My Uncle gave me an Atari Lynx! Here are my impressions on the console and its games

I am been waiting for my copy of Bloodborne to show up, (EDIT: I caved and bought a digital copy) thanks Amazon, and remebered that I spoke to Brad at PAX East about giving him my Atari Lynx. I saw that I have two of them, a handful of games, and some time to kill on my spring break, and have decided to play all of the games I have for the thing. So here goes!

Here are the games I have, the Lynx itself, and a shot of it and my 3DSXL for reference

California Games

At one point on some livestream Jeff has played this game on both a Lynx and something else, so I thought I would give it a try. Jeff says it's ok, so it might be ok. There seems to be only one good game in the bunch, Footbag. Though it is simple, you can move the Footbagger(?) left, right, and turn him around to kick the Bagfoot(?). Timing is essential as when you press the kick button a different part of the Footbagger's body move to foot the bag. The actions that yield the most points also sent the Footbag flying giving a nice risk/reward to the game. Surfing seems to be as simple as move the surfer dude around, get as many 360's as you can, and land it for points. I can't find out if the A and B button do anything in the game, but it did not hold my attention long enough to find out. The final two games, Halfpipe and BMX are unintelligable to me without the manual. I do not have it and did not have the patience to try to trail and error how to play those two games.

Viking Child

I have been super excited for Bloodborne, and now whenever I play some tough action game, I get roped into the game to see if I just need to used my Souls' skills to play it well. For the first twenty minutes I played of Viking Child, that seemed to be the case, by playing slow and carefully I was making great progress and kind of enjoying myself. But then I went as left as possible and hit an invisible wall, annoyed, I started to backtrack to see if there was some other path I had missed and died. I entered my name and saw that I was 300 points from the high score and felt satisfied with myself, for now. I'll be keeping Viking Child, I think.
