Major wasted potential yet very fun

The demo was really what worked me up about this game. In the demo it did not show any flaws but a demonstration of how annoying the time limit can be. So just because I thought it was a minor thing I went out and bought it.

The Good:
Graphics are great, blood and gore feels right, crazy storyline, sound effects match exactly what you are doing, cars that can run over lots of zombies, bizarre cutscenes, bosses are scary and the zombies act like they are zombies.

The Bad:
Save system is very annoying - While this does make the game more challenging, how could it be said that it will be fun needing to finish a boss all over again because you died while finding a savepoint?
Survivor AI - The survivors will not exactly make anything realistically easy for you. Instead they will absolutely love to kill everything in their path regardless of if there in the way or not.
Double Standard Boss AI - Every boss will feel like they are handicapped to the extreme, the first boss taking at least 15 bullets to the head until "just injured".
Time Limit - You cannot just play around in the game. You have to complete or arrive on each main mission which can be absolutely annoying when you are not in the mood.
Unlimited Lives Boss Encounters - I will not specify this exactly because of spoilers however for about 5/6 of the game a set of bosses will respawn regardless if you dealt with them before.

From what I was talking about earlier the wasted potential is practically everything, the bosses are no fun to kill most of the time, there are no teammates to help you besides the survivors which are not very smart and most of all there is a big stress about getting from point A to point B in a time limit without dying. It’s not a fun concept.

The best parts of the game are hidden because of a these flaws. I just wished they changed a lot of the storyline and concept to make the game more fun than it is an errand (in the game) chore.

What a waste of goodness

CellFactor: Revolution is possibly the best game that has been pushed and locked away in the dark. I would not be saying this if it costed anything more than $10. The game is just put down because hardly anyone has the intelligence to buy a good CPU or where against purchasing a PPU. Really I average around 30fps with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 and a GeForce 8600 GTS, no PPU. Though now I do have a 9800 GTX but I have not been able to test because the game refuses to load with the current Nvidia PhysX drivers.

Graphics: Nothing special it looks a lot better than most games that are said to be good looking such as Perfect Dark Zero. Per-pixel motion blur really adds something that not even CoD4 had.

Audio: Can get very annoying hearing your teammates scream out something at you like, there voice is really over the top post produced with very ugly filters. Besides the voice everything other sound is okay.

Gameplay: I am the type of person where I would buy a game just to play around with the PhysX, and the type of person that would dislike playing a game with shit physics [CoD4]. This game has a lot to offer to gamers like myself but to the people who are not too interested in physics would hate the game. Just look at how Alarm Fur Cobra turned out, all the players who do not care too much or at that simply hate the game.

Every "loose" object is dynamic and even some structures can be destroyed. Every character can interact with the dynamic objects by moving them with the characters body, shooting, telekinetic powers, vehicles and jumping. You can get kills by doing lots of different things; shooting explosive, hurling objects, weapons, run over with vehicles, slam (only for Guardian), using environmental objects to topple them and even throwing a vortex based grenade.

Cons: Voices are annoying, at the time you were forced to buy a PPU which would of been a major turn off to those who cannot afford one, no singleplayer, no story.

Pros: Physics, destruction, “PhysX Kills”, AI is actually intelligent, balanced gameplay, weapons feel realistic, crazy multiplayer, dynamic fluids, gases and cloths.

Conclusion: The game would only appeal to the “Physics Gaming” community of players, other than that most other people will simply hate the game because they will not feel what is good about the game.
