I'm sorry but American Football is a stupid sport, it's called "foot"ball, but you mostly use your hands when you play the game. What's up with that? We (British) call soccer, "football". Because you use your feet to play the sport, except when you play as the goalkeeper. Surely you should call American Football "American Rugby". That's my opinion.

10 days to be exact. But I needed a break from blogging to concentrate on my assignment work for college and among other things. a.k.a. COD5, GOW2, Fable 2 and Fallout 3.

  • I got COD5 two days early (12 Nov) thanks to Play.com sending me it the previous day and the game arriving through the post, the next day. The game is awesome! I have just completed the campaign on normal, it is about as long as the COD4 campaign, but I found it more exciting with a bigger battleground to wreck havoc on in the final mission. Expect a review for that when I have time for it.
  • GOW2 also came early by one day. This game is a major improvement over the first GOW. The campaign is a lot more fun to play through, the multiplayer is bigger, better and more badass and those cool finishing moves are a joy to pull off! I have done the campaign on casual and I am about half way through the campaign on normal.
  • Fallout 3 has been on the back burner for a bit I am in Rivet City at the moment, doing quest and other sorts of interesting things.
  • So has Fable 2 as well, I just played it today in fact. I've just got up to the part where you have to build up your renown so that the Reaver (The Hero of Skill) will speak to you.
  • Finally Left 4 Dead is on the horizon, I played the demo and liked the frantic pace that you must play the game. That is a must buy for me. Also the New Xbox Experience is just around the corner, about a week I think, I don't know, I haven't been keeping track of when it's getting released. I have mixed feelings about the whole new experience concept and the avatars (Mii's, but with more customisable features).

That's all for now. Expect a Fallout Review some time during next week. Well it is nearly next week at the time of typing this in the UK.

See you all later.

I will just summarise what I have done so far in the game:

  • I have played up to about Act 4 in the Campaign.
  • I played Horde for a bit where me and four other guys got up to Wave 4, which is okay I guess for our first time.
  • Also I paired up with my mate and went through the first Act in Campaign in Offline Coop.

As you may have guessed, I got a lot of people on my friends list messaging me asking how I got it a day early.

Overall I think the game is 3 times better than the first Gears Of War from what I have played so far.

I was planning to do the Fallout 3 Review today but that will have to wait until the weekend and then the weekend after that I will do the GOW2 Review. After this week there is COD5!

Holy Shit! As Carmine would say. We are in for a busy month.

See you on GOW2!

This post relates to: Fable II, Fallout 3

I am very much in love with Fallout 3 at the moment, even though I haven't had much time to play it today, I still love it! I am at the Atom Bomb in Megaton at the moment, I haven't done any thing other than have a quick look around the shacks and stalls. For the review I am going to do what I did for the Fable 2 review, I am going to play it for about a week to get to know the game and then I will review it.

So yeah this is kind of a short blog, I don't know if I will blog any time in between this one and the Fallout 3 review.

So, I will see you all later.

The World Of Fable 2 is a vast, charming and stunning achievement. The streets of Bowerstone have busy with activity and the wilderness between each community is filled with the chance for exploratation. You start the game off as a little child, starving to death on the streets with your sister. Until a startling event happens that turns your world up side down. Now you are a strong, young man, you are ready to step out in to the world of Albion...

With the exciting storyline out of the way, the game play in Fable 2 consists of working your way from town to town helping the people with tasks and choosing whether to do it the good way or the evil way. In your travels between these towns you will encounter creatures or humans that will attack you. To combat these foes, you have Hand to Hand Combat, such as Katanas, Cutlasses, Maces and Axes. Long Ranged Combat: Crossbows, Rifles and Pistols and Shock, Inferno and Raise Dead as examples for Magical Attacks. These attacks are mapped to the X (Hand to Hand),Y (Long Ranged) and B (Magic) buttons. This allows for a basic and simple strategy for a plan of attack and you can easily link up the different attacks for a different situation, it's a system tthat is very easy to use. If you happen to die, which shouldn't be very often, then you will recieve scars from your lost battle. The death system is very forgiving and all you do is come back alive exactly from the place you died, but with some experience lost.

