PS3 is gaining ground, Wii going downhill
When the Wii and PS3 first launch. Wii had a major title (LoZ Twilight Princess) and followed by two games closely followed by most hardcore gamers which were Super Mario Galaxy and SSBB. After SSBB the Wii's game quality just went down hill and its just casual game after casual game with also a over-saturation of shovelware, and we all know what happens to a console with a over-saturation of shovelware *cough* Atari *cough*. Yeah Wii has its sales but thats about it. Online multiplayer is horrible, Holiday lineup is a joke, Nintendo seems to not care about core gamers ...
About Me
Sup, I'm Shadow2K6. I started gaming in '92. My first console was a Sega Genesis and my first game was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. As far as current-gen consoles/handhelds go I own Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, and DS. My two favorite consoles of all time are SNES and Dreamcast. I'm from New York and besides video games I like to skateboard, snowboard, listen to music, and just computer stuff. XBL: HyperComboXZ | PSN: Shadow2K6

What are your thoughts on how the PS3 and/or Wii have advanced now that both have reached their two-year anniversary?
When the Wii and PS3 first launch. Wii had a major title (LoZ Twilight Princess) and followed by two games closely followed by most hardcore gamers which were Super Mario Galaxy and SSBB. After SSBB the Wii's game quality just went down hill and its just casual game after casual game with also a over-saturation of shovelware, and we all know what happens to a console with a over-saturation of shovelware *cough* Atari *cough*. Yeah Wii has its sales but thats about it. Online multiplayer is horrible, Holiday lineup is a joke, Nintendo seems to not care about core gamers anymore, and most of us core gamers just use Wii as a emulation (Virtual Console games) console.
PS3 on the other hand did the exact opposite. It went from having hardly any games to having a bunch of quality with a bunch of killer apps. With the Wii only have Animal Crossing in its holiday lineup. PS3 has LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, and even MotorStorm Pacific Rift. Along with MGS4 from June. Their online setup is really improving and their online store is really getting a lot of content. The sales are even improving even if their not at Wii level but really how could you. The only way that could happen if Sony sold out (I'm looking at you Nintendo).
So all in all Wii has sales. PS3 has everything else. PS3 is a good alternative to 360 but Wii.....I haven't touched mine in since Wario Land Shake it (September) while I play my 360 and PS3 almost every day.

What do you think of the updated Xbox 360 dashboard? What about avatars?
I like the look of it (for the most part) and I like the idea of installing games.
There is just one thing I hate. Avatars, it really is a Mii ripoff. I rather stick to my Gears of War 2 gamer picture I got for beating insane then have some cartoony avatar. It just seems like a stupid attempt for Microsoft to appeal to casuals and ripping off the Wii of course =P.
Otherwise I like how the menus look now and how themes look on it. I also like how it has 8-player party/chat. The other feature I wouldn't say I like but I don't hate either. Is Netflix. I'm the type of person who will always say Games > Movies. I think out of all the movies I own I have 1 blu-ray (Casino Royale) and 5 DVD movies. Not really a movie person so I think its a pointless feature and I would never pay a monthly fee just to watch movies. I think its good for people who have it but I don't really see the point.
So basically.
Good: Menu Design, 8-player chat, installing games
Bad: Avatars
Neutral: Netflix

