Well this ought to lead to some hilariously uncomfortable situations during business presentations. "Now if you follow the trend here...no HERE...no, GOD DAMMIT KINECT I'M POINTING OVER HERE!"

Someone else in the room: "Kinect -- porn!"

Shocking that they would add a way to discourage used sales onto a game with no multiplayer mode.

I am shocked.

Shocked.

I'm not selling this one, am I?

Cool I suppose? Nintendo still needs to get their own kind of software instead of people relying on a third party source.

For the Internet? Neeeever gonna happen, my friend.

"They can release screenshots, make movies, shoutcast matches, write guides, publicly make fun of our HUD, or anything else their hearts desire. They can also reverse-engineer the code right away, giving them enough time to create devious bots, hacks and cracks long before the release proper."

... and Valve will have an equal amount of time to build countermeasures against bots and hacks.

As much as I'm turned off by the communities surrounding these types of games, I'm still really excited to play this.

Just ignore the vermin. If you take it personal from all the trolls and kids then you're gonna have a hard time getting into these kinds of games, but they're some of the most fun and competitive(the reason people rage so much) games there are.

People are really missing out if they don't play them just because of the (many) rotten eggs of the community.

Honestly, I feel like the reputation of the community is exaggerated. These types of people exist in equal quantities in MMOs and FPSs as they do in LoL/HoN/Dota. It's just that their behavior is more focused due to the nature of the Dota genre. The way you deal with them is still /ignore and move on.

95% of my games of LoL have no bad behavior, and I expect the same experience when I dip into Dota 2.

The world is big enough for both LoL and Dota 2 to exist, be popular, and be good. Grow up.

If you have time to play and get good at 2 competitive multiplayer games at the same time you have too much time. Nothing about DotA 2 seems to be changing the game at all, so why not play a more mature product? All I've seen of DotA 2 so far is generic and doesn't seem to be improving the genre.

Different people like different styles of games. LoL and Dota 2 are as different as Modern Warfare and Gears of War, and I hear those are both pretty popular.

Dota 2 is "generic" in the sense that it is Dota. A lot of people still like Dota, and will happily play a Dota that has better matchmaking and is better supported.

But why not just play League of Legends? They are in the process of rolling out a new game mode and it doesn't look like as super generic as DotA2 does? Also it actually iterates on the original in new and interesting ways (brush, no deny, etc, etc)

Totally brah. That unreleased game from Valve (makers of indie hits like Counter Strike, Half Life and Team Fortress) is totally way, way worse than a game that has been out for for years and has had many new content updates and patches.

...UGH. FUCKING INTERNET.

DOTA 2 in its beta version is better than the current version of LoL.

The world is big enough for both LoL and Dota 2 to exist, be popular, and be good. Grow up.

He still calls himself Icefrog? He has a job now. Someone needs to punch him in the mouth.

Icefrog is his public name. If they stopped calling him Icefrog, Dota fans would no longer know who he was and his value would crash.