There is a lot to do in Albion, the game gives you that freedom of exploration. You can get married, have protected or unprotected sex with your wife (or husband), if you choose the later, you could have a little child of your own. There are properties to buy like shops, pubs, houses etc. That you can earn money from by renting out the houses, selling the products from your purchased shops. There are plenty of side quests to do that will earn you moeny and one of the most important aspects of the game called "Renown".
Over the fields and far away!
This mechanic is determined by doing good or evil things. Like if you kill a lot of people, other people will hate you or if you stop some bandits, people will want your autograph. You can persuade the citizens of Albion to like or hate you by using the expression wheel that lets you choose different actions that express your feelings such as make people laugh, scare people, be rude to them, flirt with them and many others. These mechanics also change your appearance by which path you choose to go down. Finally, the way that you can level up your character is by collecting experience orbs that burst from downed enemies. When you get enough of these orbs you can level up a part of one of the available skills.

The graphics in Fable 2 are pretty amazing, the environments are nicely done, from the busy streets of the Bowerstone Market to the luss green wilderness, it gives you that immersive feeling that you want from an RPG. The character models look great and are very detailed and believable. Although there are a couple of graphical issues that hinder from it being perfect. Like AI characters going through closed doors and dead enemies glitch like crazy if they land on some thing other than the ground. But those are the main issues I had with the game.
Take that, you naughty villian!

Audio has never been a problem for LionHead Studios. Ever since the first Fable for the original Xbox, the music has been beautiflly composed to fit every mood and environment in the game. This is some of the best audio, that you will be able to find on any game.

There is offline online co-op for you and a partner to do whatever you want, where you want. All you do when you want to play some one online, is go up to a orb that floats around the world (This represents another person playing in their own game) and interact with them. You can send them an invitation to your game, send them a gift, view their stats to find out more about them or kick them from your game.

Fable 2 can last up to 30-40 hours if you find every thing that this world has to offer and there is a lot that will keep you occupied for a long time.

In conclusion, Fable 2 is a fantastic game in it's own right and to me it was totally worth the wait.

Score: 9.5/10

FIFA 09 Review

It's great times for football fans, one reason is because the new english football season has started and the other because we are treated to the latest and perhaps greatest FIFA game that EA has churned out. Now I personally have been playing Pro Evo for the past two years, so don't expect me to be a FIFA know it all.

EA has brought the same great gameplay from it's Euro 2008 title, which in a way is kind of disappointing and annoying because they couldn't be bothered to even tweak it. But so what. EA have raised their game in the yearly battle against Konami in the fight to be the best football game developer out there.
Flick It Up!
This game engine makes the players more responsive on and off the ball, but if your not controlling a player like Messi or Ronaldo (Speed Demons!) then you won't be leaving the defenders on their back sides. So the speed of the game is kind of slow but that suits FIFA 09 to a tee, because it is more of a pass and move game than a beat defenders with one man tactic.

The graphics have never been a problem for the FIFA series, EA has always presented that great football spirit from the supporters to the stadiums. The player models are realistic as ever, from Wayne Rooney to Ronaldhino, you will recognise every player you see. Overall the visuals are top notch. Another ascept of the FIFA series that never fails is the audio, the solid commentary, the well suited soundtrack and the on and off ball effects make it feel well presented.

FIFA 09 has plenty of modes and opitions to play and fiddle around with, the online 10 vs 10 mode, Manager mode, Be a Pro mode, Adidas Live Season and the updated team tactics system. All of this will take up a lot of your playing time.

In conclusion, EA have done their greatest FIFA ever. Pro Evo will have to be an excellent game to beat this.
Over to you, Mister Konami.