Have you ever waited in line for a midnight game release before? If so, what was it like?
Went to the Gears 1 midnight launch. Was fun. Then I went to the Halo 2 midnight launch somewhere in the suburbs. I'll say this. Its only fun when your in a major city. Otherwise extremely boring.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift,
Fallout 3
I got Fallout 3 from Gamefly last Thursday and been playing it ever since. I also bought MotorStorm: Pacific Rift on Thursday. Here's my impressions of both games.
Fallout 3
HUD is Nice and simple =D
The beginning is kind of like Oblivion in a broad kind of way. Your in this sort-of prologue of the game where your skills are set and you escape to the open world. Instead of escaping the sewers into a colorful world. In Fallout 3 you escape a vault into a post-nuclear wasteland. Personally I think the game is a lot better then Oblivion. First off. I'm the type of person who hates playing games that take place in the past (Oblivion for example) but I love games that take place in the future (Fallout 3, Mass Effect, etc). That be said I do prefer Fallout 3 to Oblivion. I like the combat system and V.A.T.S. is pretty useful. I'm about 13 hours in and as far as karma goes I'm at "Good". However after I bombed one of the towns (Megaton) I had "Very Evil" karma for the first 5 hours of the game.
In the end I think its a great game so far and definitely exceeds Oblivion IMO. Just for the reason its easier to follow quests and a lot more ADD friendlier =P. Great game and I think everyone who likes RPGs should buy it. NAO!!!!!
MotorStorm: Pacific RiftI was at Circuit City talking to some guy about working there and I went to the video game section and saw MotorStorm Pacific Rift. So I bought it. $60 =P.
Monster Trucks!!!!
Anyways. The game is good. Still has those great graphics the first one had. Has a better online setup (Matchmaking yay!) and 12 players online multiplayer just like the first one. There are 16 tracks on the disc which is a major improvement over the first game. The single player mode is called "Festival" which is where you just play tracks and you gain points for each level to advance (gaining vehicles and extras with each level) which I think is a great idea for single player.
As far as multiplayer goes it was pretty good. No lag so far. The matchmaking also works really well. Of course the trophies are not really hard to get but they are harder then some other PS3 games like Burnout Paradise (so somewhere in the middle). My only complaint about the game is that the handling is a little loose but it just makes you more reliant on the E-Brake (which you probably never used in the first game). I wouldn't exactly call it a negative but it does take some time to get use to. Overall I think its a great game and definitely worth a buy or at least a rent for people who like off-road racing games.
Other Non-Gaming/Gaming Stuff =/ Like I said in my Motorstorm: PR impressions I was at Circuit City talking to one of my friends to try and get a job there since they were hiring. I filled out a application on their site on Saturday and ended up getting a call yesterday for a interview on the 7th (that was quick lol). Well me being a idiot I thought they ment yesterday and not the seventh. So I called them and tried to reschedule for Monday (which I thought would be today but turns out its the 8th). I got to wait for a call but if all goes well I'll be working at Circuit City as a Customer Service Rep =O. Also I talked to the manager he said he doesn't think the store will close (since the news report said that certain Circuit City stores are closing) he said no stores in the area will be closing, so I'm good =D.
College wise. This week should be pretty simple (thank god, Gears 2 on Friday too =D). My english teacher canceled all classes this week so instead we just see her for a mini-conference on our papers. I still have to do my research paper (5 pages) due Wednesday and haven't started yet. Besides that I don't really have to do much. Friday I'm not doing anything at all except going to Circuit City at 10 AM to get Gears of War 2 and playing it all day. =P

Fallout 3,
Burnout Paradise
PSN Pre-Paid Cards....You can actually find them now =D
What I'm about to say is both sad and funny but here goes. Before I go into the PSN card I'm going to go in a little story about Burnout Paradise. I bought the game back in February for Xbox 360 (well my brother bought it not me). Well like a month ago I lent it to a friend. A week ago he said his cousin (while my friend was not home) broke it. Right. He gave me $30 (which is what its worth now, and I told him I didn't really want the money). So I got $30 on sunday. I said to myself. Why don't I just buy the PSN Download for Burnout Paradise since it has trophies =P.
On monday after I took a accounting test. I went all the way to walmart (because thats the only place I know that has Playstation Network cards. Also a FYI for non-PS3 gamers Playstation Network cards work just like Microsoft Point cards and Wii Point cards. The reason you can only find them in certain places is because they weren't available from launch like the other two. Sony has been rolling them out into new stores each month (October it went to Best Buy and Walmart), so thats why =P.
Anyways. Burnout Paradise costs $29.99 on the Playstation Store. I already had $11 on my account so I bought the PSN card from Walmart ($20 worth) and entered it in. One thing I like about these cards over Microsoft point cards is that there is less numbers and letters to enter. I can't really tell you how long it took to download because I fell asleep while it was downloading =/. If I remember right its about 3GB though. I also got McDonalds with $6 of the remaining $10 I had from my friends money =P, I haven't had McDonalds in a month so thats why.
Burnout Paradise PS3 version impressionsI went into this game thinking it was exactly like the game I played. I was sort of wrong. I never downloaded the updates for the 360 version (which are also in the PS3 version) that enabled motorcycles and stuff so it was a familiar experience but refreshing at the same time. I like the game so its not like I have a problem with replaying it and I never did get my burnout license on the 360 version so I didn't officially beat it yet. Online is good, works just like the Xbox 360 version. I didn't really experience any lag. Trophy wise. The trophies are a lot easier to obtain in this game then the achievements in the Xbox 360 version. I think thats a good thing since I'm a achievement/trophy whore =P. I think it was worthy purchase, especially since I purchased it with my friends money.
Fallout 3 SituationYeah its 5:47 AM. I'm doing my Microsoft Excel homework for Intro to Computers and I'm checking Gamefly every minute to see if they shipped Fallout 3. It says available now so it should ship. Especially since I've had it on my queve for 3 weeks. I even removed Resistance 2 so its the only game on my queve. I'll be pissed if it doesn't ship =/.
Closing Comments
Yeah so besides the homework for Intro to Computers. I don't really have any homework. So for the rest of this week I'm dedicating my free time to gaming (except for Friday, going to a halloween party =D). Going to get through Burnout Paradise until Fallout 3 gets here (if it gets here) and then play that. Hopefully it will be good. OXM did give it a 10 but you know how easily they give out 10s *cough* Fight Night Round 3 *cough*. Anyways l4terz.

