The Foreigner
I caught a really silly movie on television the other night. It was called The Foreigner, starring Steven Seagal. Now, if you're one for the cinema, you would probably don't remember this beinng on; I believe it went straight to video. I think they pulled a theatrical release because Seagal's previous film did bad. Good move? Well, yes. This movie was extremely dull. Let me highlight some points:- Over-the-top action effects - CHECK
- Do some cool shots of Steven Seagal looking 'badass' - CHECK
- Have a super awesome package that needs to be delivered to some mysterious guy - CHECK
- Make sure to include many villains who try to stop the protagonist delivering the package - CHECK
- Include some guy who never seems to die the first time - CHECK
I could go on with these. It's all just the same old stuff they keep trying to put in movies. If they do it right, that's fine but it just wasn't done right in this. They get Steven Seagal and then put him in an action movie and try to make it seem like every other action movie. However, it just sucked. I had no explanation on this package to be delivered, the plot (if any) was jumping around. It was basically going from location to location, getting ambushed by some bad guys, killing them in the most pathetic ways, then running out with the building blowing up.
I didn't think it sucked compared to the 2.8 rating on IMDb but still, if you're going to watch this, it's going to be one long bore of a movie. Hmm. I think I've seen Steven Seagal in a good movie but maybe that's just my imagination?
