Super Smash Brothers 4 Part 21: The Rest of Nintendo

For the uninitiated this is how it works. Every weekday I'll be doing a blog on the characters that deserve a roster spot in Nintendos next character smackdown. The franchises from which I'll be taking characters can be found under the "Part 1" link. If I get good feedback, I may add or change representative characters. Characters can also be added as Assist Trophies.

The Rules:

  • No more than 4 characters per franchise (trust me, it's a hard rule to follow through with)
  • Characters have to be primarily video game characters.  (I want to add Batman as much as you do)
  • Characters from Nintendo will go first, followed by characters from other companies
  • Characters must be major (I'm not adding Toad, or Sandshrew, or Lanky Kong. Whether a character is important enough is up to my own discression)

Part 1: Representative Franchises

Part 2: Mario Brothers

Part 3: The Legend of Zelda

Part 4: Metroid

Part 5: Starfox

Part 6: F-Zero

Part 7: Pokemon

Part 8: Kirby

Part 9: Donkey Kong

Part 10: Mother

Part 11: Fire Emblem

Part 12: Advance Wars

Part 13: Pikmin

Part 14: Kid Icarus

Part 15: Ice Climber

Part 16: Animal Crossing

Part 17: Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan

Part 18: Yoshi's Island

Part 19: Golden Sun

Part 20: Warioware

Part 21: The Rest of Nintendo

I suppose itd be similar to saturn. I was thinking they would kind of appear on stage and do stuff, like the Rabbids would throw plungers, grunts would lop plasma grenades, and stuff like that. You could kick them off the stage or leave them to hopefully attack your enemy

I'm glad you liked this entry! It was one of my favorite to make. BTW for anyone who reads these I've gone through the old ones and reformated them so they look better, and also added a "creatures" section on some of them

Wow, AgentJ! Looks like I missed one. Well I guess that means its time for me to dig up the past!

Akari is an interesting character for you to mention. I immediately brushed her off at first glance, but now that I'm thinking about it, I think she could be pretty rad. A cool athletic girl brawler? That sounds like something the series could use. I can imagine it now. Akari jabbing dudes with her snowboard then whacking them across the face with it. Awesomeness. I'm in. I was thinking for a final smash, she could either have one where the screen fills up with water that rises and lowers and she rides back in forth, hitting the brawlers on her jet ski. If their damage percentage is high enough, she'd hit them and they'd skip across the water and off screen to their death. Or perhaps she could create an avalanche which leaves a slope of snow going down the arena and trapping her opponents in the snow with only their heads poking out, and she would ride down the slope on her snowboard, riding into their heads once on the way down. And as she'd hit their heads, they could comically knock back and forth while they're trapped in the snow. This final smash would not kill anyone since they're trapped in the snow, but would inflict a whole lot of damage making them very vulnerable to being knocked off the stage. Also, to eliminate the possibility of an opponent being on a level directly above another, which would ruin the whole slope concept with her hitting both with one go, right before the avalance there could be heavy snow and winds that could automatically push the characters into a more suitable position for it to work. Okay, okay, that was pretty descriptive. I'll keep the others shorter.

Little Mac! What a guy. I loved Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! That game amazes me with all its awesomeness and I hope the new one doesn't let me down. He seems like an easy character to add. They don't really even have to complicate it so much with him. They could probably fill out his whole arsenal of moves with just different punching attacks. Personally I'd really like to see a level made out of his jogging stage. Coach would have to ride by every so often too. I'd be content with the old school NES style graphics for this, but if they want to update it, I certainly couldn't complain as long as they did it justice. I just thought of what I think could be a really cool Final Smash for him. Okay, so imagine the standard Punch-Out scenario, where you're looking at your enemy and Mac's back. Now imagine if this was reversed, so you're looking at Mac's face, and the people he's fighting are the other brawlers, who you'd see from behind. Then they could try to dodge and block while Mac goes straight up Tyson on those fools. Awww yeah. I think that would be totally sweet. With Punch-Out making a comeback, I think in SSB4, the champ will finally arrive. YO LIL MAAAACCCCC!!!

I can't really elaborate on Saki since I've never played either Sin and Punishment game, but introducing me to the character could be a good way to get me on track with the series. I will say that dude certainly looks like Smash Bros. potential.

Mr. Game and Watch can come back. That will get no complaints from me.

I have no interest in Custom Robo, but Ray MK looks like he could bring some freshness to the table, and perhaps get people in the US more accustomed with the series. I wouldn't have a problem with this one, as long as he doesn't take up the spot of a much more deserving character.

Balloon Fighter is another one I initially didn't think would fit, but with a next-gen update, he could probably be pretty cool. I don't know the game well enough to give him my 100% approval, but I think he's certainly one that the Nintendo crew should consider. Maybe it could work out, maybe not.

Great list, AgentJ. You made some good choices here. You have a great ability in finding possible Smash Bros contenders. Good job, man.

Yeah, when i do the "notable appearances" thing, i either look at their giantbomb or wikipeida page, especially if i dont know much about the character. didnt feel that what amounted to a cameo was important enough to mention, but good memory!

Playstation doesn't own Banjo-Kazooie... Rare does. We saw a Banjo game on the GBA after they went to microsoft. By the way, monday will be the start of non-nintendo characters, and everyones favorite bear-bird combo may be there ;)
Man, I totally forgot about that Banjo game for the GBA.

There are probably a lot more, but I'm too lazy to recall those not from a specific series.

Nintendo actually owns the rights to Sin and Punishment. They contracted Treasure to make the game.  also, delete your double post.