I've been anticipating this game since it was first announced about a year or two ago (I forget the exact date). It has finally has been released for the Xbox Live Marketplace, so here it my review.
Castle Crashers at its core is your basic hack n' slash side-scroller. If your like me and grew up on the SNES/Genesis then you played tons of these sort of games. Castle Crashers takes it one step further by implementing RPG elements like leveling up, new skills when leveled up, etc.
In the beginning of the game you have a choice of four knights who each have their own special magic attribute. They are Red Knight (Electricity), Orange Knight (Fire), Green Knight (Poison/Sludge) and Blue Knight (Ice). However in the game if you complete different tasks (Arenas, beating the game with a certain character) you will unlock more characters.
The story itself starts when your character is headbanging then some knight falls into the room with arrow in him. You soon find out that a powerful wizard steals some sort of giant stone, along with the enemies kidnapping four princesses. This is where you start your quest. The game itself is decent length for a arcade game and probably take you 3-4 hours to complete maybe even less in co-op.
In the game there are also a massive amount of weapons to collect which all have their own strengths and weakness (they add or minus your stat attributes). There are also animal orbs that will give you a advantage like finding secret items or helping level you up faster. There is also Xbox Live support for co-op (also co-op on local play) for up to 4 players and two other multuplayer games. There is a shortcoming with the online play, a lot of times the game will freeze up when you join a game or everyone will just kicked to the main menu.
The overall is a great addition to anyones arcade game collection for anyone who likes a good hack n' slash game.
Overall4.5/5 Stars - The game is great 2D Hack N' Slash game and is certainly worth the 1,200 microsoft points. Even if the online multiplayer does have some flaws.
Presentation4/5 Stars - The game's design is pretty well-rounded. It looks refreshing but nothing out of the ordinary. The story is decent enough for a arcade game though. The only drawback is the flaws in the online multiplayer which can put off some gamers.
Graphics5/5 Stars - Probably the best of any arcade game on the marketplace. Very nice art design as well.
Sound5/5 Stars - One of the best parts of the game is sound. The game despite it being a arcade game has one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a game. The music has a very epic feel to it and goes very well with the game.
Gameplay5/5 Stars - Being a 2D-scrolling hack n' slash sure brings back memories of the 16-bit era but it does keep it fresh with rpg elements like leveling up.
Lasting Appeal
5/5 Stars - The game will probably only take you 4 hours your first time through. Though you'll probably want to beat it multiple times. With all the secrets and unlockables in Castle Crashers it will keep you replaying section you played multiple times.

Awesome Multiplayer, so-so single player.
First off I want to point out that i'm not really big on the Battlefield series and I only played Battlefield 2 (for PC and original Xbox) briefly. That being said I thought this game was great, specially the multiplayer aspect.
First off i'll start with the single player part of the game. Basically EA/D.I.C.E. I guess wanted to have a single player that was worth playing in the battlefield series in a way they succeeded and in a way they didn't. There is a story even though I found it to be kind of corny and dull. If your expecting a Gears of War or Halo epicness kind of story then you won't find it here. Basically your this new guy put into this team of trouble makers called "Bad Company" which the military puts them in the battlefield which a very low percentage of survival. The game is extremely linear and your pretty much just complete mission after mission. The team AI is extremely bad (or at least I thought so. There were times in the game we were around a tank for 2 minutes and I was out of rockets yet Haggard (the demolition expert in the team) didn't even try to shoot a rocket at it. This actually happens a lot and it makes you feel very frustrated especially in medium and hard difficulties. However one good thing is when you do respawn all the damage and enemies you done still exist so in theory you could just keep respawning and eventually beat the level/mission. The single player campaign will take you 6-8 hours to beat depending on what difficulty you play on. I played on Medium and I beat the campaign in 7 hours.
Now for the multiplayer aspect, the reason you probably bought this game. Its great. If theres anything they nailed right in this game its the multiplayer. The online multiplayer can hold up to 24 players which is a decent size for a console online game and most of the game I was in were around 20-24 players at most times. The ranking system is based off points (think Call of Duty 4) and even though its on a 1-25 leveling system (instead of the more common 1-50) its still very good. Theres are many awards like trophies which adds replayablility for the multiplayer. There are 5 classes that are very well balanced depending on what map you are playing and how you approach the enemy. When played online I hardly ever experienced lag. The only only negative part of the multiplayer is that they just have one gametype called Gold Rush in which you either protect your gold crates (you have a bunch of bases and two at each base) or attack the gold crates by shooting at them, shooting at them with a tank, or laying a explosive on it. To win you need to destroy all the gold crates if your attacking or deplete all the attacking teams respawns if your defending. This is a great gametype but it seems kind of limited there is only one gametype. EA has promised that Conquest would be available in a update after launch so that could add some variety to just the one gametype Gold Rush.
Overall the game is great. The single-player is somewhat decent and the multiplayer is great. If your looking for a great online multiplayer game that revolves around team work then you'll like Battlefield Bad Company.