Pure is an insane experience that you will love!

Pure is a ATV, off road, trick based, racing game that is set in lush and beautiful landscapes. It uses huge ramps to pull those big and crazy tricks and brings its own competitive edge to the races with 16 player online and offline modes. The gameplay is Pure's main strength which it utilitizes by an effective and user friendly trick system. This scheme only allows you to pull off the basic tricks at first by pressing the A button and a direction on the analogue stick or D-pad but as you do more tricks, your Thrill Bar grows to unlock the B, Y and Special (RB and LB) trick buttons. To gain more air and time to pull a trick or two then you must preload by holding down on the analogue stick and pushing forward as you go over a ramp.  Also if you are trailing behind the pack, you can use your Thrill Bar as a boost meter by pressing the X button.

The main game mode in Pure is the World Tour, where you compete in a series of stages that have different race types to gain points which moves you up the World Tour leaderboard to ultimately be the top ATV, off road driver. These race types are Race, Sprint and Freestyle. Race, well.. explains it self, Sprint is similar to a race but with hardly any ramps, a short curcuit and more laps. Finally Freestyle features power-ups that racers battle to grab during the event. Stars give you an instant Special Trick (good for mad points if you can pull it off), a 2X doubles your score for a limited time, and a nitrous icon fills your boost. Build your trick meter, pull sick tricks, chain them together before the combo meter runs out, and you'll stay alive. Other modes include a Single Event and Time Trail, which is pretty disappointing that there couldn't be more game modes like a tournament. The online is very well done with  Ranked and Player matches for Race, Sprint, Freestyle and the online exlcusive Freeride mode for up to 16 players.

In Pure, you have to have a stunning back drop and this game doesn't disappoint in that department. There are 12 different areas, from the airplane graveyard of Ocotillo Wells, Calif., to the tropical island of Kosa Phi in Thailand. The stunning environment that gives you that warm feeling inside. But after a while when you have seen these 5 or 6 times they begin to feel a bit stale.

The sound and audio is quite brilliant, a quad bike reving up at the start of an event, the cheering of your character as you land an insane stunt or the opening chords to "Woman" by Wolfmother give you a sense of excitement to this game.

The longevity of Pure is another issue that could have been fixed with more game modes. But I think most people will be satisfied with the overall thrill factor of the package.

In conclusion, Black Rock Studios has done a fantastic job in delivering a exciting off road experiences that nearly any one will enjoy!

Too Human does somethings right but a few issues hold it back.

Too Human is a unique game in it's own way, it encorporates an hack and slash feel to the combat, while the environment is of a RPG quality in a wonderfully, beautiful setting of Norse Mythology. You play as Baldur, son of ODIN and member of the Aesir, who are a group of Gods sent by ODIN to protect mankind. The basic storyline is that there's a traitor in the ranks and you have to investigate exactly what happened, by going to these different places.

The gameplay in Too Human is enjoyable, in the way that you bounce from one enemy to another, hacking your way through a crowd of enemies using the right analog stick or just simply blasting them apart by using your special Ruiner (RB Button) and Battle Cry (X Button) attacks. Baldur may also flick an enemy up in to the air and beat them to a pulp. Your character has different combos at his disposal using both of the analog sticks. As you kill enemies you level up your character and you gather loot to develop your own personal look on Baldur. Gaining levels gives you access to better armour, weapons, runes and charms.

The five classes are the Bioengineer, Commando, Champion, Defender and Berserker. All of these classes have their own direction in the Skill Tree, which you use to determine which special bonuses, you want your character to have. But you can choose a different way in the Skill Tree, to make your character different from an average one. Some key issues with the gameplay is that when you die in combat, you are forced to watch a cutscene showing a Valkyrie coming down from the heavens, picking up your corpse and carrying it up into the sky. This cutscene does get quite irritating after a while. During a level, Baldur will have to enter cyberspace using a well, which are dotted throughout all the levels. When in Cyberspace, your character will have to complete a small task that, for example, opens a locked door in the real world. These are okay but they could have been implemented better in to the gameplay.

