Games of 2012

For GOTY stuff

List items

  • Working on getting an S rank. this game fucking ruled.

  • This game was mindless, but fine. The mechanics lacked some ingenuity but it was easy to hop in and out and spend an hour at a time hacking orcs. The story was weak, but that wasn't why I played this game. The melee combat was particularly strong given the decent shooting mechanic. A good game, but I don't think I bothered to play it again on a harder difficulty.

  • I started this game and went nowhere with it. Everything I head tells me that it is amazing, and I got the GOTY version with some DLC. But I didn't have the time to invest multiple hours at a time into a game like this. Maybe next year.

  • I played this game twice. It was fun, just like Dead Space, and had a lot of good emotional triggers. The story was still interesting and kept me hooked through the whole process. I think the second time I played it on the hardest difficulty, and it presented a bit of a challenge. The stupid multiplayer achievements were the only thing keeping me from an S rank. I tried one round of multiplayer, but there weren't a lot of people let to match with.

  • I still haven't finished this game, but the storyline has been fantastic. Mechanically the game is fine. One challenge is that I have to be able to focus on the game when it is time to play. I have to hear the dialogue since that is pretty much all the game is. At times there are some QTEs, but nothing that is mechanically challenging. The story does such a gerat job of challenging you with tough choices at every point. I've been sitting on episode 4, really chomping at the bit to play it, but I know that when I play this next time I want to be able to blitz through the whole thing.

  • I played this a lot more this year. Since it only takes 5 minutes it is easy for me to fit in between things, or use it to wind down at night. The game has lost lots of its shine and at this point it is simply mechanical. But I did manage to beat my high score!

  • After having trouble with my hand I went back and played this game again. Still fun, even when alone.

  • This game was great. Short . . . even with pretty extensive replay. But it was still pretty great.

  • I play this game a lot. The DLC hasn't been too enticing, but it managed multiple play-thoughs to get all of the achievements and enjoy the rest of the game. Dragonborn just came out . . . maybe I'll get back in.

  • I started this at the end of the year. The hex base, range units and lack of stacking added some interesting elements.

  • I dipped back into this game after playing through other stuff. I realized I hadn't done any of the DLC (despite getting the GoTY version). I'm still running around the Island of Dr. Ned. This game is fun, and the new game plus mode has made it challenging again.

  • There are three days left in the year. We'll see what happens with Halo in those days.

  • I jumped into this after listening to the GoTY conversations from the GB Crew. Steam had it on sale for 5 dollars so I figured why not. It is a lot of fun. I don't know if it will last forever, but for now it is quick and engaging.
