Lol, then I don't recommend the Condemned series to you. It does look scarier though, everything just seems ... more intense. Man, I can't wait!

You can be sure MS will charge for any "cool"/new accessories for Avatars - but they have every right to. I thought they were insane to charge for a little low-res picture that seriously anyone can make. At least these are rendered in 3D, and take some actual time to make. And I'm guessing 200 points/shirt or accessory. There are people that would pay that...

Since I bought my console at launch, I've never bought a Gamerpic, and don't plan on spending on my Avatar either.

Pokemon was huge at my school, and I loved all 500 or so of them. I had almost every single card, including holographics, and spent (well, my parents spent) easily more than $1000 CAD on 'em. Then I bought both Red and Blue (I know, waste) for my Gameboy. Spent tons of hours on both games. Then, Pokemon Stadium and Snap for the N64. But, it all went so fast - and eventually they added all these dumb, generic Pokemon and everyone lost interest -- including myself.

I still have my card collection to this day.

I was a huge Pokemon fan for some reason - depsite sounding like a complete nerd in my youth (which, I sort of was). Man, I even saw the Pokemon movie when it hit theatres ... which I don't recommend anyone to do.

"Microsoft and Demon Energy Drink are teaming up to promote the launch of Gears of War 2. According to ButtonMasher, the promo will include limited edition Demon Energy Drink cans and bottles as well as a competition to win the first copies of Gears of War 2. But that’s probably not the best part, if you buy a limited edition Gears of War themed can and take it in to your local Harvey Normans before the 7/11/08and you will get $10 off the price of your pre-order.

"

Now is that July 11, 2008 or 7 November, 2008?"
november 7th
thats how weird british people write
"
Was that even worth asking? July 11th has already passed ... and November 7th is the release of Gears of War 2. Come on people.

Anyway, I'll stick to regular drinks.

So essentially a fat Dennis Rodman.  :P

Anyway, I really like these Avatars. It's just gives my console a nice personalized touch, instead of a generic Gamerpic. Everything about the Dashboard seems wonderful - especially the party feature. Looking forward to seeing more on it in the weeks to come.

"Dude with body shield look invicible, or is it just me?"
It's not that he's invisible -- just a harder to kill. Most of these people playing are their only to check out the basic mechanics, and test it out. If you think about it, it's a lot riskier in a real situation ... where you walk much slower, can't run, and have your back/sides completely exposed (perfect for a sniper, or flanker). I can see it working quite balanced (but those smoke nades are a different story...).

EDIT: I think I misinterpreted that .... my mistake.

I noticed that too, but I found it weird in one scene where it was Hoffman vs. Locust in a chainsaw battle on a platform. They were heading towards each other, and I SWEAR the arrow was pointing at the soon-to-be dead locust -- who was clearly not Skorge. Even when he gets chainsawwed, it goes all crazy. Look out for it in the video (in the YouTube one above, it's 4:09-4:14).

Could be ... but it's fairly coincidental. I think he will be playable though - considering Raam was in the original.

Some would consider waiting a year missing out. ;-) "
I'd consider one week missing out. Honestly, seeing everyone playing would drive me nuts.

Also, EPIC said the same thing about the original; "Absolutely no Gears of War for the PC." Guess what happened about one year later? However, it would actually make sense for them not to do a PC version, and focus primarily on the Xbox 360 DLC/patches/updates. It sold much better on the console, and every Xbox Fanboy was in flames that EPIC released it, with more content, on another platform.

Anyway, no one knows for sure if they're just bluffing to spike the console sales ...

"I like the status thing that pops up on the side when you do something that brings you close to an achievement. "
I love how the game is shaping up. The ability to see who-downed-who now (notice in the bottom-left) should eradicate the "Was that my down?" scenarios; and of course what you mentioned should take care of the frustration from miscalculated achievements. It's these small additions that really rise my anticipation ... along with the big stuff, of course.