Silicon Kinghts have pulled off the graphics extremely well, though there are some technical issues, for instance: When Valkyrie picks you up, his/hers/it's feet go through the floor, which makes it look quite unpolished, like some of the other aspects of the game. The general look of the Norse period is very nice to look at and the characters look pretty amazing in my opinion.

The audio is rather quite good and SK made sure that they backed up the great graphics with some realistic audio. But the same can't  be said for the voice acting, to say the least it's quite stale and you don't feel connected to the character, until right at the end when the game has nearly finished.

Too Human has cooperative multiplayer, where you can play through the campaign with a friend and swap loot with each other. Although you can't watch cutscenes in multiplayer, it's nice to have this mode.

Overall, Too Human is a success in some ways, but in others it falls on it's face. With a couple graphical glitches and gameplay issues. These problems hold Too Human back from being a great game.

Call Of Duty 4 has a blend of great action and thrills.

The first three COD's are all very good games, developed by Treyarch, who made three great and realistic World War 2 games. But none of these compare to Infinity Ward's COD4, they decided to take a extreme risk by making the fourth COD set in modern times and it has paid off.

The campaign follows a British Spec Ops Team and the US Forces in their fight against the Russians and the Middle East. It excites you from start to finish but as every one is saying, it is short. The campaign will last about 6 hours on the lowest difficulty and on Veteran about 10 hours.

That doesn't matter though because you will be spending most of your time on the brilliant multiplayer, the interface is much like the Halo 3 menu. There are many features and customisable options including: An ranking system where you have to earn experience points through out a game by getting kills, assists , completing challenges or activating the radar for your team, calling in a airstrike and calling in a helicopter. Challenges to complete during a online match to unlock new weapons, weapon upgrades or perks, Create a Weapon Class, Weapon Upgrading, Weapon Camouflage, Grenade Types and Perks.

The Perks are a clever way of upgrading a feature of your soldier, like one can let you hold your breath for longer when you are sniping an enemy or you are able to spot enemy mines on the ground. You are able to choose 3 different Perks to enhance your soldier in some way.

Ever since the first Call Of Duty, the visuals haven't been revolutionary, but the explosions, the scenery and the character models all mix up to create a great graphical game. As always the audio is tremendous, with every shot you take giving you huge enjoyment.

Overall COD4 MW is a huge and fantastic experience that you will want to keep playing!

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is simply one of the best games ever!

The story immerses you like no other, the main storyline behind is that you play as a character who is given the task of finding the lost heir to the throne of Tamriel, the empire is crumbling and the gates of Oblivion opening up across the land with demons marching across the land. You must unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy everything. The plot builds up from there and it is very engaging and exciting, trust me!

At the start of the game you are allowed to customise your character. You can change his or her hair, eyes and facial features. The race of your character, these range from Nord to Khajit to Wood Elf and plenty of others. Then you can choose the birth sign and these give you a boost on a couple of your skills which either you choose. Finally you can decide which mayor skills you want your character to have, so for instance, if you want to be a Knight, you will likely choose Heavy Armour, Blade, Blunt, Hand to Hand, Armourer and Marksman.

Through out the game you will be given side quests from the people in each town or city and you will have the option to join Guilds. These are groups of people looking for work and you can join all of them and complete tasks for them. The different Guilds are, the Fighters Guild, the Mages Guild, the Thieves Guild & the Dark Brotherhood. Also there are Daedric Quests where you must complete a quest for all the Daedric Gods (The Daedra are the creatures which come out of the Oblivion gates and Mehunes Dagon, the Prince of Darkness is their leader). The gameplay is simply awesome from riding your horse, slaying demons with your sword, to create potions using Alchemy. You won't want to stop playing!

