My Blog

Well today I checked a ton of classic SNES games' pages and noticed they're missing images I can easily obtain in perfect clarity through emulation. And since they are games I'm extremely familiar with, I have no trouble finding the obscure things.

Namely Star Fox. I've been submitting images for that all day long. Also Half-Life: Source, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Land 2, Super Mario World... I'm going to go check out Chrono Trigger's page after this blog, see if I can add the image I want of if it's already gone up! =D Oh, and now that I think about it, Unreal Tournament 3. I'll add some for that too.

Anyway, as you can see, I'm really getting at home with Giant Bomb. GameSpot is a little more... familiar, but this has a very nice wiki style to it that makes you want to submit things... all... day... O.O

Hello my GameSpot friends, it is I, DarCowAlways, bidding you welcome. It'll take me some time to get the hang of giant bomb (not exactly sure if this is wikipedia or beta gamespot =P) but it's nice to be here.

Shout outs to all my homies! XD

Unreal Anthology is an unreal collection

I currently own two copies of this game; one I bought for $20 and the other for $10. Both were amazing deals for me and I will reflect that here.

Unreal Anthology is a package of all the Unreal and Unreal Tournament games released on the PC, including their expansions and game of the year/editor's choice editions. The complete list is:

* Unreal Gold

* Unreal II: The Awakening

* Unreal Tournament Game of the Year

* Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor's Choice

While it does omit certain extras standard in the standalone editor's choice/game of the year packages, it is still more than a worthwhile package in that it combines all of these games into one disc, throws in a nice unmentioned extra; a soundtrack CD for the series, and includes all the applicable expansions and extra additions. And for $10, it has an incredible value. Each of these games could cost $10 or $20, yet this collection features all of them and more.

Now, reviews of every game in the package:

Unreal Gold: My least played part of this collection, Unreal Gold features a full-length storyline very much similar to Half-Life's, both in reputation and gameplay. While I would not recommend this game in a standalone package, its addition to this collection means completists will have every game in the series without having to track copies down of games they might not like. It also features sort of a prehistoric version of Unreal Tournament's bot match feature.

Unreal II: The Awakening: A fully fledged single-player game, Unreal II has graphics about at par with Half-Life 2's and a good storyline. It's not a deal-maker, but it is definitely a nice inclusion. Unreal II seems to try to be like any other FPS single-player game, and it definitely does. It's not a bad thing, because for anyone looking for a solid single-player game, it's the one for you.

Unreal Tournament: GoTY: This game is a classic which shaped the face of gaming today. While the graphics and textures, not to mention sounds, and HDR, and lighting... could use work compared to today's hottest games, the gameplay was simply ahead of its' time. The graphics may be a major turn-off to many, but the gameplay is still very solid and clearly thouroughly made.

Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor's Choice: The newest game package in the collection, Unreal Tournament 2004 easily has the most replayability and will probably be the most played game in the collection for the owner. It features tons of maps, 'mutators' (configurable settings which add or change different aspects of gameplay, such as mid-air control or 'vampire', which allows you to get health from hurting enemies), game modes, and overall content.

Incredible and Classic SNES goodness

The SNES had a number of brain-busting titles released for it, and Star Fox was no exception. Using advanced technology utilizing it's built-in SuperFX chip, the game created a 3D line-rider for players to navigate. It features three different paths of levels, each with it's own difficulty and level design. While some levels take place over Earth-like ground (Corneria), others may take space in space, over water-planets, and strange alien worlds.

This game for me is on-par with the most recognized games on the SNES. Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, these are all must-have games which shaped the gaming world as it is today.
