Quitting my first real job

It's 7:03 a.m. and im not going to work.

ive has this job for 4 months, working in the housekeeping department of a hotel that fucks its workers but seems fancy and comfy on the outside. i needed a job badly cuz when you turn 18 in israel you must pay a certain type of tax each month, and if u have a job your employer pays it for you.. also making some money is not so bad.

fuck you.
fuck you.

But.. i cant take it. ive been exhausted and disgusted and revolted and spiritually crushed by that demanding job and the low-life loser scumbag closed-minded squares that formed the employee personnel..

No more of that shit for me, im looking for something civil and comfy that fits a civilized young man who spent over the last quarter of his life using a computer.  even though thats very hard to find here since this race (arabs and jews mixed together) is based on physical abilities, working like a dog and not using your head.

A similar job for me please. Thank you!

I hate my job too. I really wish I could quit, but given the fact that 18 year old's in the states here are pretty much either grocery store clerks or in a family connection, I've really got no other choice. The economy being in the shitter doesn't really help either.

im turning 19 this month. i graduated from high school 6 months ago. i need to work for a year or two until i decide to go to university..  here you graduate from high school, apply  to get into uni or a college and the sooner you can join is 1 year after graduation.. nobody goes to uni quicker than that. not that i know if.. so theres a work phase involved

FYI college here is not the semi-university you go to BEFORE university.. its the 'special' university that takes care of you more than uni but you have to pay twice as much as you do for uni.. (meaning that if you're rich and you were a lousy pupil in school, college teaches you things you shoulda learned in school and therefore are not taught in university).

My first job was grocery store clerk. It was terrible. I had no benefits, no extra pay for holidays, no sick days, and there's only two types of clerks: teenagers and off adults (really off).

I was the only one who correctly cleaned, wrangled carts, and said 'hello' to all the customers, yet was paid equally.

I have much respect for baggers, they are treated crappily but do the most grueling work (being a manager of a grocery store is so damn easy).

Indeed. I look at cashiers and baggers alike with much more respect since becoming one myself.

Are they doing another live I love mondays today? Cool.

My first job was as a dishwasher and frankly it was a pretty cool gig. Working in a kitchen means you bust your ass, but you can swear up a storm and listen to Wu-Tang all day.

Dealing with people on the front end of things always sucks.

Wait, what?
You have to pay a tax just because you're over 18?

In my country, if you're unemployed and over 18, you get some sort of counseling with the unemployment people, several courses to help you apply for jobs and most important of all, money, for sitting on your ass applying for jobs. In total the year I was unemployed, I got about $25 000... and I still had a year left before they reduced the payments. It was a great year for gaming, but really boring in spots. I finally found a job last month doing pretty much what the guy does in the second picture there. Well, when everything works, at least.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to brag or anything. It's just insane that you have to pay a tax because you're over 18. My advice to you would be to get another crummy job while applying for a nicer one.. But I guess you already knew that.

@Ahmad_Metallic: Its been 13 hours since you posted this so  I doubt it will do much good, (Also I have no idea how things work in your country) but listen, as someone who has owned a small business the worst thing you could do for your reputation is to never show up again, call and say I am done, don't get down to their level and screw yourself in the process. And if you do and did go through with this, don't ever ever ever talk about it Ever again IRL.

I'm comfortable with my job at blockbusters. I don't spend that much because I'm always in fear of running out of money, so I have a pretty decent amount of money n my savings, for a teenager at least.

It's not exactly easy to lose this job either, most customers come from the "Cote St Jew" neighborhood and they're never annoying customers. The teenagers are also easy to handle, since I can think like them because... Well because I'm 16.

Best country in the world, actually. Well, according to the 2009 Human Development Index anyway... :P

There is of course a lot more to the system than what I've said. The money you get is based on previous income over the last three years, but you do get SOMETHING if you don't go to school or anything.
However, now that I'm working, I pay almost 40% income tax. 36% to be exact. 36% of $58 031 a year = $20 891 in tax. That's a lot of games.

Dude that sucks that you've had it hard like that. I'm 18 myself and have never had a job (hope i do soon), there hasn't been any jobs available to me in my city. I am very lucky to live in my country but it still gets on my nerves having a dumb government that wasted heaps of the country's back-up money to pull-out of the recession without putting forth any worthwhile plans. The country is nearly bankrupt now. Since my city is a tourism hub I should probably seek employment in Hospitality, but I want a trade; though can't have everything so fair enough. I know my story is not entirely relevant but I like to share :)

Like Noted, but in a different country, if I became unemployed, I would be getting about $30,000 a year to look for a job, plus all sorts of benefits on public transport and pharmaceuticals.  Not that I would want to do that as I don't care to take a $40,000 pay cut, but it does take the pressure off knowing there is a safety net to protect you.

Good luck Ahmad with whatever you do.  I hope it work out.

@Noted:  Lots of places in the world have something similar to this (not saying it's right, just saying it happens) just because it doesn't happen to -you- does not make your situation the norm, or his situation 'insane'

In Japan you have to pay compulsory insurance each month that equates to just over the rent of a small apartment for a month. In addition to taxes and your own rent etc.
