This post relates to: What videogame franchise took the biggest turn for the worse?
It's easily Sonic for me, without any question!. Sonic Team have raped all the good stuff out of my favourite spiky furball and some of the games they have come up with beg belief. It has become a sad joke among gamers now, and with every new game on the horizon it brings fresh disappointment drawing near. I myself chuckle as if to say, what now?, what nonsense have they come up with this time.
Sonic Team should be well and truly ashamed of some of their past efforts, they have been a disgrace to SEGA in recent times and have let down the company big time. However, the Dimps game, Sonic Rush DS was for me a little ray of light in these recent bleak times. That game went back to basics and played to the strengths of the early games, while also adding enough innovation to keep things feeling fresh. T'was a great little gem of a game, one I found very enjoyable and refreshing. The new multi-format game seems to have taken some of that on board, still, I have been down this road far too many times now to get my hopes up now. When I see footage of this whole Werewolf Sonic I am not exactly filled with reassurance to say the least. However, the actual classically styled levels look great on the other hand, they seem to have merged the best of 3D found in the recent Wii game along with the best aspects from the early games.
Game upon game, Sonic Team bring the pain!, to many fans like me, I really hope that all ends. If it does not happen with this new game, SEGA should really then take him to the nearest mascot cemetery and leave him to rest in peace.