So on to the graphics, to be honest they are not the best for the Xbox 360 but they are one of the best. From the snowy mountain tops, to the lust green woodland, this game world is a great sight to be hold! The character face texture & the attention to detail in every house, castle, cave, ruin and shrine make this the most realistic medieval world I have ever seen.

The audio and voice acting is tremendous, with the lip synching to match, when you have a conversation with any in game character. Bethesda Softworks really have put everything in to this game.

There are some pretty long loading times and when your in the wilderness you will be interrupted by a occasional loading message, but these, to me, do not matter at all.

I encourage you to buy the extra content from Xbox Live Marketplace, because on top of the 200 hour of play time you will get from this it is an absolute pleasure to have more.

I will stop now and I beg you to buy this game because it is a gem in the crown of Microsoft.

The Orange Box is no doubt, a fantastic bundle of games!

The games that have been compiled into this bundle are the legendary Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode 1, Half Life 2: Episode 2. The crazily insane multiplayer Team Fortress 2 and the very weird and immersive puzzle based Portal.

These five games create a wide variety of different gameplay that will excite you, impress you and make you laugh.

Lets start off with the 3 Half Life 2 games of the bundle, The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its population dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people he cares about are counting on him. Stepping into the hazard suit of Dr. Gordon Freeman in Half Life 2 Episode 1, you face the immediate repercussions of your actions in City 17 and the Citadel. Rejoin Alyx Vance and her robot, Dog, to once again aid the human resistance in their desperate battle against the totalitarian alien menace of the Combine. As Dr. Gordon Freeman in Half Life 2 Episode 2, you were last seen exiting City 17 with Alyx Vance as the Citadel erupted amidst a storm of unknown proportions. In Episode Two, you must battle and race against Combine forces as you traverse the White Forest to deliver a crucial information packet stolen from the Citadel to an enclave of fellow resistance scientists.

The only down side to these 3 amazing gaming experiences that the graphics are not any as good as you would see from other games like Gears Of War or Mass Effect. But overall HL2 , E1, E2 are top notch games.

Unlike other "class-based" games that offer a variety of combat classes only, Team Fortress 2 packs a wild variety of classes which provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities, and lend themselves to a variety of player skills. Play as the flame-throwing Pyro, the room clearing Heavy, or the Spy, a master of disguises. Other classes include: Scout, Sniper, Medic, Engineer, Demoman, or Soldier. The graphics are simple and of a cartoon quality which adds humour and great gameplay value.

Portal is a new single player game from Valve. Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has been called one of the most innovative new games on the horizon and will offer gamers hours of unique gameplay. The game is designed to change the way players approach, manipulate, and surmise the possibilities in a given environment; similar to how Half Life 2's Gravity Gun innovated new ways to leverage an object in any given situation. Players must solve physical puzzles and challenges by opening portals to maneuvering objects, and themselves, through space.

In conclusion, The Orange Box is a weird and wonderful addition to the large catalogue of great Xbox 360 games and it will be a classic without a doubt!

This is a story of Hate, Love and Retribution. You mainly play as Nero, a young, cool man working for an organisation called the Order of the Sword. Everything is going well for him until a mysterious assassin murders Sanctus the High Priest of the Order during a ceremony in front of everyone in the Opera House. Now Nero is given the task of finding this assassin and bringing him to justice. The story unravels further on involving Kyrie (Nero's romantic interest), Dante, Credo (Kyrie's brother and the Leader to the Orders Knights). The story is one of the best i have seen from a game and has some fantastic cutscenes.

