Super Mario 64,
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Due to the fact that my mom removed the cords for both my xbox and wii to "motivate" me to do my online english homework (it's working. I've written at least 2 essays in the past 48 hours) I decided to pull out my N64, only to remember what games I own for it. (
see my list). Then I looked at the N64 games I used to own (crap like mario party and pokemon snap) and realized something:
The N64 didn't have that many good games.
It's strong points are anything 1st party (i.e. mario or zelda in the title unless the mario is followed by any variety of sport or party), and anything from Rare (Mario 64 style games and goldeneye). The weak points were RPGs (Paper Mario being the only good one out of the 10 or so on the system), and pretty much anything 3rd party.
Does it dissapoint you that there wern't that many good games (or games for that matter) for it? Or are the 1st and 2nd party games so good that you can look past the now appearant flaws that have appeared after 10+ years? (Basically, can the N64 hold up as a console without nostalgia as a filter?)

What's the worst game you played in 2008?,
Resident Evil,
Orcs & Elves
I really can't pick out that many
bad games I have played. I guess all the (Pre-RE4) Resident Evil games I played this year can be considered bad (in a general sense, because I like them) because of how niche the appeal is outside the fanbase. I also played a little bit of Orcs and Elves, which is a pretty dumb and also bad game, not only because its a port of a cell phone game that originally retailed for the full $30 price. The fact that I have trouble remembering is a good sign that I played lots of good games this year I guess. Or maybe I just have a terrible memory.

Resident Evil 2,
Fallout 3
Does anyone actually read these blogs? If not why should I bother writing them?
Anyways, I had the weirdest experience last night, so I was playing Resident Evil 2 on my N64. (which I found at what is basically a pawn shop for electronic media for around $10) and, either because the controller is old and therefore somewhat janky around the joystick or the overall difficulty of the game.
I didn't want to play it anymore. That kind of scares me. I am a resident evil fan. I should be immune to complaints about bad control schemes!
On a completley different note I have no idea what to ask for christmas. I already have Fallout 3 and Banjo. (those were both the main games I wanted) What else? I really don't want to get COD:WAW because I know its just COD 4 in World War II, I have heard some negative things about both Fable 2 and Far Cry 2, so I'm not sold on those either. After that what else is there? Dang. I really am stuck.
Also, I think my mom is seriously thinking of getting the family a dog for christmas. I hate dogs. A lot.

What are your thoughts on how the PS3 and/or Wii have advanced now that both have reached their two-year anniversary?
The PS3, after having a disastrous launch due to lack of supply and the high price, has done much much better since then. Although it has lost a lot of exclusives, it still has the advantage of being a cheap Blue Ray player that also has great exclusives that are most likely not going anywhere else (Metal Gear Solid 4. Little Big Planet) as well as all the awesome games it shares with the 360 library (Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, GTA IV). All in all, if I didn't already have a 360 I would get one.
The Wii on the other hand has been fairly mediocre in terms of game selection. It's still a bunch of gimmicky minigame collections and crappy PS2 ports with motion controls. That's a good thing for Nintendo, but not very good for the people that frequent this site. They make lots of money from people who normally don't play games and we haven't seen a good release since Smash Bros. When I play my Wii (you pervert) I often play Virtual Console Games that I missed when I was younger instead of the wii games I have. Sad. Also, Nintendo has proven that they really don't get online gaming with their stupid and contrived friend code system as well as an overall lack of options if you just want to start a game.

How do you really feel about Starcraft II being split into three games?
Wow,
Three games just to justify how much time they are spending on the campaigns? I have no doubt that those who want to play the full campaign experience will buy them, but It all depends on the pricing. If they are all priced at $50 full retail then it's a ripoff. However, I have no idea how to price each version correctly without screwing a group of the consumer base.
