Show a kid a few decent war movies such as Saving Private Ryan and The Hurt Locker instead? Sure they won't come close to replicating the experience of seeing conflict first-hand but it means you're not potentially emotionally traumatising your offspring.

Are you gonna show Saving private Ryan as a reality check towards Call of Duty........ You might aswell show Gladiator in that case.

Saving Private Ryan ain't perfect, I'll give you that, but it does show how fucking brutal a live fire situation can be and what automatic weaponry and high explosives can do to the human body. Nobody watching the first 15 minutes of that film is under any assumption that war is a game.

Well the same is true for the first 15min of Gladiator. My point is that the combat part is very well covered in Saving private Ryan and all the games based of that movie. The trip this father took his children on is to show how war affects all off society in their daily life outside of the blockbuster action parts that makes up less than 1% of a war. To show them the parts that doesnt make a great movie...

Then I don't think it would have that much of an effect on them. Even relatively mature teenagers have difficulty understanding what it means to have PTSD. An easier and more comprehensible way to illustrate the difference between Call of Duty and real life is to take something that is similar to the content of those games that is presented in a realistic fashion. This dad's trip would work much better with older children who can understand the consequences of war that go beyond the physical.

I've played a lot of war games since I was about 10. I've never been in combat. There's enough good work in both film and literature that I've encountered that have persuaded me that I never want to go to a warzone.

Now I don't know how dating works in the US, I cant fathom why you need to acquire a car before you can ask a girl out on a date.

This. Stop living in places where things are far away from other things.

Great controller. Enough games on the system that if you're not playing everything on PC it's worth getting. Having a blast with mine.

Watched that video and was legitimately freaked out. I got light-headed and anxious and felt like I was about to faint. I've had panic attacks before and I got the same preliminary sensations. Seriously fucking messed up.

So why are you depressed exactly? Your post seems to want to lay it all on some chemical imbalance. If that is all it was the medication "should" be working which it clearly is not.

This. There are medications that are pretty extreme but will at least give you a time-out from these feelings, enough time to take a step back and assess the situation. In the meantime, I suggest talking to your partner about this event specifically. If you have already, good on you. If not, let her know. Your family the best chance at respite so don't keep her out of the loop.

A long time ago Mortal Kombat went 3D. I've spent many evenings in multiple bars trying to forget those days.

He is def a cup of fresh air. The enthusiasm since a) his arrival b) Vinny and Alex in NY and c) Brad taking lead on the BC has been fantastic.

Really I was skeptical of B and C but the crew certainly has come into its own bringing a new era of entertainment. I fucking wish Ryan was here though, him and Dan would be awesome together

I always thought Ryan and Dan had really great chemistry from the word go. I would have loved to see those two with both their different types of boyish glee about videogames in a video.
