Something went wrong. Try again later

I guess it's sunk cost. No need to torture myself over what are effectively phantasms.

Now the work begins

Some people say President Obama should lighten up on video games now that he doesn't have to please the video-games-are-the-source-of-evil crazies.  I say I'll personally introduce him to whatever generation of consoles are out when he retires, as long as he spends his presidency saving our country from economic collapse:

I'm willing to hear a few ignorant things about video games if we're able to snap out of this fever dream.  I've heard a lot of ignorant things said by folks who pretend to be behind the ideas in this movie and its longer theatrical version, who obviously haven't seen it.  It talks about (at least) two sacred cows in this country, one of which is commonly associated with one political group, while the other is pegged on the other group.  Since we have a tendency to try to simplify problems into two opposing sides, serious discussion on this will take some time to sort out.  I saw speeches from the main guy behind this movie on Youtube, and one crazy commenter would blame the Democrats for all the problems, while another would blame the Republicans.  They both missed the point.

Unfortunately the film above doesn't give much with regard to solutions, but the implications are clear: some sacrifices are going to have to be made to get things under control.  People did it in World War II, bought bonds and all that, and I think it was easy because human beings have a tendency to do braver things when they actually see enemies coming at them.  I'm not sure how you can personify debt and make it feel like an enemy, an enemy that we have to fight through both revenue increases and spending decreases, but the beast is there anyway and it's coming toward us.

I've been playing a few games over the past few weeks, but I don't want to ruin the tone of this post by blathering about them.
