How dare I felt sadness when all 4 of my grandparents passed away, a close friend who died in a car crash, several close Aunts and Uncles, my father who worked himself to death to support my brothers and I, or when my own daughter who immediately was in the neonatal intensive unit on life support. How dare I feel sadness for them, people who actually influenced my life and who I have become as a man but not felt the same for a man who I've never met that gave me the opportunity to purchase a device to listen to my music, watch movies, and make phone calls. Having compassion for his family and loved ones going through rough times is a lot different then feeling a personal lose from his death. You seriously need to grow up, the hypocrite accusation was totally baseless. God forbide it happens acas2011, but when it inevitably happens and you lose a close loved one will you express your grief "I haven't felt this way since the passing of Steve Jobs"? I think not.

You said it was foolish to feel sadness at the death of a CEO that you don't know, and then said you would feel sad when a couple other CEOs would die. Not news? Company worth nothing in the 90's turned around to be one of the biggest tech companies in existence now, owing largely to his influence. I found this story on this site before any other, and I'm grateful to Patrick for that so I think you might have fallen the wrong side out of bed this morning.

How, if people here get s upset when a CEO of a tech Corp I'd hate to see how they'd react to the death of a loved one. People are giving him way too much credit for his work. One dude up above said "he changed the way we work and the way we think"? Really, in what way? Pretty stupid comment. He was a successful pitch man. His number one priority was profits and share prices. Got droves of people thinking they needed every new iteration of Apple products. They were methodical in their approach, holding back features to put in future yearly updates of the iPod, iPad, and iPhone and everyone ate it up. All reports indicated this man was a total dick. His death is a not a shocker, photos of him after his resignation showed a gaunt, frail man with legs as thick as my wrist, needing assistance to walk. His death is indeed sad, to his family and others who he was close to. If you're online talking about how sad you are over this you might want to get checked out by a psychologist.
