When you take into account  the visuals, gameplay mechanics, features, and overall story of Gears of War 2; honestly it's 10 times better than the first. When compared to other shooters, say Halo, the characters and the universe in the Gears of War franchise are more compelling, and frankly better written, that'll keep the player interested to progress through till the end.

I agree. There really isn't any reason for me to purchase the PS3 anyways. Sure there are a few games I would like to experience, but is it really worth $499? Plus what other game, besides Socom: Confrontation, is coming out in the future the the console? Exactly. Sony needs to focus less on competition and focus more on the games. Hit titles that were once on the Playstation brand have already migrated over onto the 360, and for ...

About Me
Gaming is what I do. I've been enjoying my hobby since the Atari 2600 and will continue to do so till the end of my days.
My Blog

No it's not one of those blogs about how a self righteous person can make you feel good in an otherwise seemingly worthless life. Don't worry it's not like that. I figure since nothing much is happening in the gaming industry, as of late, I'll blog about what I'm doing here in the economy stricken state of Michigan.

The good 'ol Xbox 360 is still out of commission, taking a vacation over at the repair shop called Microsoft, or wherever the hell it's at right now. Thank God for UPS tracking numbers right? So in the mean time I've been drooling over the PS3 and lamenting the days where games like God of War or Jumping Flash put a smile on my face.

Since owning a 360 I've grown accustomed to the excitment and anticipation of big budget games like Gears of War, Halo, and the various others that made the console famous. Then I realized that the selection of games for the system was just that - big budget games.

After Sony's press conference at E3 '08 (which was the best showing this year, in my opinion) I've been antsy to play the old classics again on the Playstation brand. Including Ratchet and Clank, God of War III, Resistance 2, and the various others. Even the PSP attracted my attention with games that the handheld desperately needed, including the awesome bundles Sony is offering. Home, once again, was a no show with the exception of a video of the service, whoo-hoo! I guess they're demonstrating to the public that Home isn't quite dead.

Other than that I've been reading the Dragonlance novels; Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman. The first three books that start off the Dragonlance saga. So far they're good books, a little dated since they've been written in the early 80's, but still good.

I'm currently working on Final Fantasy X and FFX-2 will be next on my roster of "games I haven't played yet". I miss those JRPG's. Great stories but lack exploration, versus the western RPG's that contain exploration but lack story. You get one or the other with I guess.

I've read that the new Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep is coming to the PSP. You can find the entire article here if you so desire to read it. I'm curious if it'll be ported onto the PS2 sometime in the future. I'm sure it will.

Also Magic: The Gathering has been keeping me busy as well. And even though I haven't played in 5 years, which I'm still learning the new abilities and rules from the latest expansions of the game, I'm looking to join a league or even a tournament to hopefully win some prizes.

Anyways, as the time goes by and the girlie friend is heading home from work, I have to draw this to a close. Goodnight everybody and try not to flood the response section with your over excitement of my blog here.

Those early rumblings just might be true. Back in May, rumors swirled that filmmaker Brett Ratner was directing the God of War movie. In a MGM press release for the new RoboCop movie, there's this bit of info:

David Self’s credits include 13 Days and Road To Perdition. He wrote God of War for Universal, to which Brett Ratner is attached to direct, and was a writer on Universal’s Wolfman currently in production.

That press release is obviously incorrect. It should read: "He wrote God of War for Universal, to which Brett Ratner is attached to direct and fuck up."

Q-Games has become a growing developer in the past few months with titles in the PixelJunk series like PixelJunk Racers, PixelJunk Monsters, and the upcoming PixelJunk Eden. In this video you'll see the many cool features that Eden will support, along with gameplay footage, and it's impressive. I personally like the quirky, unusual games, that you won't see anywhere else.

When Mirror's Edge was first introduced I wasn't sure what to make of it. Is it truly a game or will this fade away like the rest of the over the top games of yester- year?

This demo, although interesting, hasn't changed much from the initial trailer shown months ago which leads me to believe that the trailer and the gameplay footage are one in the same. Personally I would like to see more of what Mirror's Edge has to offer in the future.

God of war review

God of War II = Brilliant! That's it, thanks for reading.... I only jest.

It's not often that a sequel is better than it's predecessor, with the exception of the Final Fantasy games. God of War II takes you on a journey of betrayal, hate, and ultimately revenge, as the determination of Kratos takes him back to Mount Olympus.

I must say, though, that GOW II is far more difficult than the one before it. Especially towards the end. But overall it was a brilliant game with alot of memorable moments.

The controls are what you would expect from the first God of War, primarily because Cory Barlog, the games director whom have been along side David Jaffe in creating the first game, with a few minor tweaks in gameplay with climbing on the ceiling, and new abilities and weapons such as Typhons Bane which is a wind bow. So if you've played the first God of War you'll know exactly how the gameplay mechanics plays out.

As mentioned before, without giving anything away for those of you who haven't played God of War II, the story is about the betrayal of Zeus, the god of thunder, and the hate for the gods that allowed the nightmares of the past to haunt Kratos and what he's done.

I know that I'm late in the game, but I don't care. I highly recommend God War II especially now that it's $20. I can't for the next game in the GOW series.

Repetition drains the fun out of any game.

Assassin's Creed is one of those games that makes a person gitty with anticipation before launch. Unfortunately this title takes a step back in innovation. Sure the player can fight multiple enemies using many different methods - hidden blade for silent kills, or throwing knives and swords while fighting multiple, over aggressive, guards - but it's been done before in other games like God of War. Even collecting information about the next target before assassinating them gets old as Altair eavesdrops, pick pockets, interrogates, and even finds view points to explore the city. Tasks that get old after awhile.

What saves this title from a bargain bin purchase is the alteration of religious themes that may seem interesting to some but may also be a little controversial to others. But even then the story driven action doesn't pick up until the game is almost over.

In the early days of this titles' creation what was held proud by the developer, Ubi Soft, doesn't seem like a big deal. Gently pushing innocent civilians aside to pass through a crowd without alerting the guards or jumping from one rooftop to the next, isn't innovative.

The controls in Assassin's Creed sometimes can get a bit frustrating when trying to escape the relentless pursuits of the city guards. For example: When pressing a particular direction on the left analog stick immediately while either climbing a latter or hopping onto a horse to ride off to safety, the calibration of the controls become inverted for a few seconds making the lead character move in the opposite direction resulting in some frustrating moments.

In a game where your being continuously chased, you don't need the controls to change on you whenever it feels like it.

Altair as the lead character is one cool dude in terms of personal conduct of how he handles himself in fights. To me personally he's up there with Solid Snake and Kratos. Even though the character developement for him isn't that great, like the other protaganists, I enjoy the mystique qualities about him.

All in all this game is worth of at least a rental. The story is great but the action oriented gameplay was too repetitious for me. But be sure to see a sequel coming in the near future as the ending leaves you with questions that need to be answered.
