    From casual to less casual-er??
With all this talk about “casual gamers” and how they are taking over hardcore gaming, it brings me to the question, when will the casual step up to hardcore. Most people would probably say never, but i was thinking that the Playstation 2, would be a great step up from casual to hardcore, especially from the Wii, they have basically the same graphics apart from Playstation being slightly less Hi-Res which really shows sometimes, but that is not what the casual gamer cares about. Not the most obvious gaming choice nowadays

DOUBLESHOCK said: "These ranks are not what you are expecting! There are only 5 ranks, they are for determining skill level, and it's based off your Wins/Loses. The matchmaking system uses this in it's search to put you with similarly skilled players. It's not about trying to get the highest rank, these ranks simply say what kind of a player you are. Are you in a clan of rank 5 players? Or maybe you're a rank 3 player who just likes to have fun. Just think of them as skill levels." That is a really good idea, now none of ...

The Playstation 2 has a very basic controller which most people  could get to grips with rather easily. Also, the Playstation 2 has a huge amount of games, all very cheap which might encourage the casual player to broaden their horizons, games wise. If casual gamers stay as they are, all consoles will soon be overrun with these horrendous party games, even PS3 which sony says will stay hardcore but sooner or later they will want some of the money pie that is casual games.

I think it is time for casual gamers to try something new, because these casual games don’t usually show the great quality of games and the casual gamers will really start to miss out.

This post relates to: The Last Guy

I recently played the demo version of this rather "unique" PSN game, and i LOVED it.
It is basiclly you running around rescusing guys from zombies and it has a certain charm which i just love about these indie style games.
If you wanna know more download the demo

This post relates to: Gears of War, Halo 2

Microsoft recently announced that their Windows Live service(basically Xbox Live for PC but with around 5 games) is now free!
I have used this service only because I have xbox live so it is therefore free for me and it works fine but it really is lack of players and severe lack of game for the platform, I have Halo 2 and Gears of War, Halo has around 200 players worldwide on the PC, i just feels so old and clunky and being a port really doesn't help, it has really high system specs and it ONLY works for vista, that seemed a really strange move since at time of release vista had only been out for a while.
Next up is Gears of War, as you would expect the game looks amazing if you have a good enough computer, but that completely pointless since it freezes ALOT and thats even if you can get it to work!
So there yo have it two of the best Windows Live games and they are both over a year old, But hey it means more achievements!!

Perfect game for a growing console

i had only played numerous parts of all of the metal gear series, my favorite game in the series being MGS 2, until now.Of course I had high hopes coming into this game, from praise across all press, but I didn't know how special this game was until I really got stuck into the deep and rich story that is hard to follow in some parts but entertaining nevertheless. This is more accessible than other games in the series, this really helps newcomers get into the game.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer component called metal gear online works well with both run and gun, tactical action and even CQC, MGO is extremely enjoyable and will provide longevity for this great game

A game that changed Third Person Shooters

Prologue
I had first heard of this game at X05, a xbox 360 only convention, this game looked promising but the only footage really shown was a trailer. Fast forward 1 year to E3 06 where this game was shown off at the Microsoft press conference. This built up the hype so much that when I finally got the game I was ecstatic.
Review
This game was truly the first next-gen game, from the free-flowing cover system to the amazing Unreal 3 engine, this game is truly spectacular, and is played by many people to this day nearly 2 years after release.
The story could be better, it is a typical "aliens come to earth and take over" type situation, saying that it is still a immensely enjoyable game and one I urge you to play if you haven't done already.
Gears comes into its own with its great multiplayer, 4v4 player might seem small but it is pulled off perfectly.
It is a well balanced, extremely fun and gruesome multiplayer.
One of the best games of 06

Best XBLA game so far

This game is pure brilliance, from the amazing art-style behemoth in known for, to the hugeness of the game.
Not to mention this game is so very fun and addictive. The main story is about four princess' who have been captured by this evil wizard, so pretty basic stuff.
What makes this game even more enjoyable is the RPG elements that are used to level you and strengthen your character which from the beginning of the game you have four to choose from, each representing a different element. There is also a ton of unlockable extras such as weapons and little fat creatures which boost certain stats depending on which one you use.
Castle Crashers also has a 4 player co-op mode which is hilarious fun chopping baddies up with your friends, on top of that there is a versus mode which is also 4 player.
This game is definatly a complete package and have been well worth the wait and i reccomend it to everyone.

An almost perfect modern RPG

Mass Effect is the newest game from Bioware, the usually space RPG game but this has more of a shooter twist to it.

I love this game, it is a very accessible RPG game because of its heavy usage of guns, there are magic type abilities and tech abilities, which works very well and keeps the game fresh with new attacks.
There will always be a party following you which is now pretty standard stuff for a stat based RPG.

Ok, the plot for this game is simple but makes for compelling gameplay. Without any spoilers, there is a space UN type thing with different races, like aliens and humans and some other crazy looking monsters all have spectres which represent their race in this UN-esque government.
One spectre called Saren has betrayed the rest of the spectres, and it is your job and a newly appointed spectre to take him down, and all this makes for a decent sized RPG.

Even though this game is great it is full of small, annoying bugs from texture pop ins all the time, to AI buddies not doing what you want them to. If you get past the rather frustrating glitches, which is easily done you will certainly enjoy this game.

Throughout the story you will find many people who will want to help you through you quest and they all have very different stats and abilities which helps you to mix up gameplay to keep it fresh. These allies can also be levelled up and can use different weapons that they are trained in.

On the subject of weapons, there is a variety of them from machine guns, pistols and shotguns etc, a pretty standard affair but fun nevertheless.

Overall I absolutely love this game and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid RPG for the Xbox 360.It does have some annoying glitches but this really is a masterpiece of cinematic gaming.
