Effect series - without saying anything about it as the finale to the narrative itself. The fundamental undertone of the Mass Effect series was that this was a single story spanning over three games. The series seemed to identify itself as a game with an extremely strong point of pressure on the ultimate climax of saving the galaxy from the Reaper threat, which may have exacerbated this contention people have with it's ultimate conclusion. But more importantly the conclusion seemed irrelevant completely to every action you had made within this world, and to the core concept of the narrative design of the game in doing so, blatantly I might add.

This is only considering the actual design decisions of the game, which is something that would rest in the hands of more then just the writers, so as not lay fault at the feet of (apparently) one man, but an entire team. I have many issues with the conclusion's writing itself, but that is a much more subjective opinion I realize. Having said all this, I find it funny that games "journalists" are so quick to side with Bioware by attempting to vilify and dismiss this valid opinion as "entitled" or "internet whiners" in their contentions. This is an important conversation us as gamers should be allowed to have in improving games as a medium as well as enriching the gamer culture, and I find it worrying how many games "journalists", who, like it or not are the representatives to the less-invested, continuing to devalue the people who play games and their opinions.

I love you both so very, very much right now. Thank you for saying this so eloquently. Bravo!!

I'm sure everyone remembers the ending to Shadow of The Collossus. That was a bittersweet ending that is praised by the majority, to this day.

On almost every gaming site and podcast, I'm hearing enthusiast press call the disappointed fan-base, "entitled" or "ignorant". As stated in soooo many comments preceding mine, this is simply NOT the case. ME3 breaks it's own lore in more ways than one. Even if the indoctrination theory holds, that means they meant to either charge or give DLC for the ending. This is also disgusting and counter to everything ME is.

Sorry Patrick, your article reeks of "journalist" navel gazing. I still love ya though.

So yeah, I just played this and... it's pretty God-awful.

Really bad shooting/aiming. Terrible AI. Ugly visuals.

DO NOT BUY THIS!! If you have a morbid curiosity, simply rent it. Please do not support this kind of garbage with your dollars. There is plenty of better garbage for that.

I'm having a hard time understanding the Bastion love from this site or any other. I've found to game to be utterly confusing and pretty lackluster to be honest.

Can somebody tell me why, in the middle of combat, is a dude trying to convey story to me?? I'm having a beast of a time just surviving let alone trying to parse out what seems to be important dialogue.

The combat is also just kinda meh.

I have a few theories.

1. It might be one of those games that has a spectacular ending that changes peoples minds.

2. A former game critic is involved and therefore simply MUST be supported by his former comrades.

I have major issues with both scenarios as I'm sure so do most of you. But I gotta know. I keep trying to give this game a chance but man, I am just NOT enjoying it on any level.

Before anyone says "maybe it's not for you" let me remind you that I play EVERYTHING with exception of RTS. Also, this game is being championed by so many. HELP!!