The gameplay is top notch as you would expect from a Devil May Cry game. The way you can just string combos together effortlessly is astounding and amidst all this sword fighting and gun shooting there is a couple of puzzles to keep you thinking. There are plenty of secret missions hidden in the 20 main missions throughout the game, these require you to complete a certain task to pass the test. As you play as the main character, Nero, you have many tools at your exposal, these include: The Devil Bringer, the Yamato sword, the Red Queen sword and the Blue Rose revolver. Nero is playable from mission 1 to 11, then Dante is playable from mission 11 to 18 and you finish off the final two missions with Nero. Dante has four different styles, these are Trickster, Gunslinger, Sword Master and Royal Guard. Also he has his dual pistols called Ebony and Ivory, his shotgun and the Rebellion sword.

Graphics in DMC4 are outstanding, the attention to detail is unbelievable and has to be challenging Gears of War, Bioshock and Mass Effect.

There are some problems that let this game down, for instance, the camera angle can become confusing at times when it can change when it doesn't really need to and you can find yourself running the wrong way. Also when you do get to play as Dante, you have to play all the same levels as you did with Nero so it is pretty disappointing to see that Capcom couldn't be bothered to design new levels especially for Dante. But these aren't big problems to stop it becoming a great game.

Finally extra modes and options include a Survival mode, Theater mode, Library mode and Leaderboards to view your ranking on Xbox Live.

So what can I call Devil May Cry 4?

BRILLIANT

What can I say about Mass Effect? It's truly brilliant!

The basic story behind Mass Effect is that you are Commander John Shepard and you lead a team from different races (Human, Asari, Salarian, Turian etc).
You and your team are in race against time to stop a rogue Spectre called Saren, he has a army of these creatures called Geth at his command and you have to stop before he finds a way to destory the universe and all that lives.

In Mass Effect there are several key points that i will go through, firstly when you are in converation with another character, you can choose different options (These are called Paragon and Renegade) Good and Evil, these determine the way the other character responses to you, whether he or she likes you or dislikes you and whether you will be able to get information from them quicker.
Next is the biotic powers which you are given, these range from Lift, Throw, Warp, Barrier etc. Finally is Omni-Tools which are multipurpose diagnostic and minifacturing tools used for a variety of battlefield tasks, such as hacking, decryption or repair.

You can control your three man squad when you land on a planet to take cover, retreat, attack etc. Also you can command your teammates to use their biotics.
On to the weapons and armour, through out the game you can collect or pick up new weapons, armour and upgrades for them as well. All the weapons and armour have ratings for their key features. The weapons are the Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle and Pistol. You have different types of armour due to your class, Light, Medium and Heavy Armour can only be worn by certain classes. These classes are Soldier, Engineer, Adept, Infiltrator, Sentinel and Vanguard.

You can customise the way your characters face looks and the first name of Shepard. (Ok it isn't as great as Oblivion, but at least Bioware tried). As you roam uncharted planets in your MAKO, finding lost treasures and artifacts you realise this is just one of those games that has been so well prepared. The visual is outstanding and one of the best for the Xbox 360, though there are framerate issues where the textures seem to take about 5 seconds to load. The sound and voice acting is excellent, done by true profeesionals.

To be honest, I can recommend this to anyone who likes action-adventures, RPG's and shooters because this has to be up there along side Bioshock and Oblivion as one of the best RPG's for the Xbox 360 and is a must buy!

Pro Evo 2008 is the best of the franchise since Pro Evo 4.

The last Pro Evo was a bit of a disappointment for most of the die hard Pro Evolution Soccer fans. It had none of the modes that have been added back into this one and last generation graphics. But Konami have given us a great game (in my opinion) and the tweaked gameplay and AI tells us that Konami are trying to make the Pro Evo series even better by each game. This is proven and this is a better and more technical game than FIFA 08. Of course there are only two fully licensed English Premier League teams (This time Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur). Also the online can be extremely laggy at times making it unbearable in some parts. But who cares when you think about what Konami are trying to achieve with Pro Evo Soccer 2008 you can sense that  with the free flowing gameplay and the Master League, Legue, Cup and Edit Modes that have tried to make sure you get your money's worth out of this game. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is the best football game out there and you should buy it now or for Christmas or at least rent it.
